Company Profile
The philosophy of the company, founded in 1993, is to provide efficient and flexible tools
for pipe welding. The solutions offered by WELD-TECH are based on feasibility and on a
commitment always to work in close relation with the customers.
This has so far resulted in a product portfolio of 5 major product groups.
WELD-TECHs first line of products was pipe clamps. Today the clamps are ranging from
the smallest handheld pipe clamp to hydraulic clamping tools suitable for pipes up to 60
diameter or more. The introduction of Internal Hydraulic Pipe clamps in 1999 was a mile-
stone for WELD-TECH.
The second line of products became the Purge Gas Equipment. WELD-TECH has now 5
series of PGE, and a complete range of water soluble paper, film and tape. This has made
the company one of the leading manufacturers of PGE. The WELD-TECH PGE series rang-
es from 1 to 60 pipe diameter. The essential benefit using all WELD-TECH PGE is low
gas consumption, reduction of labour costs, whilst ensuring top welding quality.
The measuring tools represent the third product group in WELD-TECH. The monitoring of
oxygen and temperature is now another integrated part of the WELD-TECH offer to the
welding society.
Last but not least, the pipe fitter accessories represent the 4th product group. This is the
fastest growing product group in number of products. New products will enter this group in
the future, that is for sure.
A great demand for our products has lead to exports to many parts of the world. Our
products are used in all kinds of industries; Pipeline, oil & gas, refinery, petrochemical,
pharmaceutical industry etc.
WELD-TECH strives always to meet customer demands and requirements by offering a
solution to almost any challenge within our field. The activities of the R&D at WELD-TECH
prove this factor. More product innovations are surely to come in future.

Due to its unique design, WT Clamp ensures that the clamping forces are evenly spread
round the pipe to be welded, because the distance between clamping points are exactly
the same. This is true for all pipe dimensions within the range of the WT Clamp (1 to 14
inches).
The adjusting screws have stainless steel balls at their ends. This eliminates the scratching
of the objects to be welded, and no corrosion will occur.
The arms are made of casted aluminium which allows a clamping force to meet the require-
ments for all pipe dimensions within the range of the WT Clamp (27 355 mm) and with wall
thickness of up to 15 mm.
WT Clamp can be used for the welding of all kinds of materials such as carbon steel, stainless
steel, duplex, super duplex and titanium.
The welding of pipe to pipe and pipe to fittings are easily performed with WT Clamp.

This series of robust forged Steel Clamps is designed for Pipe to Pipe or Pipe to Fittings.
The WT Steel Clamps are electro galvanized, and assure fast and effective clamping.
The Butterfly Screws are made with Stainless Steel Balls, this eliminates scratching of the
object to be welded and corrosion will not occur.
The Clamp is made of sink forged steel. This gives enough clamping force to comply with the
demands for all the pipe dimensions within the WT Steel Clamps range of 25-355 mm
(1-14).
WT Steel Clamp can be used for the welding of steel pipes. Stainless Sleeves can be mounted
on the WT Steel Clamp so it can be used for Stainless Steel, Duplex and other high alloy steel
types.

HP Clamp
Hydraulic Pipe Clamp
Save time and money - obtain better results with the HP Clamp
The easy-to-handle, flexible system to be used for pipe-to-pipe, pipe-to-bend and pipe-to-
tee or flange - align and adjust and ready to weld in less than 10 minutes!
The HP Clamp is the only hydraulic chain clamp in the world which can operate on pipe diam-
eters from 6 (168 mm) to 60 (1524 mm).The HP Clamp is able to align and adjust pipes and
fittings with wall thickness up to 1 (25 mm).
Only the length of the chain and the number of jack-bars varies according to pipe diameter -
the rest you buy only once.
The very low weight makes equipment such as cranes superfluous.
To meet the requirements from pipe manufacturers, nuclear, offshore and petrochemical
industries, all parts of the HP Clamp that makes contact with the pipes, are made of stainless
steel to avoid markings and contamination on the pipes.
The jack-bars are adjustable and removable. This makes the HP Clamp usable on smaller
pipe dimensions.

The new patented Purge Gas Equipment EZ-Purge is used from 20mm ID up to 215mm ID.
The unique design of the Silicone Ball ensures that the EZ-Purge always makes a perfect
seal. It is very user friendly and easy to push, pull and position in any Pipe or Fitting.
The Basic Unit comes in two different sizes. The small unit goes from 20mm to 51mm. The
standard length is 140mm but also can be supplied in 250mm. The large unit goes from
52mm to 219mm with a standard length of 180mm and this can also be supplied in 250mm.
This is especially important if welding with a gap, since it helps cool the Basic Unit to
prevent burn/damage from the arc. The Basic Unit can stand up to 450C.
The Purge time is under 2 minutes for all dimensions.

