The New design "SHOCK-ABSORBING" Globottle greatly reduces the incidence of damage to lamp cathodes by preventing "instant" (premature) starting action, (which reduces life perforrnance of both
lamp and starter).

The COP 4O/4OO's ,A,UTOMATIC CUT-OUT feature proves its value under failed lamp conditions. This
manual re-set starter incorporates a thermally-operated circuit breaker on the reverse side of the upright supporting plate. When lamps begin to flash late in life, heat is generated in the resistor, which releases a spring that breaks the circuit. When a new lamp is put in, the circuit breaker can be reset with a push-button that extends through the top of the starter can. This device protects against ballast burnout; eliminates annoying flashing of lamps, and postpones the need for immediate lamp replacement when a lamp goes out.

GIVES ADDED DEGREE OF PROTECTION AGAINST HA.RMFUL EFFECTS OF PREMATURE STARTING
Most 40 watt Pre-Heat ballasts have a voltage-peaking characteristic that tends to "instant start" the lamp. This is particularly true when so-called "premium" type lamps are being used. When uncontrolled, this violent voltage surge exerts a most punishing erosive effect on the lamp's cathode, resulting in reduced life performance.
Correction or improvement of this undesirable situation rests entirely on the ability of the Starter to act as a buffer in resisting this abortive effort to start the lamp prematurely by allowing a few extra seconds for the fi lament to warm up before the lamp lights.
THE NEW
The new COP 4O/4OO Starter, with its new ".t''o"t- O absorbing" Globottle, greatly reduces the incidence of premature starting, thus saving wear and tear on the cathode, adding many hours of reliable life performance to fluorescent lamps operating on Pre-Heat circuits.
