The aspenONE Installer will request the products or product set
that you want to install and request applicable discs as needed.
Alternatively, DVD disc content can be shared from a network
server.
aspenONE Installer The aspenONE Browser provides a mechanism for users to browse
through Aspen Industry solutions as well as Suite solutions prior to
installation. The aspenONE Browser contains two tabs, Industries
and Suites.
From the Industries tab, you can browse for products as they are
included in Industry solutions which are integrated sets of
AspenTech Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain
products that present vertical solutions designed to meet the needs
of selected industry groups or activities.
From the Suites tab, you can browse for products as they are
included in the AspenTech Suites in which products are organized
in the classic manner of the AspenTech product lines and
combinations related to specific tasks.
The aspenONE installer also includes links to Aspen Technology
support centers and web sites for contact information, product
updates and other resources.
Clicking Install starts the process during which you will select the
products to be installed on your computer.

reference documents (in PDF format) and standalone versions of
Help files are included on the Aspen Documentation DVD.
Each product-specific installation guide contains critical
information about system requirements, product dependencies, and
post-installation configuration procedures. The release notes for
each product contain information on new features, software fixes
and known problems and workarounds.

CHAPTER3
BPC Database
The BPC database stores and matches tag names with their
associated tag aliases. This BPC database can be exported into an
XML file and made available for clients. In some cases, you can
improve performance of BPC client applications by using the
XML file option (for more details, see the BPC Installation
Guide).
Setting Up ADSA
As with all AMS products, ADSA is required. ADSA is
automatically configured at installation time to resolve S95 tag
aliases using the BPC Web Service. Alternatively, you can
configure ADSA to use locally-cached XML copies of the BPC
data instead of going to the BPC S95 Web Service (this may
improve performance over a WAN, for example). For more
information about the configuration of the BPC S95 Web Service,
see the ADSA Directory Server Installation Guide.
Overview
This chapter explains how to install the current version of Aspen
Process Explorer. This installation assumes that you do not
currently have Aspen Process Explorer installed on your computer.
Effective with the September 2004 release, all AspenTech products
are offered on an eight-disc DVD set. The AspenTech Installer can
guide you through the installation of a single product as well the
installation of a group of products that are integrated to provide
industry solutions. This manual describes the installation of Aspen
Process Explorer within the AspenTech Manufacturing Suite
family of products.
Notes:
• If you are upgrading Aspen Process Explorer, see the
Upgrading Aspen Process Explorer from v2.5.1, Upgrading
Aspen Process Explorer from v3.1.2, or Upgrading Aspen
Process Explorer from v4.x chapters.
• If you are installing an updated version of Aspen Process
Explorer, follow instructions in the “Upgrading Features and
Subfeatures” chapter.
• If you have a previous version of Aspen Process Explorer
installed and want to add or reinstall features or subfeatures,
see the “Adding and Reinstalling Features and Subfeatures”
chapter. To repair features or subfeatures, see the “Repairing
Features and Subfeatures” chapter.

Products that run as Plantelligence/Enterprise Optimization
solutions use the Aspen Framework Server. If you are a
Plantelligence/Enterprise Optimization licensee, ensure that your
system administrator has properly installed the Aspen Framework
Server. If you do not see the Aspen Framework Configuration
Details dialog box, go to the next section.

with the New Role dialog box.

you want to add a user or group you want to add as a member
of the Process Explorer Super User role.
Import the two XML files, After you have added the roles you can now import the .xml files
PE.xml and Graphic.xml required to configure security for Aspen Process Explorer and the
Graphics Editor.
10 Select the graphic file and click Open. The graphic.xml file is
added to the AFW Security Manager, thereby adding the
Graphic Editor securable object to the security manager.
Assign the Execute
privilege Assign the Execute privilege to those roles having permission
to invoke protected Aspen Process Explorer functions:
1 On the AFW Security Manager, expand the Process
Explorer object to display the Secure Commands folder.
Sample Valid
The sample starts out as being a valid sample. The following
checks can change the assumption.
Level Column
If the level column is defined, and the value of level is less than
zero then the sample is invalid (level < 0 equals invalid). If the
level is greater than or equal to zero then the sample is valid (level
>= 0 equals valid).
Status Column
If the status column is defined, and the value of status is less than
zero then the sample is invalid (status < 0 equals invalid). If the
status is greater than or equal to zero then the sample is valid
(status >= 0 equals valid).
Sample Post Processing Once the validity of the sample is determined by the configured
columns, you must complete a few more steps before the sample is
returned to the caller.
Status Value
If no status column is defined, then the value of status is 0 if the
sample is valid, and –1 if the sample is invalid.
Before Upgrading
Before you upgrade to the current version of Aspen Process
Explorer, it is necessary to complete the following tasks:
