FADE IN:
EXT. SPACE - SATELLITE OBSERVATORY (DAWN)
Suspended among countless twinkling stars high above a
crystal blue planet, a neighboring white dwarf sun
illuminates a serene observatory-satellite built upon a
grass covered asteroid.
Constructed atop the disc shaped asteroid sits a vanilla,
and raspberry colored French styled spire. Running out from
the main door of the spire, a YOUNG WOMAN (PRINCESS
ROSALINA, 21) reaches the grass covered courtyard and stares
up as a shadow falls upon the platform.
She pushes platinum blonde bangs from her face; bright
sapphire eyes grow wide with fear.
Surrounding the observatory, an armada of flying wooden
GALLEONS complete with propellers and decks lined with
canons, entrap the peaceful island castle floating in the
ocean of stars.
Jumping down from the decks, several WINGED CREATURES
(KOOPAS) fall from space, landing a stones throw away from
the princess. Armed with massive hammers, axes, and
flamethrowers, these five foot bipedal turtles are built for
war.
ROSALINA
You creatures should have started
with someone easier. Youll feel
your mistake tomorrow, if I allow
any of you to survive.
Withdrawing a wand from her holster, Rosalina gasps as a
larger CREATURE lands behind her.
Without hesitation and a quick flick of her wrist, Rosalina
fires bright flares of light from her wand at the Creature.
As the light fades away, the Creature (BOWSER) swats away
the sparks with a massive scale-covered paw: a mild
annoyance.
Towering at seven feet tall, with a shell covered in spikes,
and spiked gauntlets, the turtle king stomps towards
Rosalina and bats her out of the way with one arm.
BOWSER
No need to fear princess, were
here to help.
Continuing towards the tower, Bowser kicks the door in.

BOWSER
Were here to save you; deliver you
from yourself.
Rosalina attempts to run after Bowser, but his minions block
her path.
ROSALINA
Stop! You cantStanding in the entryway of the observatory, Bowser turns
his head back slightly towards the princess.
BOWSER
I must. If theres any hope in
saving this universe, the power
stars must be destroyed. All of
them.
Rosalina grips her wand tight.
Seeing the odds against her, The Princess turns on her heels
and bolts towards the edge of the platform.
The Koopas look to their master, awaiting orders.
BOWSER
Bring her to me. Now.
As Bowser trudges deeper into the observatory, his platoon
of Koopas give chase to Rosalina.
Nearing the edge of the platform, the Princess gives one
last look back over her shoulder and WHISTLES as she leaps
off the asteroid. Her whistle carries across the observatory
yard. Out from the trees, DOZENS OF TINY STARS (Lumas) flock
together like birds over the army of Koopas and race after
Rosalina.
The Princess continues to fall through space towards the
planet below: her eyes shut tight.
Suddenly, the flock of Lumas swarm around the princess.
Slowly but surely, within the flock of Lumas protective
light, Rosalina reorients herself into a seated position.
Grabbing one of the Lumas, Rosalina holds it close and
whispers into the glowing star with tears of fear.
ROSALINA
Mom, please, I need help.

A unit of Winged Koopas still fly after the swarm of Lumas

surrounding Rosalina like a cocoon of light orbiting around
the ocean planet.
One of the lead Koopas observes a single Luma fly off from
the swarm out into space. Signaling to the group, a squad of
Koopas break off from the pack to follow the lone star.
With great speed, the bright yellow Luma streams past stars,
worlds, and galaxies into the depths of space.
ROSALINA (V.O.)
INT. MUSHROOM KINGDOM - MARIO BROS. HOME - BEDROOM (DAWN)
Boisterous CHIMES resonate from the grandfather clock
striking half past five. Next to the clock, a calendar with
a date circled in bright red ink is visible as morning light
seeps in through cracks in the blinds: September 23.
KITCHEN - A stout, but fit MAN (MARIO, 33) sits at the table
in dark blue coveralls with a red undershirt. He blows away
the steam from his coffee, and takes a hearty gulp.
Contentment is engraved in his smile below a thick mustache.
Entering the kitchen a LANKY MAN (LUIGI, 29) about a head
taller than his brother, wears matching coveralls, green
undershirt, and a utility belt thrown over his shoulder. The
family resemblance is uncanny.
LUIGI
Still not tired of this yet?
MARIO
If it aint broke, you dont fix
it: rule one of plumbing.
Luigi crosses over to the counter to pour himself a cup.
LUIGI
And plumbing is life.
MARIO
Plumbing IS life, are you kidding
me with this? You know what job
weve got lined up today?
LUIGI
Yeah, same as the others, traipsing
around underground, getting filthy-

