Dynamics

The document is a homework assignment on dynamics that includes 4 problems to solve from the textbook. It provides the chapter and problem numbers as references. It instructs the student to show their work clearly and use multiple pages. The 4 problems involve determining speeds and accelerations of blocks and objects connected by cables and pulleys in different systems, including one on an inclined plane. Friction and masses of all objects are provided.

Problem 2: [1, 1310] The elevator has a mass of mE = 500 kg and the counterweight at A has a mass of mA = 150 kg. If the elevator attains a speed of v = 10 m/s after it rises a distance h = 40 m, determine the constant force developed in the cable at B . Neglect the mass of the pulleys and cable.

Problem 3: [1, 1327] The safe S has a weight of W = 200 lb, and is supported by the rope and pulley arrangement shown. If the end of the rope is given to a boy of weight Wb = 90 lb, determine his acceleration if in the confusion he doesnt let go of the rope. Neglect the mass of the pulleys and rope.

Problem 4: [1, 1336] The blocks of weight WA = 80 lb and WB = 20 lb are connected by a cable and pulley system and the rough surface ( = 0.20) is inclined at an angle = 60 . Determine the acceleration of block A when the system is released from rest. Neglect the mass of the pulleys and cord.
