Corner joints and edge banding play crucial roles in the strength, durability, and aesthetics of furniture made from particleboards. This review highlights the importance of edge banding on corner joints in enhancing the overall quality of panel furniture. The choice of joint type, materials, and construction techniques can significantly influence the overall appearance and design of the furniture. The quality and design of corner joints directly affect the durability and longevity of furniture. Strong and well-designed corner joints ensure that furniture can withstand various forces and loads without failure or deformation. In addition, corner joints contribute to the aesthetics of furniture by providing seamless and visually appealing connections between different elements. Edge banding plays a crucial role in influencing the strength of corner joints in the furniture. Different edge-banding materials have varying levels of resistance to impact, scratches, and abrasion, which protect furniture surfaces. Overall, edge banding not only enhances the visual appeal of furniture, but also ensures its durability and longevity, both in the service of its purpose and during disassembly and/or transport due to the remodeling of the living space or its relocation. The findings aim to unify the knowledge and set parameters for further research on the quality of corner joints and edge bands in particleboard furniture.

The aim of the study was to identify limiting factors for reusing wood through the recycling of window frames by conducting research under fully controlled conditions. The research involved manufacturing new window frames, seasoning them, and then shredding them into wood particles to prepare a three-layer particleboard. The proportion of wood particles in recycling was 0, 5, 10, 25, 50, and 100 parts by weight of the manufactured particleboard. Mechanical property tests were conducted: modulus of elasticity (MOE) and modulus of rupture (MOR), internal bond (IB), screw withdrawal resistance (SWR), and physical properties: density profile (DP), thickness swelling (TS) after water immersion, water absorption (WA), as well as formaldehyde emission and total volatile organic compounds (TVOC) tests. The conducted research indicates a significant potential for utilising wood from this sector of the wood industry, particularly considering variants with a higher proportion of recycled wood. MOR and MOE results are most promising for variants above 50 parts by weight of recycled wood. Based on the results obtained, it is clear that the production process should be improved or the raw material modified to enhance the internal bonding of particleboard, as these results were the weakest. Thus, recycled wood from window joinery has the potential to be reincarnated as particleboard, which continues to be widely used in their production.

In the era of Industry 4.0, the focus on optimizing manufacturing processes is crucial. This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the EnPAS system, a proprietary automated control and monitoring tool developed by KAD3, implemented in the production process of Corten steel furnishings - the "Lila" chair and "Line" planter. Designed to enhance operational efficiency, EnPAS facilitates improved workflow by streamlining production stages and reducing downtime. The research design involves a comparative analysis of the workshop's production process, both before and after the implementation of the EnPAS system. Elements such as de-greasing, oxidation, and finishing stages, among others, were examined. The implementation of the EnPAS system led to a significant reduction in the total production time for both products. Further, there was a substantial decrease in waiting time and setup time. These findings unequivocally indicate the transformative impact of the EnPAS system on the manufacturing process, showcasing its potential in driving efficiency improvements, reducing production times, and increasing output. The study underscores the importance of leveraging such advanced control and monitoring tools to optimize modern manufacturing processes and does not exaggerate conclusions not backed by the research.

During the production of furniture, large amounts of waste of these materials are generated, which are most often stored in warehouses without a specific purpose for their subsequent use. In highly developed countries, as many as 25 million tons of textile waste are produced annually, of which approximately 40% is non-clothing waste, such as carpets, furniture and car upholstery. The aim of the research was to produce and evaluate the dry-formed high-density fiberboards (HDF) with various shares of recycled particles of natural leather used in upholstery furniture production at different contents (1, 5 and 10% by weight). Mechanical properties (modulus of rupture, modulus of elasticity and screw withdrawal resistance) and physical properties (density profile, thickness swelling after water immersion, water absorption, surface absorption) were tested. The density profile and contact angle of natural leather have been also characterized. The results show that increasing the content of leather particles in HDF mostly has a positive effect on mechanical properties, especially screw withdrawal resistance and water absorption. It can be concluded, that, depending on the further use of HDF, it is possible to use recovered upholstery leather particles as a reasonable addition to wood fibers in HDF technology.

Historical city textures are living history embodying public open spaces of former civilizations, their landscapes and traditional life cultures, carrying them to the present and giving them life. The squares, which form the public open spaces, have been important meeting centers in the social lives of people. City furniture are the important elements in these public open spaces, reflecting the identity of the city and improving quality of life. City furniture improve the reflection of cultural value in historical city textures and their usability. The walled city center, where the historical city texture of Nicosia lies, has a very rich historical texture with the cultural heritage of various civilizations in the history of Cyprus. Public open spaces within the texture, which have acquired the quality of squares with their functions throughout the social history of Nicosia, are still important social spaces for the people of the city. This study analyzed Asmaaltı and Selimiye Squares, two important spaces of the walled city, through examining the city furniture in terms of their material, shape, and functionality, and their conformity with the historical texture. Their deficiencies and nonconformities with the historical texture were identified accordingly. In consideration with such examples, city furniture in historical city textures were assessed for their conformity with the texture characteristics, architectural styles, social, cultural, and economical characteristics, and relevant recommendations are presented respectively.

With the continuous improvement of people's quality of life and aesthetics, furniture products have higher requirements. Excellent solid wood chairs are the most representative products in furniture to enhance space and taste and whose design may significantly impact consumers' emo-tional experience and purchase decisions. This study aims to evaluate how the modeling imagery of solid wood chairs affects user preferences and emotional experiences. The development of the current era is inseparable from the analysis of big data. Firstly, a representative sample was ob-tained by multidimensional scaling (MDS), and the sample was analyzed and evaluated by fac-tor analysis. Moreover, five groups of adjective vocabulary were selected to describe the model-ing imagery of solid wood chairs, such as "balanced and coordinated", "unique and novel", "prac-tical and simple", "quality and detailed" and "traditional and plain". Further, the triangular fuzzy theory was applied to analyze and discuss the 12 types of solid wood chairs in the five groups of adjective vocabulary. Then the study verified that the differences in the evaluations of the 12 sam-ples in the "unique and novel" and "quality and detailed" groups were significant, but more minor differences in the groups of "traditional and plain", "balanced and coordinated" and "practical and simple". Through comprehensive comparison, five groups with similar modeling imagery were created, and solid wood chairs with different modeling imagery should be placed in suita-ble spaces. According to the results of this study, the evaluation of the modeling imagery of solid wood chairs can not only rely on subjective judgments but can be reasonably described through data analysis and mathematical algorithms. It can scientifically and effectively reflect the poten-tial perception needs of consumers on the modeling imagery of solid wood chairs, as well as help to improve the design efficiency of the furniture product development stage.
