Thatcham Festival Poetry Competition

Year 5 entered this poetry competition as part of their English work. I am delighted
to announce that Marcus Morley is the winner for the under 11s section with his
entry A Sandy Beach and the runner up is Quin Humphrey with his poem
Sand. The boys have been invited to read their poems at the Thatcham Festival
Poetry Competition Finale on 24th October in St Marys Church where they will
receive certificates. Congratulations to both boys and to all of Year 5 who entered.
Thatcham Infant Football Festival
We were delighted to enter 3 teams into the football festival run by Thatcham Tornadoes. Twenty of our Year 2 children woke up early last Saturday to take part in
this festival. Each team played 5 games during the morning, fortunes were mixed
but all represented their school brilliantly. We had lots of smiles and superb
sportsmanship throughout. The day ended with a presentation of medals by the
mayor to all competitors.
Many thanks to all the parents and especially to Mr Hillen for running one of our
teams.
Taking part: Leo Sidiobay, Kenzie Miller, Jake Tobin-Taylor, James Farrell, Daniel
Butler, Charlie Hillen, Rio Medford, Jacob Walker, Amy Cliffe, Finnly May, Jonas
Leno, Catherine Aedy, Luke Cuddy, Jensen Leno, Caleb Gill, Claudia Diez, Kieran
Marcham, Daniel Giles-Thornbury and Cameron Richmond.

Whilst we will expect all

behaviour to be of the
highest standard we will
pay particular focus in the
first few weeks to;

Walk quietly from A

to B and show respect by holding
doors open for
others

Thatcham Schools Tag Rugby Festival

On Saturday 11th October 20 children from Years 3 to 6 represented
the school in the superbly organised Thatcham Schools Tag Rugby Festival. Many thanks to Thatcham Rugby Club for giving us the chance to
play.
The children behaved superbly and gave their all. Fortunes were mixed
with the Year 5/6 team improving throughout the morning and ending
the day with a win.
Meanwhile the year 3/4 team didnt lose until a close 4th game but still
qualified for the semi-finals as runners up in their group. In the final
they played St Finians, last years Champions, who went on to win again
this year.
Thanks to Miss Harrison and Mrs Wallace for their organisation of the
teams on the day and to all the parents for their excellent vocal support.
Year 5/6: Josh Nicholls, Jonah Briggs, James Wallace, Connor Ford, Kian Hockaday,