MARIO
We got the castle inspection today.
Us two guys going to the friggin
castle. You know how many people
get to do that?
LUIGI
I dunno, how many people they got
on staff?
MARIO
Look at this, you wake up and its
doom and gloom right off the bat.
How about you spend a day in the
fields like them mushroom peasants,
yeah? See how quick youll miss
what we do.
Mario stands up, and picks up his tool belt strapping it on
around his waist.
LUIGI
Im just saying, somethings gotta
give. You know?
Grabbing a scone from the kitchen table, Mario takes a bite
while watching his brother glare out the window.
MARIO
Why? Whys something gotta change?
LUIGI
All Im saying isMARIO
Saying nothing, youre whining
cause youre bored, and you aint
got no pride in your trade. You see
that?
Mario points to a plaque on the wall.
INSERT - "Greatest Plumbers in the Mushroom Kingdom"
MARIO
It says Greatest Plumbers
in the Mushroom Kingdom.
LUIGI
...Greatest Plumbers in the
Mushroom Kingdom.
LUIGI
Surprise, blockhead, were the only
plumbers in this kingdom.

Mario grabs Luigi by the shoulder and turns him around on

his heals. With a smile, with conviction, he points a white
gloved finger right in his brothers face.
MARIO
Youre damn right we are, and aint
nobody around thats got the chops
to beat us.
(Beat)
Comon.
EXT. MARIO BROTHERS HOME (SAME)
Mario exits, Luigi trudging behind, he takes in a deep
breath of morning air.
MARIO
You smell that?
LUIGI
Yeah, the cleanest air Ill smell
all day long.
MARIO
Thats the smell of two guys that
wake up with the freedom to do what
they do best.
LUIGI
Brother, you been eating the wrong
kind of shrooms.
MARIO
Know what? How bout ya shut your
face, or Im gonna shut if for you?
How bout that?
Mario gives Luigi a brotherly punch in the arm as they
approach two DINOSAURS (YOSHI) hitched up to a post beside
their house. The Yoshis are about the size of a touring
motorcycle, with a face like a puppy, and smooth features
like a dolphin despite their reptilian appearance.
Luigi and Mario saddle up their respected Yoshis, one blue,
one green.
MARIO
You know what I want today?
LUIGI
You want another plaque.

MARIO
Ill get another plaque; what I
want is you to know that you matter
to this place. Your work matters.
Alright?
Luigi mounts his blue Yoshi, and looks over to his brother.
LUIGI
Ah, yeah, I get that. You gotta
tissue or somethin I think Im
welling up over here.
MARIO
You gonna be like that, forget I
mentioned it. Just forget it.
LUIGI
(Mock crying)
Ah man, if only I knew the
kingdoms greatest plumber to
stop up these water works pourin
outta my eye holes.
Mario HUFFS and mounts his Yoshi. Pulling on the reins, he
slaps the side of the dinosaurs flank and off it runs.
Luigi follows close behind.
Finally, as The Brothers gallop down the hillside from their
house, the morning sun rises over the mountains illuminating
the vast and glorious MUSHROOM KINGDOM.
ROLL TITLE CREDITS - "A Link Throughout Worlds"
EXT. MUSHROOM KINGDOM - TOWN SQUARE (CONTINUOUS)
Sprawling grasslands blanket the lush countryside
intersected by half a dozen rivers flowing from a great
crystal blue river.
Beside the river, backed up against a towering mountain
range sits the MUSHROOM CASTLE. A blend of English and
Italian renaissance styles, the ivory spire is an inviting
and hopeful presence towering over the land.
Passing through Italian villas on their bipedal Yoshis, the
few HUMANS and MUSHROOM PEOPLE give a courteous wave, or a
shout as The Brothers Mario pass by.
Exiting the TOWN SQUARE, the Brothers ride up the winding
red and white brick road to the castle gate.
7.
EXT. MUSHROOM CASTLE (SAME)

