Explain the various types of IRC loadings in the design of highway bridges. A reinforced concrete box culvert is required for a national highway crossing. The clear vent way of the box culvert is 4 m by 4 m. Design the box culvert assuming a super imposed dead load of 12 KN/m2 and a live load of 50 KN/m2. The density of the soil is 16 KN/m3. Use M 25 grade of concrete and Fe 415 steel. Design a reinforced concrete slab bridge using the following data: clear width of road way = 8 m; clear span = 10 m. Use M 25 grade of concrete and Fe 415

steel.

Design the interior slab panel of a reinforced concrete T- beam bridge using the following data clear width of road way = 8 m effective span = 18 m, live load = IRC class AA. Use M 20 grade of concrete and Fe 415 steel. A deck type welded plate girder railway bridge is to be constructed for a broad gauge single track on the main line. Effective span = 20 m, C/C distance between plate girders = 2 m dead load on each girder = 220 L + 600 N/m, dead load of track with sleepers = 6800 N/m. Design the superstructure of the bridge with welded plate girders. A composite bridge deck with reinforced concrete slab and steel plate girder in the form of 5 trolled steel joists placed symmetrically to cover a span of 16 m. Clear width of road way is 6 m. Design reinforced concrete deck slab for an equivalent live load of 1200 Kg/m2 and impact factor is 0.5. Design intermediate girder. Use M 20 concrete and Fe 415 steel.
