About this ebook

"... His place who can take
And set the pace
For water drawers to follow
To the stream that breaks pots
And if the gods delight in broken
Pots and Song
Who can sing the song of
Broken Pots?...

This rhetorical question sets the stage for the tragic drama that ensues.

The reigns of the princes, Usuaimaha and Ekong was expected to usher in peace between the feuding kingdoms of Obioitiat and Obioidim. But in ironical twist, their deaths at the points of ascending the thrones rather turned out to be the precursor of the peace. Were their lives taken in exchange for the peace? What went wrong?

In this intriguing story of friendship, ambition, and power, the struggles of the princes against the awesome forces of fate are aptly captured as they drive the play to a historic ending.

[They sit on a log of wood]

[Stands up and stretches himself. The two HUNTERS rise and hobble into the playground. He begins to clap and sing as the two HUNTERS close in and begin to wrestle.]

    My hero is a freeborn

    Your hero is a slave

    I will prove it!

    Come and prove it

    Now a broken waist

    I will prove it!

    Come and prove it!

    And then a broken back.

[The two HUNTERS fight wildly. Soon the sky begins to darken as rain clouds gather in the sky. Wind and thunder. And then rain. The fighters disengage, and they all picked up their guns and begin to run for shelter.]
