Entry 2: Technology to Enhance Instruction

Integrating Instructional Technology

Technology would be used to facilitate learning and enhance instruction in the classroom in
several ways. Technology serves as an alternative to instructional teaching. Technology can be
used in addition to the way teachers teach students. Technology have replaced many things
during the instructional day. Teachers can use a smart board to teach lessons on a screen varies
writing on a chalk board. Through technology teachers are to reach the mass of students.
Technology allow teachers the ability to teach in many different ways. Teachers are able to
connect with students and monitor their progress throughout the class. Teachers can us
technology through the use of the internet to gather information and help students access many
different websites.

(Smart board)
A smart board is a device that used to give students the opportunity specific technology is
used in the classroom to facilitate and enhance instruction. Teachers and students are able to
interact using a smartboard to complete online assignments as a group, engage in interacting
lessons and classwork. Most smartboard are touch screen which allow students and teacher to
engage in communicating skills, following directions and responding to questions. I will use a
smart screen to teach students new material so they will be able to visually see the information

that is being presented them. I will use a smartboard to teach subjects that more hands on and
require interaction with students such as science.
(Computer)
Through the use of computers teachers can introduce new concepts, prepare students for a
lesson and describe background information for assignment. Page 377 Textbook. Students are
able to use computers to surf the web with teachers supervision, research activities, complete
assignments, projects ab=and present their assignment to the teacher. I will use computers to
enhance reading skills and increase vocabulary growth among students. I will allow students the
opportunity to play educational games on the computer to build and strengthen vocabulary.

(PowerPoint and Word Excel)

PowerPoint and word excel can be used to integrate technology within the classroom.
With the use of PowerPoint, students are able to create a presentation or oral report. Students are
able to bring presentations to life by adding video clip, animation and imagery. Students are able
to explore and create presentations. Excel is an application that is beneficial to the class. Students
are able to create calendars, charts, graphs, timelines, and spreadsheets. I will allow students the
opportunity to use word excel to prepare graph and charts for varies subjects.

Pros and Cons of using Technology to Facilitate Learning (200-300 words)

The Pro in using technology to facilitate learning students will be more engaged and involved in
the learning process. Teachers are able to save and email lessons to students for future usage.
Students are able to view all information that teachers share to students. Teachers can allow
students to use tablets during class to take notes instead of writing everything free hand. Students
are able to use technology to record teachers voice and take notes of the entire lecture that was
presented during class. The Cons in using technology to facilitate leaning is that students will
become totally reliant on technology to complete the basic task that they can complete or
compute on their own. Students depend solely on technology to solve equations that they can
solve on their own. The cost of technology is a major disadvantage for schools that have limited
funds. The cost of technology has increased significantly. In the event if technology crash the
world will be at a halt because we have become accustom to technology doing everything for us.
Teachers will have to consistently monitor student usage and fix problems that may arise if a
computer isnt working properly. Although technology is a major asset to students and teachers,
we must not become reliant on technology to do everything for us.

Wired and Wireless Classrooms (100-200 words)

The difference between wired and wireless classrooms differs based on the school district. The
difference is based on how technology is utilized within the class room. A wired classroom can
consist of desktops and lab tops that use dial up service to connect to internet. A worried
classroom use a wireless LAN or wireless Ethernet to provide access to various computers. A
wired network utilize cables to connect to buildings. A wireless classrooms are composed of
various forms of technology such as a laptops with CD Rom and wireless network. Through the
use of a wireless network students are to utilize laptops, IPad and Tablets to complete assignment
without having wires or cables to support their usage. Students are able to use devices to
complete daily assignments without the need to sit behind a desk using a desktop computer. With
a wireless network students are to use device in many different locations or areas within the
school. Students are able to be mobile while using technology within the classroom.

Conclusion
Teachers can use technology as a tool to enhance learning, motivate and encourage
students. Technology allow teachers the opportunity to connect with students using a variety of
techniques to help each student learn. Technology bring about a new learning style where
students can grow and become independent learners. Through technology students are able to
become engaged and involved in lessons that are being taught. Placing technology in the
classroom is an excellent way to integrate technology.
