EFFECTIVE SOLUTIONS FOR FLUID LOSS CONTROL AND DOWNHOLE LUBRICATOR SYSTEMS
The LV4 valve is normally installed in tandem with the tubing-retrievable safety valve (TRSV) to provide a fully testable well barrier for intervention purposes. Positioned above the TRSV, the LV4 valve provides a barrier for lubrication purposes and protects the TRSV closure mechanism from damage if a toolstring is dropped. The dual control line, balanced-actuation piston used to function the LV4 valve provides unlimited setting depth making it suitable for use anywhere within the completion. The ID through the LV4 valve maintains full access to the ID of the TRSV ensuring full functionailty of both tools during the life of the well.

Halliburton fluid loss and lubricator valves provide reliable formation isolation and improved completion efficiency in a wide range of applications
Completion Challange To provide a reliable fluid loss control valve for use in completions where fluid loss is undesirable or needs to be controlled. Solution As the industry moves into more hostile environments, the challenges facing completion engineers become more complex. The need to balance operational and environmental concerns means that it is not always feasible or practical to prevent formation damage through the use of chemical-based completion fluid systems alone. Coupled with increased water depths, hydrostatic pressures often exceed that of the formation making it difficult to complete a well. Installation of a fluid loss control valve satisfies all the above requirements. The FS (remote open) and IB (mechanical open) fluid loss control devices use high-performance ball mechanisms that provide a positive bi-directional seal in brine and oil-based mud environments. Valve selection is based on completion design and is application specific.
Closure of the FS and IB valves is achieved using a simple collet shifting tool attached to the end of the workstring normally extended through the bore of the valve. Upon retrieval, the collet shifting tool engages the mating nubbin shifting profile within the valve, immediately isolating the formation and allowing inflow or positive pressure testing above the closed ball. Following deployment of the upper completion, the FS and IB valves are opened using different methods. Opening the FS Valve Using the patented Liquid Spring indexing mechanism, the FS valve is opened remotely by the application of a predetermined number of pressure cycles, applied through the tubing string. Unlike other remote triggering devices, the liquid spring mechansim requires no well specific set up and enhances long-term suspension capability. The valve opens when the applied pressure is removed, therefore avoiding surging the formation. Opening is facilitated by the valves power spring and
boost piston, which provide the necessary force to open the valve in applications where extreme debris conditions may exist. Opening the IB Valve The IB valve is opened mechnically using a collet shifting tool attached to the end of the upper completion. Immediately prior to landing the upper completion the IB valve is mechanically opened by the collet shifting tool providing access to the reservoir.

Effective Solutions for Fluid Loss Control and Downhole Lubricator Systems
Integrity. Reliability. Control. For the Life of Your Well.
When the success of your completion project relies on complete flow control, you can depend on Halliburton for proven fluid isolation solutions. Continuous design innovation and improvement has resulted in reliable fluid loss control and lubricator valves designed to simplify completion programs and provide a testable downhole barrier. The FS and IB fluid loss control valves provide a simple and effective method of isolating the reservoir from wellbore fluids. Both valves allow unlimited mechanical operation while the FS incorporates interventionless technology to facilitate remote opening. When deploying long perforating/logging strings or straddle assemblies, the LV lubricator valve provides a downhole barrier that extends lubricator length.
