Individual Teacher Technology Assessment

For this coaching project, Mrs. Kathren Inman and I will be working together. Mrs.
Inman is a media specialist at Dickerson Middle School in Cobb County. She had been the media
specialist there for about 15 years now. She teaches the middle school students there how to use
library resources, research methods, and helps the teachers with any technology needs they may
have.
After conducting an interview with Mrs. Inman, she declared that she had an ample
amount of technology available to her. Her perception on coaching is It should be one on one.
Teachers could feel threatened by others ability. You cant teach it in a lab to a group because
some catch on faster with others. It really needs to be one on one. You need to have descriptive
handouts so that it is written out for people who learn by reading. You do not want anyone to
feel over whelmed by learning something new. (Inman, 2013) She said that with her job, she is
required to use technology on daily basis.
Mrs. Inman would qualify at an early majority level. She may not always be the first to
jump on a new innovation but once a few people get the ball rolling, she very willing learns how
to use it and how to implement it so that she can helps others get on board. She said that she
may not always have the time to learn all the new methods that she would like, but that does not
mean that she does not want to learn them. She did express some frustration with technology.
Mrs. Inman said, Technology changes so quickly. It can be very frustrating when everyone is
finally on board and then the technology stops working or the school changes it to something
totally new. According to the Level of Technology Implementation survey she took, she is not
very comfortable with uploading digital media but she is very comfortable with the Microsoft
processing tools. She feels very able to use the internet to search and locate websites. She said

that because of her job, she uses technology everyday as do the students around her. She does
not use a varied amount of different media formats but would like to learn. She could be
categorized mainly in the LoTi levels as a 2 or a 3. Students do use the technology to reinforce
the higher level thinking through word processing, research, and spreadsheets.
We have decided to work on Web 2.0 tools, specifically Glogster and Prezi. We have to
decide to meet on Tuesday and Thursdays. We will be meeting with Google video or Skype.
