Image Resolution
Image resolution can be defined as the acute detail of an image measured in pixels per inch (ppi). An image with higher number of pixels has a higher resolution and high quality. Image resolution = number of pixels/printed length of an image Scanning Image When you scan an image, scan it to the size that you actually want as the final output. This will help you retain the clarity of your photograph. For example, suppose you are designing an advertisement to be printed on an uncoated newsprint paper. The photo you are scanning will double in size in the print. In this case, you need to work on the scanning resolution. Since the advertisement is going to be used on an uncoated newsprint paper, it will be printed on an image setter. Opening and Placing Image OPENING AN IMAGE:- Images can be opened and placed in various file formats. To open files, use the Open command or the Open Recent command available on the file menu. To specify the number of listed in the Open Recent command; change the value of the Recent file list contains option in the file handling preferences. To open File Handling preference, on the Edit menu, click preferences, and then click File Handling. You can also open files into Photoshop using Adobe Bridge. You can also open and edit still images, video files, and image sequence files.

PLACING AN IMAGE To place an image, you can use the place command. Using this command, you can place an artwork, or any other Photoshop-supported file as a smart Object to your document. To place a file, on the file menu, click place. The place dialog box will be displayed. Browse and select the file that you want to place and then click place.
