3. You are Sonal,who has arrived at the New Delhi Railway Station to board the Shatabdi
Express to Amritsar. You hear the following announcement. Write a message from Sonal
to be sent to your father through your driver in not more than 50 words.

This is for the attention of all the passengers to board the Shatabdi Express bound for
Amritsar scheduled to arrive at 6.55 a.m. The Shatabdi Express has derailed 20
kilometres from ABCcity. Please note that the Howrah Express that leaves the New Delhi
Railway Station at 8.30 a.m.will carry all the passengers to their destination. You are
requested not to buy a new ticket. Your ticket for the Shadabdi Express holds valid and at
par for the Howrah Express. Special coaches are being attached to the Howrah Express to
accommodate passengers of Shadabdi Express.

4. Rajesh Sharma’s model ‘Clap Switch’was adjudged first in the inter-school Science
Exhibitionand he was to get the first prize in the Annual Prize Distribution Function of
the school. However, the function couldn’t be held in time due to some unforeseen
reasons. Now the function is scheduled to be held soon and Rajesh has written about it to
the Principal. Imagine yourself as Principal of the school and write a short postcard
giving a suitable reply to him. Do not exceed 50 words.

5. You have to address your class about the precautions and measures to be taken against
malaria, which is spreading in your town. Here are a few ideas to help you. Write the
speech in not more than 150 words, using these ideas and also your own as well as those
given in the unit ‘Health and Medicine’.

Prevention is better than cure—cleanliness – in and outside the house – no water logging –
mosquito nets – DDT spray – flitting – full sleeves – full pants – covers.
