Abstract The spray dustless machine is an important environmental protection equipment for harnessing haze. The booster impeller of the spray dustless machine is one of the decisive factors of the booster capacity. The stability of the blade directly determines the reliability of the spray duster. In this paper, ANSYS Workbench is used to analyze the mechanical characteristics of a certain type of spray dustless blade. The results show that: under the rated condition, the maximum equivalent stress of the impeller is 55.6Mpa, which is far less than the allowable stress of the impeller material 415Mpa, the maximum deformation of the circumferential position at the bottom of the blade is 1.2mm, and other deformation positions are mainly the outer edge of the blade, which can be optimized later. The interference frequency is far away from the vibration frequency of the first two modes, so resonance will not occur.

Abstract The fabrication of conformal cooling channels (CCC's) has become easier and more affordable due to recent developments in additive manufacturing. The use of CCC's allows better cooling performance than the conventional (straight drilled) channels, in the injection molding process. The main reason for this is that the CCC's can follow the paths of the molded geometry, whereas the conventional channels made by conventional machining techniques are not able to do so. CCCs can help to reduce thermal strains and warpage by reducing cycle time and allowing for a more uniform temperature distribution. CCC, on the other hand, has a more complicated design procedure than traditional channels. Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) simulations) are crucial to achieve an effective and cost-efficient design. This article focuses the comparison of two ANSYS modules, for results validation. The relative error between ANSYS Workbench and ANSYS Mechanical APDL varied from close to 0 to below 1 %, in the case of maximum temperature Tmax, and between 1.5 to 5.5 approximately, for the average temperature Tavg. It can be concluded that, for the most refined mesh studied, the results are close by the two modules. Therefore, the ANSYS module to work on should be used based on the purpose of the work, as well as the complexity of the CAD geometry.

Since the output torque of the rotary reducer of the ZYL-15000D-kilometer directional drill is proportional to the gear train transmission ratio, the output torque is large enough when the input speed and output speed meet the design goal. This paper selects the method of reducing the transmission ratio to optimize the size parameters of the reducer. MATLAB genetic algorithm is used in the optimization design, and the minimum volume of the rotary part reducer is taken as the objective of optimization design, while the design variables and constraints are determined. The optimal value of design variables was obtained through optimization, and the parameter values of each gear were determined accordingly. Through analysis, the total volume of the optimized gear reducer was reduced by 49.6%. Then, the 3D model of the optimized gear was created, and the analysis of the transient dynamics of the optimized gear was carried out with ANSYS Workbench software. According to the analysis results, the optimized gear met the strength requirements and provided a reference for the subsequent optimization design of other types of gear reducers.

This paper presents the assessment of different piston head geometry made of aluminum and magnesium alloy. ANSYS finite element analysis is used to analyze the piston under static and transient conditions. Round and flat piston head is constructed using SOLIDWORK software and the exported to ANSYS WORKBENCH. According to static analysis, it is found that flat head piston produced higher stress compared with round head piston. Similar trend is observed when transient analysis is conducted where round piston head capable to produce almost stress consistency with respect to time.

Braking is a phenomenon of stabilizing a moving vehicle to rest by actuating the braking system. The available kinetic energy from the dynamic body is transformed into mechanical energy by the braking system which is further converted into thermal energy for its dissipation into the surroundings. During the process of braking, the frictional contact between the brake disc and brake pad creates enormous amount of heat elevating the temperature of the system to a higher level. The objective of this numerical study is to minimize the heat produced during the braking process. Three unique ventilated brake disc and two brake pad profiles were developed using PTC Creo modelling tool and were subjected to ANSYS workbench to evaluate its thermal and structural performance with a braking cycle time of 4.50 sec. Total deformation, equivalent stress, temperature distribution and total heal flux were assessed. Based on the study, ventilated disc 3 can be the possible design with either of the brake pad profiles for effective usage in the automotive braking system.

Abstract The piston performance may be impacted by piston geometry, stress, temperature and deformation applied. Thus, the purpose of this study is to investigate the changes of piston performance with different piston head designs. Besides, the piston is optimized by using topology optimization to remove excessive material. The study was carried out by using the dimension of a piston based on the cylinder of a spark ignition engine. The four piston head designs are flat-top piston, bowl piston, square bowl piston and dome piston. All four piston designs were modelled by using Solidworks. Static Structural and Steady State Thermal Analysis in ANSYS Workbench were used to analyze the piston performance. The measured parameters are stress, deformation and temperature distribution. Next, optimization of piston was done by using topology optimization to identify non-essential parts that can be removed. The optimized piston design was analyzed. The findings for the original and optimized piston geometries were tabulated to make comparison. It is found that bowl piston has lower stress, deformation and temperature. The stress, deformation and temperature of optimized piston is lower than original piston. The mass of optimized piston is about 5 percent lesser than the original piston.

The lower rocker arm is an important part of the vertical roller mill and its lightweight design is of great significance for reducing the mass and production cost of the roller mill. Firstly, the strength and deformation distribution of the lower rocker arm under working load were analyzed by ANSYS Workbench to determine the maximum stress and maximum deformation. The parts with large strength margin were used as the basis for the optimal design. During the analysis, firstly, the arm body of the lower rocker arm was determined part of the lightweight design. Secondly, the mass of the lower rocker arm was taken as the optimization target, the stress and displacement generated by the load of the lower rocker arm were taken as the constraint conditions, the structural size of the internal cavity of the lower rocker arm was taken as the optimization design parameter, and the mathematical model of the optimization design was established. Finally, the structural size of the internal cavity of the lower rocker arm was optimized by using the response surface optimization module and multi-objective genetic algorithm in ANSYS Workbench. The optimum results show that, compared with the original design model, the lower rocker mass was reduced by 346.3 kg and the decrease was about 5.29%, while the strength and deformation were nearly unchanged. Therefore, by optimizing the design, the material is saved and the cost is reduced, which can provide a reference basis for the design and light weight of the lower rocker arm.
