NAPLAN RESULTS
All students in Years 3 and 5 who participated in this years national testing program (NAPLAN) have received their individual results. Each envelope contained an explanatory guide for parents to help interpret the results. If you have any further queries or concerns, our Year 3 and 5 classroom teachers would be more than happy to elaborate on any of the results; in some instances you may wish to make an interview time with your childs teacher if you feel further clarification of the results is required. During 2010-13 our school has had a very strong focus on further developing many areas of our Literacy program. I was delighted to see that our overall achievement in Reading and Writing in Year 5 was one of our highest performing areas for the school. We were also really pleased to see that our intervention and extension strategies this year were having a strong impact on student learning, with less students performing under expected levels, and more students achieving at significantly higher levels than expected in most areas. In summary, our school achieved above state mean results in Year 5 Reading and Writing. I commend the work of our fantastic staff who continue to work so hard to personalise the learning for each of our students in order for them to be highly engaged and successful learners. There is much to consider in these results but most areas demonstrate a positive improvement trend. I hope you find your childs NAPLAN results to be an informative snapshot of your childs achievements.

Student Safety
Please take the time to regularly remind your child/ren about safety, especially when going to and from school. Here are the important points to mention: - Do not to talk to strangers and never accept a ride from a stranger, or accept lollies or gifts from a stranger. - Immediately report any issue or problem you may have when going to or from school, to your mum and dad, or to your teacher, the Principal, Assistant Principal or office staff. - Always get permission from mum or dad before going to play with a friend after school and always let mum and dad know where you will be and what time you will be home. We advise that, wherever possible, children should travel to or from school with an adult or with their friends, rather than travel alone.

Head Lice The Schools Head Lice program commenced on Tuesday of this week; we are planning to run the check each Tuesday starting at 9.00am until the whole school has been checked. A team of parents will be checking students hair who have a signed permission form. Parents have been trained,
approved by School Council and will abide by confidentiality contracts signed off. To be a successful program we are aiming for all children to have the form completed. Forms are available at the office. To the following people who have offered help at our market on Saturday 26th October; Gary Barrett, Sara Jacobson, Earle & Tracy Weston, Yvonne De Mille & Alex Boutin. 5/6B are rostered on however if anyone from the school community can give an hour or so that would be much appreciated thanks!

If your child has borrowed clothing from First Aid, including underwear, please wash and return as soon as possible. Thank you
