PROJECT AT A GLANCE

General :
The Project

2 X 660 MW Coal Based

Thermal Power Plant to be
installed at Raikheda, Tilda
Block,
Raipur
District
in
Chhattisgarh by GMR Energy
Limited.

Owner

GMR
Energy
Bangalore

Location of TPP

The Coal Based Thermal Power

Plant (TPP) is proposed to be
installed at Raikheda, Tilda
Block
in
Raipur,
District
Chhattisgarh by GMR Energy
Limited.

Main Fuel

About 7.15 MTPY of Indigenous

Coal (based on Coal GCV of
3300 kCal/kg and 85% PLF) is
proposed to be transported to
site by rail.

Auxiliary Fuel

Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) and Light

Diesel Oil (LDO) from nearby
depot by rail and road tankers.

Fuel Transportation

Coal will be transported by rail

to the power plant.

Water

The
estimated
annual
consumptive
water
requirement for the
Power
Plant is about 36 MCM.
Consumptive water would be
made available from Mahanadi
River which runs about at a
distance of 40 km. from site.
GEL will obtain clearance for

Department of Chhattisgarh.
Land

Land at Raikheda, Tilda Block,

Raipur District in Chhattisgarh
for the project of capacity of
around
2 x 660 MW
including offsite facilities will
be acquired. An area will also
be allotted for ash disposal of
10
years
within
plant
boundary.
GEL will procure the required
land for the project.

Project
Particulars:
Unit Size

2 x 660 MW Reheat Steam

Turbine Generator sets fed
from
two

Steam
Generators
with
steam
parameters of approximately
250 bar (a), 570 Deg.C.

Cooling System

Closed type cooling water

system with Natural Draft
Cooling Tower using clarified
water as cooling medium.

Consumptive Water

About 4100 Cum/hr of raw

water will be pumped from
River for the Power Plant.

Coal Storage/ Handling

System

Coal will be received by

wagons through the railway
siding. Coal storage for 15
days and mill bunker storage
for 12 hours is proposed. Coal
Handling System would be
designed for double shift
operation.

Ash Disposal area

It will have capacity of storing

ash of about 10 years for 2 x

660 MW. The approximate
area requirement will be 300
Acres considering height of 15
meters. It is envisaged that
most of the fly ash will be
utilized in various usages and
nominal ash will be dumped in
Ash Dump Yard.
Power Evacuation

Considering the station size, it

is preferable to evacuate
power at 400kV level. For
evacuation
of
power
generated from the station, it
is envisaged to use the
PGCILs grid and CSEBs grid.
Four nos. of outgoing lines has
been considered from 400 kV
switchyard
for
power
evacuation.

Environmental Aspects

One twin flue stack of 275 M

height for two units will be
constructed to meet the
pollution board standard set
for dispersion of particulate
matter, SOx and NOx.
