About this ebook

Loki's Oath is a collection of devotional work for followers of Loki Laufeyjarson and his family. It contains prayers, blots, and rituals that follow a Lokean Calendar that was developed by the author, Jennifer Lainhart, in 2019, that corresponds with members of Loki and his family each month. Loki's Oath is a workbook of sorts, requiring a journal to record thoughts and experiences had during meditations at the end of each ritual. This book is a remake of Jennifer's first book, Hail Loki, and looks very different with the addition of Loki's family members, and changes to the rituals. Overall, Loki's Oath is a completely different book than Hail Loki.

    Loki's Oath - Jennifer Lainhart

    Introduction

It has been over two years since I wrote my first book, Hail Loki, and I am finally getting around to what I mentioned in the first edition: adding Loki’s family. In this volume, I am building the work around a calendar I created in 2019 that celebrates Loki and his kin every month on the 18 th day. I recall when I was creating the calendar that I asked Loki to pick a number between 1 and 30 (totally forgetting that I should have chosen 28 thanks to February) and he chose 18. So that is why the 18 th of the month are celebration days. I like that he chose 18 since it is a multiple of 9, which is a sacred number in Norse mythology.

I did not add other Pagan celebrations to this calendar as it is meant to be used in addition to other holidays. It can also be used alone.

Some of the material featured herein can be found in the first four volumes of Loki’s Torch. If you’ve never heard of Loki’s Torch, it is a yearly compilation of devotional pieces of work by the Loki’s Wyrdlings community and others. We can be found on Facebook with a simple search. It is a great place full of knowledgeable and friendly folks all devoted to Loki. Come and join the fun! There is also Loki University that you can seek out if you are interested. All of this is run by Ky Greene, who is a great person and a good friend to me.

This book is Hail Loki revamped. There are lots of additions and restructuring of rituals that make them more fleshed out and reverent. I am leaving the original book available for purchase since it is very different and more Loki centric. It will always be useful. One difference between this book and the first is that I have merged each chapter’s blots into the rituals and it is a huge improvement, if you ask me. If you just want to take a quick moment to hail Loki and his kin, the blots are in here outside of full blown rituals.

I hope you enjoy the text herein and find the content useful for you as a devotee of Loki and his family It took the better part of a year to write this book and I did the best I could to honor the people in this text. They are all near and dear to my heart as I’m sure they are to yours. Else you wouldn’t be reading this. Or would you?

    Peace,

    Jennifer Lainhart

    The Lokean Calendar

    12 months of Loki.

This idea came to me in 2019 when I saw a dearth of holidays for us Lokeans. At the time we had Lokabrenna and Loki’s birthday, and that was about it. So, I consulted Loki and the result is listed below. I asked him to pick a day between 1 and 28 and he gave me 18. I was like Yes! 2 nines! There are no other Pagan holidays listed, this is strictly Loki based. I hope you find the corresponding prayers and rituals useful and fulfilling as you go though the chapters. You should probably jot down this calendar in your journal as well. Here are the months and their corresponding holidays:

    January 18th: Narfi’s Day

    February 18th: Vali’s Day

    March 18th: Fenrir’s Day

    April 1st: April Fool’s Day

    April 18th: Mischief Day

    May 18th: Sigyn’s Day

    June 18th: Loki’s Day

    July 18th: Jormungand’s Day

    August 18th: Lokabrenna

    September 4th: Spongecake Day

    September 28th: Angrboda’s Day

    October 18th: Hel’s Day

    November 18th: Sleipnir’s Day

    December 13th: Loki’s Birthday

December 18th: Breaking Bonds for the New Year

So, there you have it. I mentioned a journal but I got ahead of myself. You will need a new, blank journal to use alongside this book to record your experiences after each ritual. There is a meditation with each and I encourage you to write down what you see, feel, hear, and think of while you are meditating. You will be establishing relationships with Loki and his family throughout the book and you do not
