Transitioning at School

Hi, my name is Keyshawn. Everyday at school I have to walk in a straight line in the hallway.

When I first line up to go to another classroom, I use quiet walking feet and keep my voice at level zero. I am the line leader so my spot is always at the front.

When my teacher gives me the silent signal, I walk to the first stopping point in the hallway. This is usually the end of the hallway or the entrance to the stairs. If Im not sure about the stopping point, my teacher tells me.

When I stop, I always remember to stay at level zero, face forward, and keep my hands to my side or in my pockets. Sometimes I want to talk to the person behind me or get out of line to dance or wiggle, but I try my best.

When my teacher gives me the silent signal, I walk at level zero to the next stopping point. I feel important being the first person in the line. I know I have to find a square so that all the other students know which row of squares to stand in.

When I have reached the outside of the next classroom, the lunchroom, or the bathrooms I wait at level zero for my teacher to tell me to enter.

I always enter the classroom at level zero and go directly to my seat. It is important for me to wait at level zero so that I can hear the directions for the next activity.

I am an awesome line leader!
