On Monday, January 11, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the Forest Park Village Board
meeting, Riverside Police Chief and WEDGE Chairperson Thomas Weitzel will
present a service award to Forest Park Deputy Chief Michael Keating for his
service as part of WEDGE.
Chief Keating served as the WEDGE street commander from 2010 to 2015
and as such was in charge of all WEDGE personnel and street operations.
Recently, Commander Keating was promoted to Deputy Chief for the Forest
Park Police Department.
Chief Weitzel stated, I am honored to acknowledge the years of service that
Deputy Chief Keating dedicated to the WEDGE gang and drug task force.
Without a doubt, the success of this task force is due in large part to the
professional supervision provided by Deputy Chief Keating. Mike is one of the
most hard-working police officers I have ever known in my 30-year career. He
is dedicated to serving the residents of Forest Park and has a global view of
law enforcement services. He was able to manage over 30 individual officers
from 10 municipalities into an elite team of tactical investigators. That is no
easy task and the productivity of the WEDGE Unit between 2010 and 2015 is
evidence of Mike's outstanding supervision and leadership.
WEDGE: A Regional Task Force of West Suburban Cook County Police Agencies Representing a Population of Over 250,000 Residents.
