Analysis of Learner Language

This document analyzes samples of language from learners of a second language. It describes three student samples - a low, medium, and high level learner. For each, it identifies errors in their writing and speaking, classifies the type of error, and determines the potential cause. Error analysis is a method used to analyze
learners errors that appear in learner language.

Five steps to analyses


Teachers can do an error analysis in the
classroom with using 6 steps : (Corder,1975)
1. collect samples of learner language.
2. Identification of error.
3. Description of errors. ( Classification into
error types)
4. Explanation of errors.
5. Identification of the areas of difficulty in
the target language. (causes of error)
6. Therapy (remedial drills, lessons, etc.).

Evidence & justification

As a teacher , I see that students make some


error in their speech when they have not yet
learned in the second language because they
take time of studying L2 just five hours a week

Using a foreign language that interfere with the


rules of their L1 (syntax, pronunciation, grammar,
cultural constructions, etc.)

Strategies for teacher intervention


Teacher have to choose strategy that is challenging
but manageable for her class and correct mistakes
and error in positive ways.
