Jacobs, W.E., and Maureen McMahon. "Counterpoint: School Children Should Learn To Defend
Themselves Against Bullies." Points Of View: Bullying In Schools (2015): 3. Points of
View Reference Center. Web. 7 May 2015.
The article states that dealing with bullying is a part of growing up. Usually bullies
choose from the beginning a vulnerable person, like people with mental or physical disabilities.
But also genetic differences, normal intelligence or being a newcomer at school could make you
a victim. Sometimes nobody really notices what is going on. Often teacher try to separate the
victim and the bully. But the victims should not just play the helpless ones. They need to learn
how to defend themselves. There should be a focus on changing the victims behavior and not
just trying to change the bullies behavior. The article supports my position that you should stand

up for yourself and never just play the defenseless victim, you can help stop bullying with your
own actions.
Lee, Deborah, and Denise B. Geier. "Bullying In Schools: An Overview." Points Of View:
Bullying In Schools (2015): 1.Points of View Reference Center. Web. 7 May 2015.
The article gives basic information and thoughts about bullying in school. It is a social
issue. Even President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama stated their thoughts.
Usually the reason why children are being bullied is because they dont fit in with the other kids.
Often it is because of their different social, ethnic or financial background. Bullying behavior,
physical or verbal insults can continue into the adulthood. The whole bullying situation involves
3 players. The bully (that could also be a group), the victim and the group of children who are
neither bully nor victim. That group can make a huge difference, they either encourage or
discourage the bully with their behavior what could lead to more bullying or to stop it. The
article is supporting my opinion that bullying is a social issue and everyone can be a part of it,
but together we can try to stop it.
