"It is not the destination, it is the journey." I'm excited to share that last week I graduated from the MIT School of Engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a master’s degree in Supply Chain Management 🎓🎓🎓 ! Looking back on this journey, I can't help but think that it didn’t start just a year ago. It truly began when I was studying Industrial Engineering at National University of Engineering, attending the incredible classes of the well remembered Prof. Adolfo Valencia Napan. His knowledge and teaching style captivated me and steered my career towards the world of supply chain management. I was also fortunate to meet great professionals, mentors and colleagues along the way who believed in me and gave me the opportunity to discover my passion in this field. A big thanks to Fernando C. Nikolai Balarin Guerinoni Samantha Alburqueque Silva Eduardo Benedetti. Moreover, I couldn’t have achieved this without the support of my loved ones back in Peru: my parents, siblings, nephew, and my family in general, who provided me with understanding and encouragement throughout my master’s journey. I especially want to highlight my wife Tania Zavala Navarro, who, from the day I started the MITx MicroMasters® Program in Supply Chain Management till the end of the MIT Supply Chain Management Master's Program, offered me unwavering support, encouragement, and strength to achieve my dreams. She was my rock during the toughest times, and I truly admire her so much. You are the best ! To my SCM classmates, I just want to say a BIG thank you! Thank you for making me feel at home even when I was far from my family and country. I will always cherish the moments we shared, from our first day playing the Beer Game, to our time on Thompson Island, shared classes, conversations, laughs, sports events, parties, and trips! You are all amazing, and even though we might not be close because life will take us to different places, I am excited to see the incredible things each of you will achieve! I'm glad to announce that last week I successfully completed the Product Management Certificate from MIT Sloan School of Management! 📜✨   Embarking on this journey was a decision I took to challenge myself and broaden my perspective on various aspects of business. The program provided invaluable insights into the intricate interplay between product development, market strategies, and business operations. The most meaningful insight that resonated in me was that a PM is someone that got all the responsibility with none of the authority, so it is on us to manage by personal influence.   A big thank you to MIT Sloan School of Management and the incredible Prof. Charles Fine who made this learning journey so enriching. I look forward to applying these new skills and insights in my next professional chapter. I’m happy to share that I’ve started my Master's degree at Massachusetts Institute of Technology!

It has been months since I received the notice that I was accepted in the master program that I was looking for. I have to admit that after opening the university decision and reading “Dear Diego, Congratulations…”, my mind blew away and I went blank surrounded by my wife’s joy for such an accomplishment. I had a mix of feelings that still today cannot describe. I remembered when I first noticed about the existence of this program in mid 2018 and just could dream about what would be if someday I would have the opportunity to be admitted and do the master there. Also remembered the preparation that it took to be ready for this, endless nights studying and doing exams on weekends while within the weekdays I continued working hard to move forward in my supply chain professional career. Definitely all the effort was worth it. Nevertheless, with the notice a new challenge also started: making it possible in all aspects. It was not easy to secure fundings, do a lot of paperwork, leave my work, move to another country in the middle and obtain several visas, but finally it is almost here!   And it would be wrong that you think that I made all this on my own. I received support along the way and I am truly grateful. I own a thanks to so many people, but specially to my former colleagues and leaders at Roche, Eduardo Benedetti, Nikolai Balarin Guerinoni and Samantha Alburqueque Silva, who offered me their support during the application process; to my family, who understood the sacrifices made along the path to achieve this milestone; and last but not least, to my wife Tania Zavala Navarro, who supported me unconditionally along the way since I started the micromaster and continuously motivated me to take this next step. Because of this, I am very excited to share with all of you that next week I will be moving to Boston, USA to start a Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics. 2 out of 5 ! We are on the road ! I’m happy to share that I’ve obtained a new certification: Python para el Análisis de Datos from Data Science Research Perú! I enjoyed the practicality of this course and how we were guided across the whole EDA process and even further seeing some small features of machine learning classification models.
