Fault Current
The 33kV system at Grid end is Resistance Grounded through 19ohms resistor. Hence the single
Line to ground fault is limited to
= (33/3)*1000
19
= 1002 amps.
Considering the fault occurs when two transformers are paralleled, the maximum earth fault
current at source is considered as 2kA.
It can also be seen that, the corresponding source end substation and SIP-B substation are
interconnected through cable. Hence, if any Single Line to Ground fault occurs, then the actual
current will be lower than 2kA
Main Grid Conductor
As per the conductor sizing attached as per the conductor sizing calculation, the minimum
conductor size required for a fault current of 25kA and for duration of 3sec is 186sq.mm.
However, as per OES requirement, the cross section will be 300sq.mm i.e 50 x 6mm cu. Flat.
