adverb?
An adverb tells you more about a
verb (doing word)
It tells you where, why, or how
much something happens or is
done.

Adverbs of purpose describe why something
happens. Here are some common
examples:
Jenny walks carefully to avoid falling.
Bob accidentally broke the vase.
Adverbs of frequency describe how often
something happens. The following adverbs
are commonly used in this way:
Mackenzie gets a ride from her brother every day.
The fish usually swims near the top of its tank.
Adverbs and Their Function
an adverb modifies other verbs(verbs are in bold/adverbs are in italics)
The thief acts stupidly. (answers the question:how?)
The thief robs locally. (answers the question:where?)
The position of an adverb often depends on the kind of adverb
(manner, place, time, degree). The following table gives you
some guidelines for placement based on the kind of adverb.
