2. Fundamentals. Task organization is the process of allocating available assets to subordinate commanders and establishing their command and support relationships. 3. Command and Support Relationships.

a. Command relationships establish the degree of control and responsibility a commander has for forces operating under his control. Command relationships can be attached, operational control (OPCON), or tactical control (TACON). FM 101-5-1 defines each command relationship. b. Support relationships establish specific relationships and responsibilities between supporting and supported units. Support relationships are generally established routinely as general support (GS), general support-reinforcing (GSR), reinforcing (R), and direct support (DS). FM 101-5-1 defines each of these support relationships. 3. XVIII AIRBORNE CORPS. This Corps is authorized 86,959 soldiers located at Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Fort Drum, New York; Fort Stewart and Fort Benning, Georgia; Fort Campbell, Kentucky, Fort Polk, Louisiana, and Fort Bliss, Texas. The Corps consists of the following Divisions and separate Brigades:

The 3rd Infantry Division (Mechanized) is headquartered at Fort Stewart, Georgia, with two brigades stationed at Fort Stewart and one stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia. c. The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) is stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky d. The 82d Airborne Division is stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. e. The XVIII Aviation Brigade is stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. f. The XVIII Airborne Corps Artillery is stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. g. The 2d Armored Cavalry Regiment is stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana. h. The 108th Air Defense Artillery Brigade is located at Fort Bliss, Texas. i. The 20th Engineer Brigade is stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. j. The 525 Military Intelligence Brigade is stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. k. The 16th Military Police Brigade is stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. l. The 35th Signal Brigade is stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. m. The 1st Corps Support Command (COSCOM) is stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. n. The 18th Finance Group is stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