WELD-TECH PGE Type 210
For pipe diameters between 8 and 36 (200 mm - 900 mm)
The bigger the pipe, the longer it takes to fill a chamber with gas. Weld Tech has developed
a cylinder that will save on gas consumption.
The time to place PGE Type 210 and filling the chamber with gas, ensuring max. content of
oxygen of 25 ppm (0,0025%) is carried out between 5 and 15 minutes, depending on the pipe
size.

WT Dams
WT Dams are used where it is not possible to use standard Purge Gas Equipment (PGE).
Using the water soluble dams is a low cost way to purge a pipe, a tee or a bend.
The WT Dams are placed in the open ends, a new piece is attached, rinse and weld. The WT
Dams will dissolve when water is flowing through the pipes again.

Step 1:
Peel away backing tape cover from one side. Gently coil the adhesive
tape edge back and push the woven fibreglass strip outwards
Step 2:
Center and apply the woven fibreglass strip firmly to the backside of the
root gap. Peel away tape cover from the other side
Step 3:
Beginning from the center and slowly moving outward, apply the adhe-
sive aluminium tape to the area surrounding the root gap, providing a
smooth, air-free seal
Backing Tape is a heat resistant aluminium tape with a woven fiberglass center strip, designed
to eliminate or reduce the need for purging and create a weld pool enclosure.
Backing Tape also:
reduces setup time
eliminates/minimizes need for back purging
reduces post-weld grinding
cuts down on post-weld grinding
increases weld productivity, reduces costs
heat resistant
Backing Tape can be used with carbon steel (left photo) or stainless steel (right photo), for
sheet to sheet or pipe to pipe welding. The 1/4 gap between the sheet metal has been welded
with .045 flux core. Notice that the fibreglass has not burned away and there is no appear-
ance of oxidation
Backing Tape consists of two outer adhesive strips separated by a woven fibreglass center
strip. The adhesive edges stick to the area surrounding the root gap with the woven fibreglass
strip being positioned to the backside of the root gap.

The diamond wheel grinds the tungsten longitudinally. This prevents arc flicker or wander
caused by circumferential lines or ridges found on electrodes which have been ground
circumferentially. With tungsten electrodes ground and polished, mechanized welding can
produce identical, repeatable results every time. With manual welding the shape of the
tungsten is just as important.
With a correctly-shaped tip, the arc can be precisely positioned with none of the preferential
arcing experienced when using poorly shaped manually ground tips.

EKONOR
Your all-round solution for economical connections
Ekonor is a process especially developed for welding of pipes and fittings. The extended concept
for orbital welding of pipe connections is highly suitable for turning or fixed pipe/pipe or pipe/form
part connections.
The Ekonor process comprises a total of four components; entirely depending on the particular
need, they may be used singly or as a system solution.
Part Seam Welding
Elimination of the critical area with fell seam on account of division into two
overlapping weld seams
Welding of material thicknesses of up to 5 mm without seam preparation and
Fillers in one layer
Secure inclusion of displaced edges and different root heights
Higher melting capacity in welding of several layers
Inside Attaching Device
Radial and axial attaching of pipe ends allows for simple centring and fixation of the pipes,
better closing of gaps, and for escaping preceding gapping.
Attaching, ready forming, and welding all in one work routine
Optimal root protection, thus roots without discolouration
Appreciable reduction of preparation time
Available for pipe diameters of DN 25 to DN 400

This concept has materialized on account of the high requirements made on the pigging tech-
nique. Welding, on one hand, higher wall thicknesses, while also placing high requirements on
the weld seam quality. This applies particularly to the root sagging and the root suck back. Nor-
mally used pipe diameters in chemistry building construction will be at DN 150 and a material
thickness of 2.6 mm.
Taking the comparable nominal pipe width, in pipeline construction, to which pigging technique
may be applied, a material thickness of 4.5 mm will in fact apply. At normal orbital welding,
these material thicknesses may no longer be handled without weld filler. This is because all
welding positions will be run through during the welding process. Particularly critical in this con-
text is the fell seam position for which the preceding melting charge will have a negative effect
on the arc tension, and the slightest displacement of the edges will cause root defect(s).
Also, the fell seam position has poor degassing conditions, a fact which may well cause the
occurrence of pores in this connection.
A further drawback of the traditional orbital welding system is that starting in 9.00 hours posi-
tion will generate a root suck back of the preceding heat. The limit for normal orbital welding is
thus at appr. 3.2 mm.
Application of the part seam welding patented by Westfalen AG will divide the orbital weld
seam normally welded round 360, in two part seams. At this procedure, the first part seam will
start in 6.00 hours position and will be welded until the 13.00 hours position on one side. The
second part seam will then be welded, after being subjected to a certain amount of heating in
6.00 hours position, and a certain overlapping in 12.00 hours position (picture 1).
The critical fell seam area is thus avoided. Applying this process technique enables the welding
of material thicknesses of up to 5 mm without filler. Also an edge displacement or gap which
may always occur on a building site may be worked safely.
