Assessment of the Chinese Literature for Nursing Informatics Education Initiatives

This study aimed to understand the status of nursing informatics in Mainland China. Articles on nursing informatics, published between 2009 and 2018, were retrieved from the CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure) database. A total of 51 papers were identified and analyzed. The journals, annual publications, and co-occurrence of keywords were analyzed with the bibliometric analysis. The result will help us better understand the nursing informatics research in mainland China.

This study aimed to use CiteSpace software to conduct a bibliometric analysis of published on the nursing informatics competencies from 2000 to 2020. Data were obtained from the China National Knowledge Infrastructure and Wanfang Database. Co-occurrence analysis, collaboration analysis and Co-Words Analysis of keywords were conducted by using CiteSpace5.7 R2 software. A total of 496 publications were obtained. The number of publications generally increased over the investigated period. The most publications were from colleges and universities. ‘Influencing factor’, ‘nursing informatics competencies’, and ‘nursing education’ were the hotspots recently. The study may be helpful for researchers in identifying the research status quo, trend and development of nursing informatics competencies in China in the future.

AbstractTaiwan studies is confronting several challenges from within and outside the academy to its vitality if not viability. The growing attraction of mainland China to researchers, the encroachment of disciplines and marginalization of area studies, and the closing life cycles of several of the most salient research themes on Taiwan, have all contributed to the sense of a field in decline. This article seeks to provide a more concrete empirical basis for assessing the state of the Taiwan studies field. Drawing on content analysis of journal publications, combined with citation data and a survey of Taiwan specialists, the article addresses a number of key questions about the field.

Eimeria spp. cause the disease coccidiosis, which results in chronic wasting of livestock and can lead to the death of the animal. The disease, common worldwide, has caused huge economic losses to the cattle industry in particular. This is the first systematic review and meta-analysis of the prevalence of bovine Eimeria in China. Our search of five databases including PubMed, ScienceDirect, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Chongqing VIP, and Wan Fang for articles published up to February 29, 2020 on the prevalence of Eimeria in cattle in mainland China yielded 46 articles, in which the prevalence of cattle ranged from 4.6% to 87.5%. The rate of bovine Eimeria infection has been decreasing year by year, from 57.9% before 2000 to 25.0% after 2015, but it is still high. We also analyzed the region, sampling years, detection methods, feeding model, seasons, and species of bovine Eimeria. We recommend that prevention strategies should focus on strengthening detection of Eimeria in calves in the intensive farming model.

Abstract Background Research is a fundamental element in the sustainable development of hospice and palliative care. Mainland China is facing increasing demand for hospice and palliative care and has launched related policies over the past decade. However, the state of research and publications in this field in China remains largely unknown. This study aimed to provide an overall picture of hospice-and palliative care -related research and publications in Mainland China from 2010 to 2019. Methods We searched Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, CINAHL, OVID, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure for hospice-and palliative care -related publications in English and Chinese for 2010–2019. We analyzed the production, citations and impacts, publishing journals, region and institution of origin, and themes and active topics. Results A total of 3224 publications were identified, and 636 of them were considered of high quality. The production and impacts showed a clear increase—especially after 2016. However, the regional disparity between East and Western China in production was conspicuous and closely linked to economic factors. Beijing and Shanghai were the most productive regions. The hospice providers in the first five pilot regions had no collaboration with leading universities in their publications. Hospice and palliative care for cancer patients was the most common publication topic; some essential themes were rarely explored. Conclusion Research and publications of hospice and palliative care in Mainland China is developing faster than before; however, it remains at an early stage and should be promoted in terms of interregional equity. Collaboration among different disciplines, institutes, and regions should be encouraged.

This article tries to analyze the present status of phonics teaching in Mainland China by using documentary research method through sorting out all the essays about phonics teaching in CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure) according to their research contents and research methods. The data collected shows that Phonics, Pinyin and IPA are mainly discussed topics, especially different roles of them in English teaching. Unfortunately, misconceptions about phonics do appear in some of those essays collected, while localization of phonics is emerging. This paper seems to shed light on a general overview of English phonics teaching in Mainland China for English teachers and researchers and cope up with the difficult points and conflicts to provide improvement for phonics teaching.

A bibliometric analysis is applied in this research to evaluate the trends of social organization research between 1994 and 2014 in published Chinese literature of all subject categories from China National Knowledge Infrastructure (cnki) database. Document types, publication patterns, subject categories, journal articles, top cited papers, and long-term distribution of keyword networks are thoroughly examined. Bibliographic information is used to summarize the overall research trends, themes, and academic trajectorys of this research area. The study indicates that over the past 20 years, the development of China’s social organization research has four stages. In addition, both theoretical and practical explorations of China’s social organization research are growing progressively with a shift of research focus from Westernization to localization, from civil society to public service, and from small independent researchers to a discourse system of significant scale.

Oral mucosal disease (OMD) is a public health challenge globally, but the epidemiological findings in older adults have been inconsistent in China. Thus, this meta-analysis was carried out to explore the prevalence of OMD and its moderating factors in this population. An electronic literature search was conducted of both international (PubMed, PsycINFO, and EMBASE) and Chinese (China National Knowledge Infrastructure and WanFang) databases from inception to November 1, 2019. The Der–Simonian and Laird random effects model was used to synthesize the prevalence of OMD and its 95% confidence intervals (95% CI). Twenty-four studies covering 23,653 older adults were included. The pooled prevalence of OMD was 23% (95% confidence interval: 17.9%–29.0%) Subgroup analyses and meta-analysis revealed that the prevalence of OMD was significantly associated with the reporting sampling, year of publication, and survey (all p values <0.05). This meta-analysis found that the prevalence of OMD among older adults in mainland China was significantly high. Early detection and effective intervention of OMD in older adults have public health and clinical importance.

The cesarean section (CS) on maternal request increased sharply in China, bringing pressure to medical resources and national insurance. We assessed the use of clinical pathways (CPWs) for CS compared with conventional medical care by outcomes of length of stay (LOS) in hospital and direct hospitalization cost (DHC). Four Chinese electronic databases, including China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang, CQVIP, and SinoMed, were explored to December 2020 for the full-text papers published in Chinese. Literature that quantitatively assessed the effects of CPW on LOS or DHC were eligible for inclusion. The weighted mean differences (WMDs) were pooled. Twenty-five articles were included in our analysis, with a total sample of 7761 women. These studies were performed from 2004 to 2017 and reported from 2005 to 2018. The synthesized results showed a shorter LOS (in days) (WMD = −1.37, 95% CI: −1.48 to −1.26) and a less DHC (CNY¥) (WMD = −520.46, 95% CI: −554.06 to −503.63) in the CPW group, comparing with that of conventional care. With the need for CS on the rise, the introduction of CPW could effectively reduce LOS and DHC, thereby releasing the medical resources and insurance pressure.
