The document discusses VAG-COM compatible cables and software that can be used for diagnostic and tuning of Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda and SEAT vehicles.

VAG-COM software is used for diagnostic and tuning of Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda and SEAT vehicles. It connects to the vehicle's onboard computer through an OBD-II port and cable to retrieve fault codes, live data and allows reprogramming of control modules.

The steps outlined are to download and extract the driver files, determine the correct COM port, install the driver by running the install.exe file and going through the installation wizard, and testing the connection in the VAG-COM software.

Troubleshooting *Solutions to the most common problems.

uFirst, make sure all directions above for installing driver files and configuring the COM Port where performed. uMake sure your using software Version 311.2 or 409.1 from http://www.ross-tech.com/vagcom/download/archives.html. Install For the Twin-USB Interface uMake sure your using the item on a VW, Audi, Skoda or Seat vehicle. uService Pack 1 for Windows 2000 adversely affects VAG-COM's ability to do real-time and makes communications with some controllers unreliable. If using Windows 2000 with Service Pack 1, you should apply Service Pack 2 or Service Pack 3. uIf when you try to connect to a control module, it won't connect or you get the error message Can't Synch Baud Rate, go to the Options Screen and try setting the Start Baud to 9600. If 9600 doesn't work, also try 4800 and 1200. Turn the car's ignition OFF and back ON after each failed attempt to connect! Also verify that the controller exists on the vehicle. uIf you have installed the Vag-Com Software more than once or installed a different version without uninstalling the previous, it could conflict. The best way to eliminate this is to uninstall all Vag-Com Software, preferably with an uninstall program such as Norton. Then re-install the software. uAs a last resort, this solution has been known to get it working; remove and uninstall all unnecessary devices and hardware from the PC. Eg-modems, printers or other USB devices. Uninstall all Vag-Com software as well. Re-install the Vag-Com software and cable drivers. This will determine if there is a device that is conflicting with the Vag-Com software. uRoss-tech has further info and troubleshooting: Common Diagnostic Procedures: http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/index.html Other known issues: http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/issues.html
