Friction Loss Chart

This document provides charts for calculating friction loss in plastic pipes and plastic pipe fittings. The pipe chart lists friction loss per 100 feet of pipe for various pipe sizes, schedules, flow rates in gallons per minute. It notes friction loss should be kept under 5 feet per 100 feet. The fitting chart lists equivalent feet of straight pipe for common plastic pipe fittings like elbows, tees, couplings and valves based on pipe size. An example calculation is provided.

THIS CHART GIVES FRICTION LOSSES FOR YOUR GIVEN FLOW RATE PER 100 FEET OF PIPE. EXAMPLE: IF YOU HAVE 60 GALLONS PER MINUTE AND YOU'RE USING 2 INCH SCHEDULE 80 PIPE AND YOU HAVE
A 160 FEET OF PIPE, YOUR FRICTION LOSS IS 8.12 x 1.6 = 12.99 FEET.
NOTE: IT IS BEST TO KEEP YOUR FRICTION LOSS (PER 100 FEET OF PIPE) TO LESS THAN 5 FEET.
