Phonics
Phonics can be defined as the
method of teaching elementary
reading and spelling based on the
phonetic interpretation of ordinary
spelling.
Phonics creates skilled and fluent
readers.

Phonemic Awareness
Phonemic awareness is the ability to hear,
identify, and manipulate individual soundphonemes--in spoken words.
Phonemic Awareness is important for students
because:
It improves a childs comprehension skills

Fluency
With the proper fluency skills,
students can recognize words
without hassle.
Fluency is the ability to read
quickly and accurately with
expression and intonation.
