Planning and Layout of Ports

Ships currently in use, under construction, and expected to be built in the future will influence plans to improve and build new ports. At the same time, existing port facilities and physical/economic constraints may influence the types and sizes of ships that can use those facilities now and in the future. Port planning requires considering both current and future ship sizes and types as well as existing infrastructure limitations.
