Tuesday, Oct. 30, in Multi-Purpose Building KG-2nd from 12-1pm 3rd-5th from 1-2pm

**After School Snacks: Students staying after school for tutoring or sports may pick up an after school snack in the cafeteria from 2:10-2:45pm. **ASVAB Sign-up: 10th-12th grade students may sign-up in the library for the ASVAB Test. Deadline to sign-up is Tues, Oct. 30. The test will be given on Wed, Oct. 31. **Florida Inclusion Networks First Fridays: Families are invited to join the Florida Inclusion Network (FIN) on the first Friday of each month from now until May 3, 2013. The Northwest Region of FIN will be hosting toll free calls from 10-11:00am EST. This time will be spent talking about the inclusion of your child, ideas or concerns you may have, & FIN resources that can support you & your family. Contact your FIN office at 850/863-6580 to reserve your place & receive the conference number. Visit the FIN website at www.FloridasInclusionNetwork.com **PERT Prep & Tutoring: High school students may attend tutoring for the PERT in room 1021 (Millender), 2:15-3:30pm. Tutoring will be available every Monday-Thursday when school is open. Sponsored by Gulf Coast State College. **Tutoring for Elementary Students: Tutoring has started at the after-school programs. If you would like to sign-up your child for tutoring, contact Harolyn Walker. **Math Tutoring for M/S & H/S Students: Tutoring will be offered every Tuesday & Thursday from 2:15-3:00pm. M/S & H/S math teachers will be available in their classrooms.

**Staff: Today, Oct. 26, is the last day to turn in questions for the School Board Workshop to be held Thurs, Nov. 8, in the FCS lunchroom at 3:30pm. **Teachers: Several teachers came to the TLC grand opening & left with FREE school supplies for each of their students. The store will open again Wed, Nov. 8, from 3-5 p.m. It is located at 192 14th Street in Apalachicola (the old AHS). Please take advantage of this opportunity to offer your students FREE school supplies. There were several good ideas submitted on the Teacher Wish List and we are making every effort to procure those items. This effort is powered through collaboration between the Franklin County Education Foundation, Progress Energy, TheTake Stock In Children Mentoring Program, and the Youth Advisory Council.

TEACHER/STAFF Info Continued **Teacher Mini-Grants: Applications are now available on the school district website. The theme for this grant session is Energizing our Curriculum and priority will be given to programs that include math, science, technology, energy and are a collaboration between STEM and non-stem subjects. Dr. Catlin will be available Thurs, Nov. 1, in the library, from 11-2 to answer any questions. The deadline is Mon, Nov. 26. Applications are approved on a rolling basis, so please submit your application as soon as it is completed. Applications should be scanned (with all required signatures) and e-mailed to FC-EF@hotmail.com attention to Dr. Lois Mendez Catlin. ONLY electronic applications will be accepted. Applications received after November 26 will be accepted as long as funding is available.

**Haunted Houses: Take Stock In Children & the Youth Advisory Council in collaboration with the Franklin County
Education Foundation are hosting two Haunted Houses on Oct. 31 (one in Apalach and one in Cbelle @ 1581 West Hwy 98) to raise funds for college scholarships!! Look for flyers and information about how to purchase $5 tickets. Come and have a scarily good time with tons of goodies.

Households will save a lot of energy by turning off appliances when not using them. Did you know a leaky faucet can fill a soda bottle every 30 minutes? That amounts to wasting approximately 8,298 liters per year!! BOX TOPS for EDUCATION: The Franklin County School PTO is collecting Box Tops! Please send all Box Tops to your child's teacher. Middle and High parents can save them too! Please turn your Box Tops in to Mrs. Laura King or Ms. Leigh Smith

GED CLASSES
The Franklin County Adult Education Courses will be offering GED classes at the Franklin County School in the near future. The next GED Test will be given Oct. 29 & 30, 2012 at the Franklin County School library at 6:00pm. To register for the test or for classes, contact Maxine Creamer @ 670-4481. The Franklin County Adult Education Courses do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, National origin, age, handicap, or marital status. **The Federal McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act states that children & youth who lack a fixed, regular, & adequate nighttime residence are considered homeless. If, due to a loss of housing, a child must live in a shelter, motel, vehicle, campground, on the street, in abandoned buildings, or doubled-up with relatives or friends, then he/she is eligible to receive services provided under the McKinney-Vento Act.