The brothers pull on the reigns of their Yoshis, trotting
to a halt by the massive steel gate... left ajar.
Looking through the steel bars, all throughout the front
courtyard, over the drawbridge: completely vacant.
LUIGI
Hello?
MARIO
Mario Brothers plumbing, we have a
scheduled inspection?
A flock of flying puffer fish rise from the bushes: silence.
LUIGI
Well they left the gate open for
us, so...
MARIO
Shouldnt we sign in or something?
LUIGI
Or maybe the royals dont want to
get outta bed at six in the morning
for a couple a plumbers?
MARIO
Whatd I tell you about that
attitude?
Luigi smirks, taking another look at the castle; still
nothing. Dismounting his Yoshi, and withdrawing his tool kit
from the saddle, Luigi looks back to his brother.
LUIGI
Yeah, sorry, or whatever. Lets
just get to work.
MARIO
Sure. Fine.
Making their way across the courtyard, and over the
drawbridge, Luigi grows evermore weary of the unusual
silence.
LUIGI
This place doesnt have guards or
nothing?

MARIO
Guards for what?
LUIGI
I just thought thered be somebody
here, you know?
MARIO
Like you said, maybe its early.
Having reached the main door, Mario gives just one firm
knock on the door and it swings open.
LUIGI
When is it okay to be creeped out?
Ignoring his brother, Mario cups a hand over his mouth and
shouts into the castle.
MARIO
Mario Brothers Plumbing, were here
for the inspection.
Turning to his brother, they both shrug and enter.
INT. MUSHROOM CASTLE (CONTINUOUS)
Lining the marble walls tapestries are hung through the
expansive foyer. Bright tile on the floor is patterned to
look like a sun, and a massive skylight shines above.
Below the skylight, the Brothers observe a bizarre sight at
the top of the stairs of the second floor balcony across
from them.
Five Koopas (from earlier) each hold a side of a BURLAP SACK
wriggling and writhing in their grip.
LUIGI
(To Mario)
You thinking these guys are with
the waste management union?
MARIO
(To Koopas)
Got a feeling whats in that sack
dont belong to you, boys.
KOOPA SERGEANT
(To Koopa Private)
Our orders still stand; get this to
Lord Bowser.
9.
KOOPA PRIVATE
Yes, sir!
The KOOPA PRIVATE slings the sack over his shoulder and
sprouts feathery wings. He only gets about a foot off the
ground before a WRENCH collides with his face.
The Koopa Private drops the sack, and rolls his unconscious
shell down the stairs, stopping at Marios feet.
MARIO
You fellas aint going anywhere
without answering a few questions.
LUIGI
They dont really strike me as the
cooperative type, brother.
MARIO
Kinda hoping it goes that way.
Two turtle soldiers run down the steps to intercept Mario
and Luigi.
Grabbing the unconscious turtle by his boots, Luigi spins
the amphibian around hammer throw style, and hurls him at
the incoming Koopas.
The Koopas collide with their unconscious comrade, as Mario
jumps up and over the falling bodies, and sprints up the
staircase.
The first two turtles arent quite beaten yet, but Luigi
starts working on them with his white gloved fists before
they have a chance to get back up.
Nearly at the top of the stairs, Mario dodges incoming
HAMMERS thrown by the remaining two turtles.
MARIO
(to Luigi)
Heads up down there.
Luigi ducks just in time as one of the hammers buries itself
into the granite tile next to him.
Before the Koopa Sergeant has
mallet, Mario socks him right
knock out. The last remaining
Mario from behind, face first
a chance to lob another

in the face for an instant
Koopa however is able to kick
to the floor.

