IUCr and ResearchGate announce new Journal Home partnership for complete journals portfolio [posted 18 Jul 2024]  The IUCr and ResearchGate have announced a new partnership that will drive readership and authorship for IUCr Journals through ResearchGate’s innovative Journal Home offering. “We’re very pleased to be partnering with ResearchGate for the IUCr’s complete portfolio of journals, supporting our goals to ensure high-quality peer-reviewed structural science research reaches the widest possible community,” said Alex Stanley, IUCr CEO. Dieter Schwarzenbach (1936–2024) [posted 09 Jul 2024]  We were saddened to learn of the recent death of Dieter Schwarzenbach, Emeritus Professor at EPFL, Lausanne, Switzerland, at the age of 88. Professor Schwarzenbach was Editor of Acta Cryst. A from 2002 to 2011, and Chair of the IUCr Commission on Crystallographic Nomenclature's Subcommittee on Statistical Descriptors. Read more here.

Inaugural meeting of the Senegalese Crystallography Association [posted 16 Feb 2024]  

We are delighted to announce that the Senegalese Crystallography Association is organising its first «Cristal Ô» day on 19 February 2024 at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University Cheikh Anta Diop, Dakar, Senegal. The event, which is being held in collaboration with the IUCr and the African Crystallographic Association, marks a significant milestone in the advancement of crystallography in Senegal and beyond. International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development, 2024–2033 [posted 30 Jan 2024]  An important outcome of the International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development (2022/2023) was the proclamation of the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (IDSSD; 2024–2033). The IUCr was pleased to support the Year and is now proud to support the Decade, with the IUCr President, Professor Santiago García-Granda, due to attend a meeting of the Steering Committee on 9 February 2024. IDSSD will be formally launched in Colombia in October 2024, and aims to foster a more transdisciplinary approach to problem-solving and a scientifically literate global population. Read more.
