Report For Problem-1 of CFD Lab Autumn Semester Year 2015-16

The document is a report for a CFD lab problem that includes calculations of the Reynolds number and friction factor based on CFD simulations. It provides results like the radial profile of axial velocity compared to theory, snapshots of velocity contours at the inlet and outlet showing differences and why, and the pressure drop calculated. It concludes with the percent error in predicting friction factor between the CFD simulation and Blasius equation.

Radial Profile of Axial velocity:
Show the snapshot of the radial velocity profile of axial velocity as seen in
openFoam.
Plot the radial profile of the axial velocity profile in the middle of the pipe
obtained from your simulation (use discrete markers without line for this). Also
plot the radial profile of the axial velocity obtained from the theoretical expression
given in the problem manual (use continuous line without markers for this).
Comment on how good is the prediction of radial profile of the axial velocity
using CFD simulation.
Discuss briefly how the prediction of the radial profile of axial velocity can be
improved.
Snapshot of the velocity contours at the inlet and the outlet:
What is the difference between the velocity contours at the inlet and the outlet?
Why is this difference?
