Speaking at a funeral can be very challenging. In most cases, those asked to speak at funerals are closely connected with the deceased. As a result, the event can be very emotional. It can also be difficult to know what to say.
This short book will help you know what to say by going over the types of content that people usually include in speeches given at a funeral.
In a typical religious funeral service, one speaker will give a life sketch reviewing the deceased's biographical details. A second speaker will provide more information about the person’s attributes, referencing specific experiences and deriving meaning from the deceased's life. Then a third speaker will often provide a more religious or spiritual message aimed at providing comfort and support to the family of the deceased. We will discuss each of these components
