About this ebook

Lyon Lynx Clan Prequel

When he turns 21, all Derick Atwater wants is to survive the traditional Party Row shots, pass his winter finals, and try not to fall deeper in lust for his mythology TA, Benoit Chevalier.

After receiving a strange journal with a mysterious phrase: "Under the new moon, during deep winter, a cat will place his paws upon the snow for the first time", he starts to feel weird. His skin ripples. Muscles ache.

Though he would follow the dreamy TA anywhere, he isn't expecting to end up in the middle of a blizzard. Once the truth about his 'flu' is revealed, all Derick really wants now is to pass his finals, but first he needs to survive a very long night.

    Chapter 1

Holy fuck, he was never ever going club-to-club shot drinking ever again. Not even if he could celebrate his twenty-first birthday all over again.

Groaning when his stomach rolled again, Derick Atwater wondered how long a hangover could last. His friends dragged him to all the clubs on Saturday night since he would get one free shot from every club when he revealed his birthday thanks to flashing his license to enter.

With every 21st celebration, there was a competition between everyone in their collection of dormitories to see how far the birthday kid could get along the street the university students nicknamed Party Row. The rules were simple. One shot per club. No puking. Once you puked, you were done. Your shots were tallied and added to the boards. The one with highest tally gets a prize at the end of the semester – fall and spring.

All twelve clubs. All twelve shots downed. No puking.

He could now claim the record. Alone.

Though, holy hell, his belly wanted to kill him now.

Since that crazy wacky night, he felt rotten. It was more than a simple nausea-filled stomach. Muscles cramped throughout his body. Headaches. Fatigue. Part of him wondered if it could be the flu, which would seriously suck to have during finals.

Another roll of his stomach made Derick groan again. He placed one hand on the sink and stared at the bathroom mirror.

"You will not puke your guts. Not now. Not here. Suck it back, he ordered. He pointed a finger at his reflection. Last half hour of work. Get through one class. Then study and bed. That’s it. You will get through this day."

Splashing cool water across his face, Derick cupped and let water slide across the back of his neck. Finishing up, he blotted off the droplets with a towel, washed his hands, and left the room. He adjusted the deep blue apron with the campus bookstore’s logo stitched across the front while he returned to the floor.

Lucky for him that it wasn’t a busy workday. Everyone was either in the library, computer labs, or various study groups to complete final papers and prepare for exams. He should be in the library with everyone else, but he needed to keep this job to subsidize what he received from the scholarships.

Hey, Derick, go ahead and clock out, the store manager, Kenney, said. We’re not busy. You need the study time before your class.

I need the hours for the work program—

I’ll make sure you’re covered, Kenney interrupted him. "Clock out. If this blizzard hits like
