Dear Graduate Admissions,
I am writing to enthusiastically recommend Kerry Caulfield for admission Wheelock College to pursue a
Masters in Early Childhood Education. Ms. Caulfield worked as the para professional in my classroom
three years ago at the Philbrick Elementary School. She is a very patient, insightful, and organized young
woman.
At the beginning of the school year Ms. Caulfield was assigned to my classroom through the Boston
Public Schools para professional pool. Working with a para can be a challenge. However, for Ms.
Caulfield and I this match was a perfect fit and a blessing in disguise. From the first day of school Ms.
Caulfield was able to watch, follow, and implement the classroom routines and procedures to support a
health-learning environment that ensured the best quality education for all of the children in my
classroom. Ms. Caulfield is very intuitive, enabling her to take initiative and be a sound decision maker
for our classroom. Ms. Caulfield did an excellent job performing and completing all of the tasks she was
assigned. All of her work was completed in a timely, organized, and thoughtful manner. In addition, Ms.
Caulfield is inquisitive and reflective in her practices. Most importantly, Ms. Caulfield was able to foster
a love of learning in all of the children in my classroom. Without her support my classroom would not
have been such a success.
I can say as a teacher who has worked with many para professionals throughout my six years of teaching
in the Boston Public Schools that Ms. Caulfield is a unique individual and will make a great teacher. Ms.
Caulfield possesses the intellectual curiosity, the work ethic, and the motivation to succeed in any
academic setting. I have no doubt that Ms. Caulfield will be a great asset to your Education program and
that she will excel in graduate school. Wheelock College would be lucky to have her.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Marissa Thornton

To Whom It May Concern:
It is with great honor that I write this letter to highly recommend Kerry Caulfield to your Graduate program at
Wheelock College. I have known Kerry for close to two years and had served as her direct supervisor at
Orchard Gardens K-8 Pilot School. Although I am no longer at Orchard Gardens, I feel fully confident that
Kerry will serve as a major asset to your program.
Ms. Caulfield is a paraprofessional in a Kindergarten classroom. Upon Kerrys arrival, the collaboration
between teachers and paraprofessionals was immediately brought to a new level. Kerry and her partner
teacher would spend countless hours preparing for instruction and analyzing student progress. As a result,
students assessment results were high and their language acquisition showed it.
Ms. Caulfield also brought a project-based approach to the classroom in which she worked. It was due to
Kerrys ideas in which students were immersed in, for example, sorting and writing through the Post Office
dramatic play center followed by a trip to the post office. Students in Ms. Caulfields class were and are
excited to learn. Kerrys ideas and knowledge separated her as one of our best paraprofessionals.
Kerry is also extremely flexible which is a needed quality in education. There were times when I would ask
Kerry to cover a class at a moments notice. Not only would she be able to walk into any class and take over,
she would also add her flare which helped students retain the information. Teachers always loved and knew
when Ms. Caulfield was with their students.
There is no doubt in my mind that Kerry Caulfield is a gifted educator. She has been spending many years in
classrooms assisting and learning. I have seen her emerge as a strong teacher. Therefore, enrolling in
Wheelock College Education program seems like the logical next step.
Please feel free to contact me with any further questions you may have.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Christine Pruitt
