MECHANICAL POWER BRANCH

SYNOPSIS

The Power Branch/SC is contributing in achieving excellence in relevant fields.


 Increase in Outage.
 Increase in Utilization.
 Reduction in Partings.
 Reduction in Stallings.
 Reduction in Pre Departure Detention.
 Enhancing crew facilities.
 Implementation of 10 Hrs Rule.
 Saving in Fuel Consumption (Energy Conservation).
 Right sizing of Man Power.
 Safe Transportation of Passenger & Goods.

HIGHLIGHTS

 Cases of Crew detention at outstation for more than 72 Hrs:


 2008-09: NIL
 2009-10: NIL
 2010-11: NIL
 LPs and ALPs are provided with WLL- CUG phones.
 CRIS (Crew Management System) implemented in SNF, BDCR ,BIDR and RDM lobbies.
Under implementation in CT, PRLI and MLY Lobbies.
 Fuel Cell type Breath analyzers provided in all Crew Booking Lobbies.

INNOVATIONS

Loco traul developed by Secunderabad division and working between KTPS-RUSG-KTPS

Salient features

 Loco marshaled at either end of the train formation.


 Remote terminal unit fitted on locos works as transmitter and receiver.
 16 signals required for synchronizing moment of the locos, transmitted
 through radio based wireless communication system.
 Units fitted with automatic fail safe operation to ensure against moving of locos
 in idle condition.
Benefits:
 Detention on account of loco reversal, creation of pressure and continuity test eliminated – Saving of 2
Hrs in each trip.
 MU operation achieved without cable connection, thus giving flexibility in operation.
 Coupler forces minimized to reduce the chances of train parting.
 Parting & Stalling are NIL till date.

o) Assistance Required.

1) There are 177 vacancies in LP cadre, 169 vacancies in ALP cadre and 14 vacancies
in Shunter cadre in diesel depots in mechanical (Power) Branch (total-360). It is requested
that necessary action please be initiated for filling up of vacancies.
2) 02 vacancies of LP (M&E), 03 LP (pass) and 15 LP (Goods) at BIDR depot are
causing concern .In view of working PRLI-PAU section by BIDR crews; these vacancies need
to be filled up on top priority.