Mario rolls over onto his back just as the Koopa slams his
hammer into the ground. The turtle raises the mallet up for
another swing, but Luigi, up from behind, throws a right
cross and a left jab to the back of the turtles head.
Taking the hammer from the nearly finished Koopa Trooper,
Luigi swings, knocking the turtle over the balcony.
MARIO
Nice hit.
LUIGI
You alright?
MARIO
Im fine-- Hey!
Mario watches as the Koopa Sergeant gets to his feet and
sprouts a pair of wings. Sprinting down the stairs, the
turtle jumps, and takes flight.
Luigi throws his hammer at the flying turtle, but its a
miss. Bursting through the glass skylight, the Koopa quickly
soars out of sight.
LUIGI
You think were gonna get hazard
pay for any of this?
MARIO
Lets see what these goons were
trying to make off with.
The Brothers approach the still squirming sack cautiously.
Carefully Mario holds down the sack, loosening the rope
around the top.
MARIO
Its okay, relax, we got ya.
Tossing aside the rope, Mario opens the sack to reveal a
beautiful YOUNG WOMAN (PRINCESS PEACH, 29) in a pink dress.
Her golden hair is tussled, and shes without a crown, but
still instantly recognizable.
LUIGI
Its the friggin princess. Um,
sorry-- Your Majesty.
Luigi corrects himself taking a knee alongside his brother.
11.
MARIO
Princess Peach, please forgive our
intrusion to the castle, but weve
stopped the intruders and rescued
you from theirStill dusting herself off, the Princess looks down at Mario
with disgust.
PRINCESS PEACH
You IDIOTS, do you have any idea
what youve done?
Mario and Luigi exchange confused glances.
LUIGI
What WE did, your highness?
PRINCESS PEACH
Oh, stand up the both of you,
whoever you are.
MARIO
Were the Mario Brothers; here for
the plumbing inspection.
PRINCESS PEACH
Well Mario Brothers, your
interference probably just doomed
the entire kingdom. So, thanks for
that.
The Princess turns and walks away through the door at the
top of the stairs. Calling back over her shouldersPRINCESS PEACH
You two are both banished from the
kingdom, obviously.
Marios jaw and heart sinks to the bottom of his chest.
MARIO
Banished?
LUIGI
Hey, listen here your royal-ness,
we just beat five dudes to make
sure you didnt get yourself
kidnapped. Now in polite circles a
thank you is typically what comes
after that, don you think?
The Princess stops, and slowly turns. Sauntering up to
Luigi, Peach smiles and replies-

PRINCESS PEACH
Well then, Mario is it?
LUIGI
Im Luigi, thats my older brother
Mario over there.
MARIO
How you doin.
PRINCESS PEACH
Luigi; my getting kidnapped was
part of a very delicate plan made
to ensure that my kingdom wouldnt
get invaded by an army of those
dudes. Now that youve thwarted
that plan, a legion of soldiers
lead by a warmongering tyrant will
descend upon us, and decimate
everything I hold dear. With that
in mind, Ill hold the thank you,
and banish you from my kingdom so
your idiocy doesnt destroy us all
any quicker.
MARIO
Your highness, please-- weve
served this kingdom all our lives.
PRINCESS PEACH
And I hope you hold those memories
dearly as you relocate yourselves
to someplace else.
The Princess again tries to leave, but Mario circles in
front of her, blocking her path.
MARIO
Princess, forgive me, but you
getting kidnapped couldnt have
been the only way to save the
kingdom. What about an army?
PRINCESS PEACH
(Laughs)
An army? An army of Mushroom
people? I love all my citizens,
except you two of course, but
mushroom people are not warriors.
LUIGI
Well those turtles went down pretty
easy, so...
13.
PRINCESS PEACH
They would have gone down faster,
had I been kidnapped and gotten
close enough to kill their king.
With a mock curtsy, the princess climbs the upper staircase
to her quarters. Mario and Luigi trail after her.
MARIO
How soon until that army gets here?
PRINCESS PEACH
Thats not your concern.
LUIGI
Hey this is our kingdom too.
PRINCESS PEACH
Was your kingdom. Be gone now.
MARIO
What if we find you an army?
Standing in the doorway to her quarters, the Princess
relents, and turns towards the Brothers.
PRINCESS PEACH
Three days from now an army will be
at my doorstep with unequaled
firepower and now, thanks to you,
has a thirst for vengeance over
their fallen comrades. Ive had
enough of your help for one
lifetime. Thanks.
MARIO
We cant just do nothing. In fact,
we owe it to you; to everyone.
PRINCESS PEACH
(Sighs)
Fine.
The Princess quickly dashes into her room towards the
dresser.
Peach pauses. Sitting atop the dresser is the Luma from
earlier still replaying Rosalinas recorded message.
LUMA / ROSALINA (RECORDING)
14.
Ringing a small bell beside her bed, a SERVANT (Mushroom

