Sweden is located in Northern Europe.
Sweden borders Norway, Denmark and
Finland.
Sweden is a country located and is a part of
the
Scandinavian region in Northern Europe.
Sweden is 450,295 square kilometres in
space.

Activities
A major secondary activity that originates in Sweden is
IKEA.
Ikea is a multinational group of companies that designs
and sells ready-to-assemble furniture such as beds and
chairs, appliances, small motor vehicles and home
accessories.
It is the largest furniture retailer in the world.

Every year IKEA delivers 800 million cubic feet of product,
enough to fill more than 9,000 Olympic-size swimming

Climate of Sweden
Sweden surprisingly has a more milder climate than
most of the countries that are in the north.
Sweden's climate is influenced by the Gulf Stream,
which is quite a warm current that flows off Norway's
west coast.
The average July temperature in Sweden is 13 - 17
degrees Celsius.
February is Sweden's coldest month with temperatures
ranging from 22 degrees Celsius - 30 degrees Celsius
and lower.

Sweden and Europe


Sweden joined the EU in 1995 along with Austria and
Finland.
Sweden still uses Krona instead of Euro as a result of
rejecting the Euro in a referendum.
Sweden regularly exports their goods to the UK,
Germany and Norway.
Sweden regularly imports their goods to Germany,
Norway and Holland.

Sights to see in Sweden


The Ice Hotel in Jukkasjrvi is a hotel located in Sweden
that is sculpted out of snow and ice. The Ice Hotel
generally is temporary and has to be rebuilt. The
construction generally takes place in November and the
hotel usually lasts until March. Everything in the hotel is
made out of snow and ice including beds, walls and
even glasses you might drink out of.

Oresmo Bridge
The Oresmo Bridge in Malm, Sweden, is a bridge from
Malm City Centre which links to Copenhagen in
Denmark. The journey roughly takes around half an
hour or more which is quite handy from travelling to
and from Denmark and Sweden.

Stockholm Palace
The Royal Palace in Sweden is the home of the King of Sweden himself,
housing over 600 rooms and is one of the largest palaces in Europe. The Royal
palace contains museums of all sorts such as a Jewish museum, paintings,
treasuries and an armory of Royal armors aswell as carriages.

Sports
Sweden's most popular sports are Football, Swimming,
Ice Hockey, Athletics, Martial Arts and Bandy.
The Swedish Football Association is the governing
body of football in Sweden.
The Swedish home ground is the Friends Arena located
in Stockholm led by Erik Hamrn.

Swedish Football
Sweden made their first World Cup appearance in
1934.
Sweden has made 11 World Cup appearances and five
European Championships.
They finished second in the 1958 FIFA World Cup, and
third in both
1950 and 1994.
Sweden's captain is Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Swedish meatballs is a very popular dish in Sweden
with many variations. Some prefer onions grated into
their meatballs whilst others prefer it diced and fried
with the meatballs. Either way, they're super delicious
and often served with Potato pure or boiled potatoes.

This is a very well known Swedish export, which
nowadays is owned by a French company. The vodka is
still made in hus in Skne and almost every bottle is
made at the Limmareds glass factory in the Vstra
Gtaland region. Absolut vodka comes in many
flavours including vanilla, raspberry, pear and of
course, the straight and pure vodka.

Kanelbullar, or cinnamon buns, are so popular in Sweden
that they even have their own national day dedicated to
them 4th October is Kanelbullens day. Kanelbullar can be
found in other countries, for example in northern Europe and
North America, but they originally come from Sweden. The
main ingredients in the dough of a kanelbulle are flour, milk,
yeast, sugar and butter. The filling is often made from
butter, sugar and cinnamon. The tops are then brushed with
whisked egg and pearl sugar is sprinkled on top.

Music in Sweden
ABBA is by far the most popular Swedish band and
definitely one of the most recognised in the world. Pop
is huge in Sweden and definitely dominates the music
industry. Roxette was also huge back in 1986 - 2002,
who sang famous songs such as "Listen to Your Heart"
and "The Look". Avicii is also widely know throughout
the world aswell.

Eurovision
Sweden has won Eurovision 6 times, with the recent
two victories in 2012 and 2015. Sweden this year won
with Mans Zelmerlow with him singing "Heroes"
winning with a total of 365 points.
In 2012, Loreen won with her singing "Euphoria" and
thus, allowed Sorin to go and take time off school to
enjoy Sweden!

Quirky Facts
Sweden was the first country to ban smacking children.
Back in 1979. Enough said on that one.
The town of Gvle erects an enormous straw goat each
year. And almost every year, unidentified bandits torch it.
This year's 13-metre monstrosity was the 24th to perish
since the first one was put on display back in 1966.
Swedes speak the best English in the world. (In
November and for the second year in a row, Sweden
topped the English Proficiency Index from language
education company Education First (EF)
