CERTIFICATE EVENING YEAR 12 STAR PERFORMERS

On the evening of Wednesday 4th December, nearly all of
last years Year 11 pupils and their parents returned to the
college to receive their GCSE Certificates. Ms Hughes told
the students that they had excelled. Presentations which
were made by Heads of Houses, Father Tom Finnegan and
Monsignor Bernard Massey were woven into a service of
prayers, readings and hymns. There were Governors
awards for Best in College which were received by Abigail
Alexander and Zachary Rigby. Other extremely high
achievers to receive Governors awards were James
Widdicks and Eleanor Brain.
Best in House Awards were presented again this year. Bell
Burnell awards to Katherine Robbins and Tristan Rudden.
Descartes awards were presented to Fatima Montero and
Daniel Traynor.
Pasteur awards were presented to Sinead OFarrell and Joe
Redmond.
The Outstanding Performance awards for greatest
progress were given to Natalia Sobieralska, Aleshia
Barrett, Tyrone Day, Jackson Reid, Lacey Berry, Sarah
Sturch, Carly Acosta, Alvin Varghese and Albin Varghese.
It was clear from the response of students that all
recipients of awards were extremely well received and that
they were worthy of such recognition. The Principals
Awards were presented to Keanan Mitchard and Abigail
Mounter for outstanding achievement and progress.
Those attending tackled a great spread of food including a
celebration cake and enjoyed catching-up with friends and
acquaintances they hadnt seen for some time. The
Certificate Evening is always a highlight of the Colleges
year, giving us a chance to acknowledge hard work and
celebrate success with pupils and families.

languages was required. Pupils had to solve some very
challenging logic puzzles. A further 28 pupils in Year 9 were
awarded a certificate of distinction for their excellent
scores, any one of these could be a future Bill Gates, Mark
Zukerberg or Steve Jobs! The top scorers were: 1st Ignatius
De Pedro, 2nd Eva Clothier and Joint 3rd Shaun McNamee

CAFOD HARVEST OF TALENTS

A group of 16 Year 9 pupils have raised a total of 371.36
for Cafod's work in Kenya. The project was a modern day
application of the parable of the talents, a parable that
communicates the message that it is important to use the
gifts that God has given us. Each pupil was given 10 with
the challenge of coming up with creative entrepreneurial
ideas to put the money to good use and raise as much
money as possible for Cafod. Pupils organised car washing,
Guess the teddy, Guess the number of sweets in the jar,
some made and sold bracelets and sold tea, coffee, cakes
and chocolates. Well done to the following pupils for their
efforts.

CHAPLAINCY GROUP VISIT LOCAL PRIMARY SCHOOLS

On Thursday 21st November 15
pupils visited Year 5 at St Teresa's
Primary school. Many of them were
former pupils. They gave a
presentation about their journey to
St Bede's from primary school,
linking to St Paul's journey to
Damascus and then talked about
their own faith journeys. Pupils also answered questions
from Year 5 about St Bede's. They all spoke very highly of
their time at St Bede's and how quickly they had settled in.
On Monday 2nd December a different group of pupils
visited St Bonaventure's Primary school to lead an assembly
on the theme of journeys for the start of advent. Many of
the group were also past pupils of St Bonaventure's. Their
assembly was based on the story of the Fourth Wise Man.
They performed the drama and even composed their own
song to share with the primary pupils. Pupils agreed that
the morning had been a success and that they had been
made very welcome at St Bonaventures.
