This year we will be setting our schools strategic direction for the next four years. Our primary goal is to provide an excellent education for every student. To do this we will evaluate our progress to date and plan a strategy that is critical to our schools continued success improving learning, engagement and wellbeing and successful transitions and pathways for our children and young people.

The Focus
The planning of the strategic direction for the school will be guided by the following questions: What outcomes did we aim to achieve? What outcomes did we achieve? Why did we achieve / not achieve improvements in student outcomes? How effectively did we manage our resources to support the achievement of student outcomes? What can we do in the future to continue to improve?
People Involved
School leaders, staff, students and parents will work together over the course of 2013 to set the strategic directions for the school.
The Process
School self-evaluation provides an opportunity for our school community to reflect on our achievements, our strengths, and areas where improvement is needed. After we have completed our self-evaluation, an external reviewer will work with us to offer independent and expert advice on our progress. With their experience and knowledge of Australian and international best practice they will be able to help identify the most effective strategies for us to continue to improve into the future. The self-evaluation and the review provide a powerful information base from which we can develop our new strategic directions for the four year school strategic plan. We will: - review the schools core purpose and values - take a futures perspective of the needs of children and young people and the context of our school - agree on the outcomes we are striving to achieve for our students -choose the few most important strategies that are critical to our success. Schools are partnerships, in effect, between teachers, legislators, parents, students and community membersa shared vision effort in school should begin by calling people to come together to think and act, with the power they already have, about the things that are important to them (Senge, Schools that Learn, 2000).

Harry is always questioning the world around him and completes all set tasks. 3/4T Miss Withers Isak Young for his improvement in his maths test. accurately because you had edited it correctly. We all can't wait to have you present the information to our class. Keep it up Caylem Gaskin!
Art/Craft (Ms Lee) Grant Wilson 3/4T for his inventive creative hat design. Art/Craft (Mrs Campbell) - Luke Santamaria 1/2B - you come in to the art room every week with such a great attitiute. Your work is so good, you follow instruction. you work well with others, and your painting this week was beautiful! BERNIE WALSH ART AWARD - 1/2P - for always working so well in the art room; listening to instructions, helping one another, tidying up perfectly. Your chicken paintings this week were fantastic! Tomorrow students will bring home their mid-year reports. These outlined achievements from the first semester and future directions for the remainder of the school year. As a follow up to our reports, our parent/teacher discussions will be held next Tuesday from 2:00-6:00pm. Parents will note there are no comments for Art in the areas 3-6. If parents require further comment they will need to make an appointment to see Mr Whitworth.
Next Friday, June 28th, will be our final day before we commence our second term break. School will finish at 2:30pm, with our final assembly commencing at 1.45pm in the community building. Student lunch break on that day will be from 1.00-1.40pm.
Reminder to parents of children eligible to commence Foundation (Preps) in 2014 Leaping into Learning will continue in Terms 3 & 4 for children who are enrolled in our 2014 Foundation (Preps) Program. These sessions will be held weekly, commencing Thurs. 18th July at 2-3.15pm. Please enrol your child at the school office if he/she is beginning school at Tootgarook next year.
Exciting Term 3 Incursions at T.P.S. On the 24th July PrimeSCI! From Monash University, will be presenting a Science Show to the Prep/1/2s. The show will be around the theme of Light & Colour and will be a one hour presentation to groups of 30 children at a time. The cost will be $6:00, a note will go home next week. On the 28th August the whole school will experience a musical show called Space Jump set around the books which have been short-listed, by the Childrens Book Council, for the Book of the Year awards. The cost of this will also be $6:00. Information will come home soon about these special activities. Lynne Baird Well done to the Grade 2s for their excellent recorder playing at assembly on Monday. They played 'Just Dreaming' & 'Bop Till You Drop.' They all agreed that the excitement of playing at assembly was well worth the nerves beforehand. Year 1/2 teachers

The Woolworths Earn & Learn program ended on Sunday 9th June. We are still accepting stickers and sticker sheets so please forward them to school so we can tally up our sheets and start shopping - Thank you for your support!
MARKET OPERATION-ROLE
Expressions of interest are called for the 'Market Operation Role', 4am-10am. The successful candidate will work closely with the Tootgarook School Council Market Committee. The role has a reimbursement component and the selection process conducted by Tootgarook Primary School Council. The job description is listed below and expressions of interest must be received by Friday 14th June, 4.30pm. (Andrew Thomson has offered to work with the successful applicant over the next couple of markets)

Various street signs placed and retrieved 4. Set up Hall with trestle tables-Friday after school, including BBQ 5. Mark out oval 6. Sort Market markers 7. Gas bottles 8. Turn on urn 9. Arrange for dog signs to be placed near entry points of school grounds on gate near bike shed, on main gate near large gum tree, on gate near rubbish hopper, along fence in Wilkinson Street, on Quinns Park sign down Burdett Street end of oval. Place the sign about dogs on one side and emergency vehicle access on the other on the oval gate near public toilets. Move rubbish bins on to site 4 placed around oval, 3 on asphalt/Carmichael Street end of school. Take float to the canteen only when canteen manager arrives Get Walkie-talkies for use in getting cars onto site.
