B) Setting screws for roller pressure. Adjust upper roller pressure at setting screw for normal paper pos. B lightly. As for softer rubber, the dead weight will be sufficient. Higher pressure may be required for stronger materials ( 90 - 110 g ) . Pressure must be steady on the complete feeding width. If pressure is too low, plans will pulled back during reversing whiich will result in inaccuracies when folding. Important: Before starting adjustment, please check whether the rollers surface is clean and has a good grip. ( Use roll cleaner, if required ) Note: to B) Setting screws New machines will be fitted with different pressure rollers from now on. Due to softer rubberization, no additional pressure adjustment will be required. Higher pressure may be chosen for stronger folding materials.

B) Setting screw for roller pressure. Set upper roller pressure at setscrew pos. B sufficiently ( Ca. 2-3 kg ). Make testfoldings with a wide plan with a length of about 2,5 m . If pressure is too high, plaiting patterns ( crawlings ) will occur, according to the distance of the roller profiles. If pressure is too low, inaccuracies will occur in the first fold or the plan will be ejcted unfolded.

Guide rake
Function of paper guiding grid
The guiding grid will be activated when the folding package is in the rear / front folding bag and the plans end is still about 50mm in front of the folding point. Motor M3 controls the guiding grid into the folding area via a rotation of 180 anddirects the folded plan into the front output section after reversing of the rollers. The required rest length of about 50mm is adjustable and will be required for the time of drawing in. The grid will be driven into the stopping position by sensor B1 after the next folding process. The end adjustments will be controlled by sensor B4 and B5. A safety cutout at the motor console protects the drive and the output stage against possible overload.

Set-up / Adjustment / Maintenance
1. Plans must run in into the length folder straightly, in order to be folded without any lateral steps. 2. Plans will be output out of the length folder straightly and will fall onto the lower supporter exactly. The supporter must be fitted rectangularly to the feed of the cross folder. The holding-down plate must be opened wide enough on top of the lifting magnet. 3. The cross folder must lock in inside the left hand side case exactly. 4. Clean / regeneratethe cross folder rollers and transport belt 5. The plan must run in into the cross folder straightly, pressure rollers at the holding-down plate might be put slightly downwards/upwards, to influence passage 6. Adjust the pressure of the feed roller of the cross folder (A) equally tight (not too loose), to avoid push-back of the plan during reversing 7. Set-up the pressure at the fold rollers / set value: In transport direction left (B) half of the screw's length at the pull ring below / above. Check pressure, change rocker via set-up screw, if need be. In transport direction right (C), from end of screw's length to bar 16mm above and below. However: adjust via set-up screw rocker gap (above 0,4 mm below 0.6 mm) between fold roller 81mm /45 mm, check gap, change, if required. 8. Tab applicator
Appliance of tab / differences in length of cross folds
Basicly, there is no difference made between gluing and not-gluing when cross folding. The corresponding parameters ( page 10 ) may be seen from our description. Gluing at A3: The break inside the feed table of the cross folder (A) may be adjusted (increase pressure), in order to influence the holding point of the sheet. The pressure of those two lifting magnets ( C ) at the tab applicator must be sufficient, in order to ensure exact gluing of the individual A3 sheets. Gluing at all formats: The pressure of the feed roller of the cross folder (B) may be adjusted (increased), in order to ensure exact transport. The holding-down plate towards the cross folder will be pulled back via some spring at the right hand side case. By hanging-in that spring in another punching image (right hand side case), the pressure of the plate may be reduced. Due to that measurement, pulling through by the feed rollers of the cross folder will be avoided.

Set-up of the stopping point during drawing in of the plan (EL EL and EL F)
During the normal folding process, the motors M1 and M2 will be stopped for a short timem when the plan is drawn in, before they will re-start. During this stopping process both motors will operate undependantly from each other. Before the plan will reach the folding point (i.e. reaches the folding roll) the drawing-in motor M1 will be driven to a stand-still over a ramp. Shortly after this, the folding motor M2 will be subjected to the same process. By this different working method of the motors, the front edge of the plans will be directed in a given direction (the still running folding motor will brush the front edge of the paper into the required direction) before it will be catched by the folding rolls for the first time. Therefore, it is important to determine the exact stopping point of the drawing-in motor. The position for the first edge of plan will be fixed by value ELEL. The intention is to direct the plan without it being catched by the folding rolls. This momentum should not be selected at a too late stage as crooked-cut plans (longer at the right hand side at the front) might be catched by the stopping folding motor before the re-start of both motors and mis-folds might result.
M1
M2
The second parametre EL F should be selected this way, that folding motor M2 will stop appr. 20-30 mm later than the feed motor.

