Dear Parents and Friends of the School During the holidays a number of our senior students, accompanied by Kate Anderson, attended the New Zealand Area Schools Leadership Course at Wainui (adjacent Akaroa) for a week of high quality activities and interaction with peers from throughout the country.
The course is based on team and individual challenge, physical, social and cultural. Kelly Tweed, Brittany Smith and Liam Smith represented our school. One of their tasks was to speak about themselves and their home town/district, using a power point slide show to support their discussion. This is an excellent way to quickly learn about others, find the things you may have in common and those things that are unique.

As a leader Kates role was to motivate, encourage and support students and help them meet all the many challenges that they faced. We are very fortunate to have an enthusiastic and skilled volunteer accompany our students, as well as contribute to the success of this very special week. We thank Kate for giving up her time and congratulate our students for their excellent attitude and enthusiasm. Households will have recently received information about the upcoming BOARD OF TRUSTEE Elections. Please give this thought, support and nominate a person who you think could contribute very positively to our school. Kind Regards
John Auld

Consultation Evening No 1: Health

Consultation Evening No 2: Te Ao Maori

We would like to invite all interested parents and community members to attend a HUI at which we will share and seek feedback on our Te Ao Maori programmes. This proved to be a very well attended and constructive meeting last year and we encourage attendance. Information on achievement of Maori students will also be shared. Tuesday 11th June 7.00pm School Library. We will send home more information and reminders closer to these evenings.

An activity that happened was the cutting down of the black poplars along the Simpson Park entrance. Sadly these tress have grown through the power lines and had to come down.

If you were perplexed about what a multitude of machines and people were doing on Harrington Street here is the explanation. KB Contractors were busy bringing High Speed Fibre to our school. We look forward to benefiting from this in the near future, with faster broad-band and less waiting.

Another holiday activity is reconcreting near the Technology Rooms. With old drains etc this has become a complex task, not helped by the raining weather. Dave Barkman and Steve Martin are busy with this task
