SAP01 is a course that introduces you to the various SAP solutions, applications, components, and terminology. It is a must-do foundation course that provides the participant with the basic SAP knowledge required for all other SAP courses. The participant could be a beginner in SAP or a member of a team involved in organizing and planning an SAP implementation. The participant needs to have a working knowledge of PCs, Microsoft Office, and internet browsers. No specific technical knowledge is required. However, a familiarity or working experience with basic business processes will be helpful. As this is an overview course, the details of the SAP applications and components are left to subsequent courses. The course begins with giving a background of SAP, the company, in terms of founding history, market growth, and product portfolio. The participant is then familiarized with basics such as logging on to an SAP system and navigating within it, common terminology, and concepts. Once this is complete, the course moves on to introduce and familiarize the participant with the different SAP solutions and components. Every section of the course is complemented by simulations that depict to the participant scenarios and case studies of different business situations handled in the SAP system. SAP Solution: mySAP ERP In this course, logically structured lessons introduce mySAP ERP, which is a vital SAP solution. mySAP ERP provides basic support for almost every business process in every field. While other SAP solutions can be added on to provide advanced functionalities, mySAP ERP provides the fundamental framework for a range of business processes including logistics and operations, financials, human capital management, and analytics and planning.
In this course, the learning unit on Financials explains the fundamentals of financial accounting, management accounting, corporate governance, and financial supply chain management. The course goes on to show the participant how mySAP ERP Financials helps in tracking financial accounting data; managing the financial aspects of Supply Chain Management; valuating and recording financial data; and also facilitating compliance with legal requirements for financial reporting and corporate governance. The learning unit on Human Capital Management discusses the tasks related to human resource management, and then goes on to explain how the relevant component in mySAP ERP supports these tasks. The participant is given an overview of how mySAP ERP supports this entire business process; starting with recruitment, through personnel training and development, to appraisals and personnel cost planning. SAP Solution: mySAP Business Suite The SAP01 course gives the participant an overview of mySAP Business Suite, and the context in which this solution can be used. As the name implies, this solution comprises a gamut of components that are required in different business processes. As an illustration, consider a manufacturing scenario. This involves various logistics processes such as procurement of raw material, production, and sale of the manufactured goods. All these processes are supported by the mySAP ERP solution. In this solution, Procurement, Production, and Sales are primary operational activities. However, each of these processes can be enhanced and extended with components from mySAP Business Suite. For example, mySAP ERPs basic process Production can be extended through mySAP Business Suites Supply Chain Management, or SCM, component. The learning unit on Analytics and Strategic Planning describes the functions available in mySAP Business Suite that facilitate reporting and analyzing data, and using these results for strategic planning. The participant is introduced to the relevant features in SAP ECC, SAP NetWeaver BI, and SAP SEM; and also given an overview of the salient features of reporting and analytics, along with various scenarios where these functions find an application. SAP NetWeaver The learning unit on SAP NetWeaver introduces SAPs vital technology platform that underlies every implemented SAP solution, such as mySAP ERP, mySAP PLM, mySAP CRM, and mySAP SRM. The importance of SAP NetWeaver in integrating cross-system business processes as well as information and applications from different sources is emphasized. This unit also gives an overview of the major sub areas of SAP NetWeaver: integration of people, information, and processes; and the application platform.
SAPs Customer Service Network The final learning unit in this course provides an overview of the support system in place for SAP users and customers. Here, the most important services provided by SAP to its customers and partners are described. Thus, this course provides the participant with a birds-eye view of the SAP solution portfolio, the way in which various business processes are supported, and the support and help system in place for SAP customers and partners. This course helps prepare the participants for the in-depth knowledge provided in courses that further explain individual SAP solutions.
