Police Combat Misuse and Abuse of Prescription Medications
On Saturday, September 27, 2014, in order to combat the misuse and abuse of prescription medications, Officer Mike Panek, of the Riverside Police Department, joined the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Chicago Field Division in a National Prescription Drug Take- Back. This initiative allows the public to safely and effectively dispose of unused prescription medication. The outstanding participation of the public allowed the Riverside Police Department to collect 51lbs of prescription and over-the-counter medications. This is a slight increase from the 49lbs collected on April 26th, and the Riverside Police Department considers this a success. The Riverside Police Department encourages all to inform friends and family of this beneficial event and to stay tuned for future collection dates.