Butler) walks in from a side door wearing a tux and holding
two leather sacks half the size of grocery bags.
Taking the bags, Peach walks back to The Brothers.
PRINCESS PEACH
This was your payment for todays
inspection. Now, youll use it as
an incentive to buy us an army.
MARIO
Princess, I dont think this is
gonna buy a whole army.
PRINCESS PEACH
No? Youd better hope that it gets
us something, or were screwed.
LUIGI
Lets say we do this; when we come
back with our army and save the
kingdom, what do we get ifMARIO
Well get the honor of saving our
kingdom. Thank you, princess. We
wont let you down.
Mario takes Luigi by the arm, and leads him out.
LUIGI
Jeez, What gives?
MARIO
You see that look in her eyes?
Youre lucky that crazy broad
didnt just kill us right there.
EXT. MUSHROOM KINGDOM - TOWN SQUARE (AFTERNOON)
Riding atop their Yoshis through the town square, Mario and
Luigi follow a brick road down towards one of the rivers.
They follow the river far from the town, eventually coming
to the edge of a cliff overlooking an expansive ocean.
LUIGI
So where we gonna get this army
from? Not Isle Delfino; those guys
are a bunch of potheads.
15.
MARIO
Were taking the warp pipe to
Hyrule Kingdom.
LUIGI
Hyrule? I dont know, royal
relations with them aint much
better.
Mario dismounts his Yoshi, and jogs over to a large GREEN
PIPE the size of a grain silo coming out of the ground on
the edge of the cliff.
Removing a wrench from his tool belt, Mario twists open a
valve beside a steel door on the side of the Warp Pipe.
Luigi hops off his dinosaur and stands beside his brother.
LUIGI
You know Im getting tired of
fixing other peoples mess, what
makes you think those Hylians
arent thinking the same thing?
MARIO
Cause Im willing to risk that not
everybody else is as tired of
helping other people as you.
LUIGI
Bro, the princess weve been
breaking our backs over for years
just threw us out. Now youre gonna
try an earn your way back in, are
you kidding me?
Mario stops turning the wrench and bangs it against the
pipe.
MARIO
Im trying to do whats right!
LUIGI
How about you relax and think-?
MARIO
How about you think of someone
other than yourself for once?
Taking a deep breath Mario turns his attention back to the
door.
16.
LUIGI
Im thinking about you. What kind
of army you think we can wrestle up
in seventy-two hours, with two bags
of coin? Maybe you should think
about whats going to happen to
you: to us.
MARIO
Ill tell you what Im thinking.
Mario finally wrenches the steel door open. The sound of
rushing water can be heard echoing inside the dark pipe.
MARIO
Im going to jump in this pipe and
do what I can do to protect my
home: our home. Thats the right
thing to do. Just that simple. What
are you going to do?
EXT. WARP PIPE (MOMENTS LATER)
Mario and Luigi shut the steel door behind them. As the
clanging of the hatch winds to a close, a BUZZER SOUNDS and
a RED LIGHT above the door lights up - "IN USE"
INT. WARP PIPE (SAME)
Walking their Yoshis atop a steel catwalk, Luigi looks over
the side of the rail down an infinite chasm illuminated only
by the what looks like falling stars trickling down the side
of the pipe.
LUIGI
You ever used one of these before?
MARIO
Once.
LUIGI
Yeah?
MARIO
Yeah. Didnt like it.
Luigi takes another look over the side into the abyss.
LUIGI
So how is this supposed toBefore Luigi can finish, Mario has already mounted his
Yoshi, sprinting full tilt off the catwalk.
17.
MARIO (O.S. ECHO)
Wahooooooooooo!
Quickly, Luigi scrambles atop his Yoshi. Grabbing hold of
the reigns, his breathing becomes more rapid as panic grips
hold of him.
Digging his heels into the sides of the Dinosaur, Luigis
Yoshi gallops forward, diving off the catwalk and into
darkness.
Luigis SCREAM reverberates off the walls, twisting and
distorting into 16-BIT SOUND. The lights flowing down the
side of the wall stream faster, and faster. Soon the falling
white lights become brighter, illuminating the clear walls
of the pipe.
Outside the translucent walls, Luigi watches ocean water
stream past him at an incredible rate as he flies through
the warp tube.
Still picking up speed, the light streaming alongside Luigi
continues to grow brighter, and brighter until its as if he
were flying towards the sun when suddenlyINT. HYRULE KINGDOM - WARP PIPE (SAME)
Luigi opens his eyes, pupils wide, astonished to find
himself still alive.
Standing beside him, his brother gives him a pat on the
back.
MARIO
Well, that wasnt too bad the
second go around. Come on.
EXT. HYRULE KINGDOM - WARP PIPE (CONTINUOUS)
Above the door, the warning light turns from red to green
and reads "STAGE CLEAR."
Mario and Luigi exit the Warp Pipe into a clearing the size
of a basketball court. There is no determinable trail
leading out of the clearing surrounded by dense woods, and
rainfall steadily beats upon the brothers.
Mario looks up at the sky, thick rain clouds obscure a clear
view of the sun.
MARIO
If I remember my world geography,
Hyrule Castle should be South East
of here.
18.
LUIGI
Anywhere out of the rain is good
enough for me.
EXT. HYRULE KINGDOM - KOKIRI FOREST (LATER)
While rain still pours above the forest canopy, The Brothers
atop their Yoshis travel deeper into the woods.
LUIGI
You sure this is South?
MARIO
Hey if you wanna lead, you go on
ahead.
LUIGI
Ill do that.
Luigi slaps the side of his Yoshi, as it gains speed and
pulls ahead of Mario.
LUIGI
This guy is gonna tell me which way
is-- shit!
Tumbling head over heals, Luigi falls down into a ravine
which opens into a wide clearing. Branches snap and leaves
crunch under the avalanche of Luigi and his steed.
Luigis body finally hits hard on the forest floor, covering
him in a thick layer of mud and dark, rich earth.
Attempting to wipe off the soil, Luigi gets to his feet. He
looks back to Mario who is cautiously leading his Yoshi by
the reigns down the steep embankment.
MARIO
You alright down there?
LUIGI
Fine. Just fine.
MARIO
Yeah, you look terrific. Dont
move.
LUIGI
I told you, Im. Fine.
Luigi wipes the mud from his eyes. Finally able to grasp a
clear picture of his surroundings, the young brother notices
a GIGANTIC OAK TREE (GREAT DEKU TREE, 900) in the center of
the clearing.