The plan will be laid under the measured length. The feed motor will start as soon as B1 is covered. When B0 is reached folding motor M2 will also start. Through a ramp function the feed motor will drop its speed for a certain way after B0 up to its standstill ( guide rake ). After another way the folding motor will drop its speed as well up to its standstill. 1: Meeting point folding roll 2: Stop of feed motor 3: Stop of folding motor M2 4. With this shifted setback of both motors it is achieved that the plan will meet the folding roll with a slower speed (feed motor is suited inside the ramp) whereas the folding roll rotates even faster. The front edge of the plan will be brushed away by the folding roll and will then be directed. After both motors standing still for a moment, they will re-start synchroneously. The plan will be catched by the folding rolls and drawn into the front folding pouch. In order to exclude inaccuracies of the first sheet due to slippage of the plans front edge during re-start, the feed motor will be stopped shortly after having catched the hooked up again. The plans front edge will now reach sensor B6. From here, the first sheet may be driven to the full length before reversing of the motor. During reversing, both motors will be breaked to a standstill over a ramp. In continuation, both motors will accelerate over the same ramp. The feed motor will keep its direction while the folding motor will change its direction. As soon as one of the sensors B3 - B1 will be free, the remaining length still to be folded can be determined and the plan can be folded to the correct package.

Degeneration of loop: With sensor B11, a loop supervision will be started in case of overlength. At the same time, rail M5 will be opened. If the sensor will be covered, the folder will adjust itself to the speed of the outputing device (G2). However, the sensor will get free (loop), the speed (G3) will be increased until sensor B11 will be covered again. As soon as the plan's end has been reached, the rail will be shut after sensor B8 has been seed and upon freeing of B3, the machine will be switched to maximum speed in order to increase the distance on the table.
Options for the machine Sensor B7 and B8 are being used for controlling of overlengths Sensor B10 starts the DC motors M4 and M1 Sensor B11 supervises a loop at overlength Sensor B9 will start the machine during manual folding operation. In this case, the lifting magnet Y10 will be deactivated so that no plan can be feed additionally in on-line mode. Sensor S3 and S4 indicate the position of the DC motor M5 for the rail.

As soon as one of the sensors B12 or B14 will get free, the motors will be driven over a ramp to a lower speed after a correction value. Motor B14 will be reversed and motor M13 will keep its rotating direction. However, it will be run at maximum speed after first reversing as well.
Appliance of tabs If a tab is to be applied, the package will be applied after one of the correction values B12H0, B12H1 or HSA4 ( depending on length of package ). In this case, motors M14, M13 und M11 will be stopped for a short while ( e.g. 60ms ). At the same time, the lifting magnets Y20 and Y21 will be activated. The motors will start running again and the tab will be applied during passage. As soon as the sensor B18 will get free, the tab will be pushed forward automatically ( M21 ) and cut afterwards ( M20 ). The sensor B18 will be covered. If sensor B18 will not be activated within this time, this has to be considered a tab jam or end of tab. In that case, the tab must be inserted a new and activated for once with key B19. Afterwards, normal function will be given again. In order to be able apply tabs to short plans ( 297mm up to 330mm ), the stepping frequency of the feed motor will be required for this special feature. in this case, the plan will be transported by the feed rollers only during tab appliance. For this purpose, an additional sensor B16 is available. From B16 an adjustable value will be counted ( distance B16 -folding roller B16FP ) and in case that B12 will get free, the pulses of the feed motor will be adopted at first. After completion of the value B16FP, pulses of the feed motor will be adopted at first. After completion of the value B16FP, pulses of the folding motor will be adopted or plans will be output after tab appliance respectively.

Mechanical set-up Pressure rocker When plans are being fed to the rocker, it must be ensured that the transport belts will not be standing inside the paper channel. The pressure rocker may be changed in its position by loosening the holding angles. The pressure applied to the paper to be transported may be changed via the motor fixed to the pushing rod. Rail I / II The rail plate must, in normal position, be assembled parallely to the transport bands. As for inexact position, correction may be done via the switching disc at the motor inside the left hand side case or via the pushing rod, alternatively. Stacker The tension of the transport bands may be modified by dislocating the front transport axis.
