fraction I can identify different types of fraction Naming parts of the fraction There are 3 parts of a fraction. The numerator, vinculum and the denominator. The numerator is the number of parts that we take. It is the top number. The denominator is the total number. It is the bottom number. The vinculum is the line that separated both the numerator and denominator. It indicated that we are dividing the number.
Proper Fractions Proper fractions is when the numerator is larger then the denominator. Proper fractions do not mean correct or best. If I said is one third, it doesnt make it an improper fraction.
For eg:
Improper fractions An improper fraction is when the denominator is smaller the numerator. It does not mean that it is wrong or incorrect. Its just what its called.
For eg: 7/4 6/2 8/5 Mixed fraction A mixed fraction is when there is a whole number as well as a fraction. You can get a whole number if the denominator and numerator are the same.