With streams of light dancing in through the dense tree
tops, and an unearthly stillness, it becomes clear Luigi has
stumbled upon a sacred place; a sentiment which is enforced
by a resounding verbal warning.
GREAT DEKU TREE (O.S.)
Who dare enter thine sacred
grounds?
Having caught up to his brother, Mario slaps the back of
Luigis head.
MARIO
What did I tell you about moving?
LUIGI
Ive been standing right here.
The voice booms again, followed by a CLAP of thunder.
Answer, or be consumed by my
forest; transformed into sustenance
for my children.
MARIO
Forgive us, um, Sir?
Sir? How dare you compare me to a
mere human!
Carefully, Mario and Luigi attempt to back up the side of
the hill, but thick branches sprout up, blocking their path
like a barbed-wire fence.
MARIO
Excuse us, Forest... Guardian. We
got lost on our way to Hyrule
Castle, we dont mean to intrude.
The Brothers continue to circle the perimeter of the great
oak. Eventually, they come to the front of the tree. In full
view, engraved upon the great oak from stump to top is an
enormous FACE of an ancient man.
GREAT DEKU TREE
What business do you have with
Hyrule?
LUIGI
Our kingdom is under attack, or it
will be, and weve been sent out to
gather an army.

GREAT DEKU TREE

You seek war?
MARIO
No! We wanna save our kingdom from
being burnt to the ground.
LUIGI
Please, we only got three days.
YOUR TIME
ME, FOR I
ANCIENTS,
NOT BOUND
TIME.
GREAT DEKU TREE

IS OF NO CONSEQUENCE TO
AM THE ANCIENT OF
AND KEEPER OF PEACE. I AM

MARIO
To preserve peace, peace cannot be
passive, but must be an action made
by all at all times.
LUIGI
(To Mario)

Silence again falls in the forest. After a moment passes,
groaning, and creaking wood resounds through the clearing.
GREAT DEKU TREE
Hold out your right hands.
Mario hesitantly offers his hand. Luigi begrudgingly offers
his hand as well.
Above them,
WHITE LIGHT
sound, like
ears as the
bursting from the tree tops, a small BALL OF

