The Unit is designed for easy and rapid deployment. All components are designed for quick and easy interconnection. The unit will auto record data from whatever configuration the unit has been programmed to and will start as soon as power is connected. The optional breakout box is provided for applications where the server is to be buried, such as Volcano monitoring Installations. Frequency response Standard Configurable response 0.033Hz (30 sec) to 50Hz 1 Hz (1 sec) to 50Hz The instrument can be operated either as a broadband 0.033Hz (30sec) to 50Hz or 1Hz (1sec) to 50Hz velocity sensor. The sensor sensitivity does not change even though frequency response is altered remotely. 1 sec to 50Hz response is also used to achieve a rapid settling time of the broadband response by enabling for a very short time period e.g. @ 2 seconds. Alternate responses available: 0.016 (60secs) to 50 Hz 0.100 (10secs) to 50 Hz Optionally the high frequency end can be extended to 100 Hz.

Sensor Calibration Detailed calibration and system responses are provided for all sensor frequency responses. For example, the standard 0.03 Hz to 50 Hz unit is provided with responses for both the 30s and the 1Hz to 50 Hz responses. Power Operates from 11 volts to 36 volts DC. Power management is provided to switch power off at 10 volts and start at 11.5 volts. Continuous power consumption less than 0.9 Watts. GPS: 0.2 Watts. Continuous, duty cycle option available. GPS power cycle algorithm uses an internal temperature detector to determine on or off for the GPS power decision.

Sensor Linearity The internal sensor feedback loop with a very high level of loop gain ensures linearity better than 95dB for 50% output signal. Seismograms are available to show the ability of the sensor to detect teleseismic events as well as regional and local events without distortion. Sensor Cross Axis Response Less than 1 part in 1000 (60dB). The aspect ratio of the sensor boom design provides excellent cross axis. The sensors are orthogonal to each other better than 0.1 degrees. Weight The Complete CMG-6TD (Sensor & Digitiser) Less than 2.7kg with the adjustable levelling feet option (these add 0.3kg to unit). Environmental Sensor case is manufactured from Aluminium with hard anodised casing. The casing has been specifically designed for lightweight and ruggedness for the harshest of environments. Cabling Breakout Box with 2m cable for connection to sensor GPS Active antenna option 0.06kg/metre, 15m cable standard Optional high speed data download connection 0.1kg/metre 6 core, 4m cable standard Power 0.06kg/metre, 3m standard RS-232 data output cable, 3m standard Connectors 2 connectors. Data output is Mil Spec connector. DFD port is IEEE 1394 compatible cased in environmentally sealed aluminum connector. Each connector is keyed so that it cannot be mistakenly connected in the incorrect position. GPS Active GPS, with 15 meter cabling and 0.5m plastic rod is provided within the packing case for easy field installation. Weight : Size : - 0.45 Kg - 100mm by 60mm (excluding rod attachment)
The GPS unit is upgradeable as lower power units become available. Main advantage for using active GPS unit is due UHF connector problems in environmental sealing. Additionally Stream Sync option will be available potentially allowing large number of units to be timed from one central source.

Internal Data Storage Option of 64 Mb to 2 Gbyte FLASH memory per card. (UP to 4 FLASH cards can be fitted giving 8Gb current capacity). Larger capacities will be available as technology allows. Storage option exploits technical advances. Data Ouptut RS-232 Output, data transmitted in GCF format. Acquisition Software SCREAM is available for WINDOWS and LUNIX environments, UNIX software available by download from www.guralp.com. The RS-232 data output can be connected to: PDA, TCP/IP Interface (low power option). Data Download Less than 5 minutes for 2Gbyte. External disk based DFD device is connected to unit via integral IEEE 1394 (firewire) port. Verifiable copy of units internal data is copied to disk unit in GCF format. DFD unit can download from multiple units. Data DFD disk can then be processed to convert data into required format. DFD disk is available IEEE 1394 and USB connectivity if required. Data verification, and error detection options are provided. The connector used for the data download socket has over 1000 times connectivity under field conditions without mechanical deterioration. The connector is completely waterproof and specifically designed for field use. The field use of the data collection hardware is fully compatible with requirements. Waterproof, robust and reliable. Multiset Parameter configuration A specially designed 5 station transportation case is available . USB hub with bus/serial converter interface is provided in each transportation package for: Download of set up Huddle test without having to re-connect the system. Convenient as error free. Setting up and ease of use 5 units per transportation case (if station transportation option is specified). GPS cabling and GPS mounting rod is provided within each transportation case. Bubble level is provided. 3 degrees maximum tilt. 3 degrees functionality is sustained. There is no observable variation in the performance of the sensor even if operated at 3 degrees of tilt. Palm top System output and configuration monitoring functionality provided via optional Palm OS devices equipped with serial port. This allows the user to check configurations and the installation / operation of the instrument with a cheap and simple device.
Expandability The CMG-6TD utilises Guralps modular approach. Each section of the system is a separate module in its own right. This enables the units to have an excellent upgrade path potential. Future modules include internal PPP and web hosting facilities, FIREWIRE support, USB support etc, as new appropriate technology is available the units are easily expandable to take full advantage. Telemetry The fundamental philosophy behind the equipment is to give the user complete choice over the telemetry option that they use. By utilising industry standard interfaces, the options available are completely flexible. The units have the capability for full duplex data transmission giving compatibility with all forms of digital telemetry. This allows users to connect equipment to a central station with any combination of spread spectrum radio, VSAT, dial up networking, direct modem connection, LAN/WAN or even via the Internet.
