The redevelopment will see Melbourne secure the Australian Open Tennis Championship the Grand Slam of Asia/Pacific now, and into the future.

Meeting opened 5:00pm 1. The objectives of this meeting were to: Continue the engagement and communication process with stakeholders Report back on Melbourne Park Redevelopment progress to date Outline the next stages in the Redevelopment, and the ongoing engagement process.

4. Workshop Minutes Project Overview: Stage 1 - Early Works; Eastern Plaza; Western Precinct; Melbourne & Olympic Parks Trust and Tennis Australia Office Relocation John spoke to a Powerpoint presentation, outlining the guiding principles and vision which have informed the project. He provided an overview of the early works undertaken; the Eastern Plaza project; and the Western Precinct project. Eastern Plaza Update: Eastern Plaza Project and Delivery Questions and Clarification on the Eastern Plaza Justin spoke to a Powerpoint presentation, providing an overview of the Eastern Plaza project works undertaken in the past 12 months. John followed with a discussion of the Eastern Plaza project works proposed for the next 12 months. Following the presentations, a question/clarification session was held with participants and presenters. The questions and responses are noted below: y Question: For what period of time will the bus parking not be available? Response: The bus parking will not be available from May to November 2012 due to construction activities. y Question: The Heritage Bridge and the Rod Laver Bridge are both considered to be in poor condition, requiring some upgrade. Who is responsible for these and what are the plans for maintenance? Response: Neither of these pedestrian bridges are within the scope of the Melbourne Park Redevelopment project. Both have multiple agencies responsible for them. The State Government is currently working on developing a coordinated response to the maintenance and management of these bridges. In relation to the Rod Laver Bridge, the hail damage to the bridge is an insurance issue which is being pursued. MOPT is negotiating this and is hopeful repairs will occur in the next few months.

y Question: What are the temporary arrangements for Bus parking during the May to November 2012 construction period? Response: MPV will take this on notice and provide follow-up to relevant stakeholder/s. y Question: What number of buses will be able to be parked when the facility is completed? Response: Spaces for 28 buses will be provided. y Question: Is the car parking for 1000 vehicles additional parking to the precinct or is it replacing existing car parking? Response: The car parking provision is to replace existing car parking in the precinct. There is no net increase in car parking. y Question: Are there proposals to improve the congestion issue around Lithgow Ave and the Swan St Bridge? Response: This is not within the scope of the Melbourne Park Redevelopment project. VicRoads is the responsible authority for this matter. Ralph spoke to a Powerpoint presentation, providing an overview of the response to the Western Precinct project design brief. Joel followed with a discussion of the construction plan for each of the next 1-3 years. The Western Precinct design video featured in the presentation can be found here:

Following the presentation, a question/clarification session was held with participants and presenters. The questions and responses are noted below: y Question: What is the proposal for soundproofing the Margaret Court and Rod Laver Arenas to protect the amenity of local residents? Response: A major part of the design brief was to enable concerts/events to be run concurrently in the Margaret Court and Rod Laver Arenas; whilst meeting EPA noise standards. Specific design treatments have been developed to ensure this compliance, including an acoustic wall between the Margaret Court and Rod Laver Arenas. The roofs of these arenas will only be open during the Australian Open (ie not for concerts). Minutes of Information Session ~ Page 3 of 4

y Question: Will all of the stormwater on the site be captured and stored onsite or will there be some flow into Exhibition St? Response: Most of the water will be captured and stored onsite, however, in some circumstances there will be overflow of stormwater to Exhibition St. Aurecon are currently in discussions with Citylink and Vicroads regarding solutions for overflow. y Question: Will Garden Square be retained? Response: Garden Square is outside the scope of the Melbourne Park Redevelopment project, however, it will be retained for the life of the current project. The overall site masterplan does see this area redeveloped in a later stage. y Comment: Given the proposed increase in capacity and intensity for the precinct, and the fact that it is to showcase Melbourne, it is disappointing that there is not better integration with surrounding uses, and especially that car parking is being retained in Yarra Park. It should be preferred that public transport be incorporated with the cost of event tickets, as performed during the commonwealth games, to deter patrons from driving to the multi-purpose venue. Response: This was noted as a comment outside the scope of this redevelopment project. The proximity of Melbourne Park to public transport and car parking facilities in the Melbourne CBD was noted. Also highlighted was the pedestrian bridge across Batman Avenue proposed in a later stage of the redevelopment to more closely link the precinct with the CBD. Following the meeting Minutes are to be prepared by Ken Northwood and circulated by Major Projects Victoria to all meeting participants and apologies. There was unanimous support expressed by participants to hold a further information meeting of stakeholders in 12 months, to report back on progress. Participants expressed satisfaction with the annual stakeholder meetings as an effective means of communicating project progress. Major Projects Victoria and MOPT are committed to this follow-up in 12 months time. In the meantime, meetings will be held with individual stakeholders to discuss specific issues as they arise.