(NAVI, 12) descends upon them. The buzzing
a hummingbirds wings, invades the Brothers
light zips around them.
LUIGI
I dont like this- Ouch!
Luigi recoils his hand as the light passes over him. Mario
also flinches as the ball of light flies off towards the
tree.
Landing upon the upper lip of the Great Deku Tree, the light
subsides revealing the form of a YOUNG GIRL in a blue dress
with translucent wings. She poises her dagger, stained with

the Brothers blood over the mouth of the tree. As the red
drops fall, the grass blanketing the clearing floor rustles,
moved by a gust of wind.
GREAT DEKU TREE
You posses pure blood.
LUIGI
(To Mario)
If you told me I was going to wake
up today to be eaten by a tree...
GREAT DEKU TREE
Righteousness flows within you.
Therefore, you seek the Hero of
Hyrule. He will aid in the defense
of your kingdom, for it is he who
defends the righteous. Follow my
servant Navi, she will guide you to
He who shall deliver you from ruin.
MARIO
(Cringing)
Thank you, uh, Great Tree.
The stillness returns to the forest clearing.
LUIGI
Is that all?
Spiraling down from the Deku Tree, Navi once more circles
over The Brothers heads. Luigis impulse is to swat at the
fairy, but Mario staves his brothers hand.
MARIO
I think that might be Navi.
Out from the clearing, the brothers follow the trail of
light left by the fairy through the dense woods.
EXT. KOKIRI FOREST - KOKIRI VILLAGE (LATER)
The rain has subsided. Following their Fairy Guide, The
Brothers come upon a glade containing a small pond, and
several tree houses tethered together by a series of
interconnecting suspension bridges.
Zipping up to one particular tree house, noticeably
separated from the others, their Fairy Guide rests upon the
thatched roof.

MARIO
Looks like thats the spot.
As Luigi hitches up the Yoshis to a nearby post, Mario
climbs the ladder attached to the side of the tree.
Reaching the balcony, Mario looks up to the Fairy Girl, who
upon further inspection looks like a young child with a
dress stitched together by silk and violet pedals.
Smiling back at Mario, she pats the top of the roof with her
tiny hand.
Mario nods and enters.
INT. KOKIRI VILLAGE - LINKS HOUSE (CONTINUOUS)
Pushing aside the curtain, Mario surveys his surroundings;
a two bedroom loft, dimly lit by a single lantern. The
plumbers fist clenches as a dark lump moves in the corner.
Straining his eyes Mario can barely recognize the outline of
a VERY OLD MAN (MASTER OF ARMS, 80).
MASTER OF ARMS
Navi send you?
MARIO
Howd youMASTER OF ARMS
I can hear the racket that damn
fairy makes from a mile away.
MARIO
The Big Tree you guys got back in
the brush said wed find a guy that
could help us out here.
Standing up from his chair, The Old Man props himself up on
a Very Large Sword. His grey hair is still kept buzzed high
and tight, and his posture is of a proud soldier despite the
missing leg.
MASTER OF ARMS
What kind of guy would that be?
MARIO
Something about a Hero of Hyrule.
MASTER OF ARMS
(Laughing)
Hero of Hyrule? It will be a
glorious day when magic trees and

MASTER OF ARMS
fairies finally wither and die:
Just like the legendary Hero of
Hyrule.
At this, the old Man turns his head and spits in disgust.
MARIO
You sayin hes dead?
MASTER OF ARMS
Dead and gone. You often follow the
advice of talking trees son?
Mario is about to leave, disheartened. Before he steps out
the door, his anger boils over.
Spinning on his heels, Mario rushes the old man, grabbing
him by the collar with one hand, and holds his monkey wrench
up poised to strike with the other.
MARIO
My whole world fell apart today,
and three days from now, whatevers
left is going to be wiped clean
from from the earth. So Ill give
you one chance to tell me where I
can find somebody whos got the
balls to help save my kingdom!
The Old Soldier grins at Mario and casually tilts his head
to the side.
Mario is about to turn around, but ducks just in time before
a sword comes swinging past his head.
Standing to his feet, Mario has his fists up and ready. The
plumber takes a step into his punch, but is instead kicked
square in the chest andEXT. KOKIRI VILLAGE - LINKS HOUSE (SAME)
Luigi looks up just in time to see Mario fall backwards out
of the tree house. Rushing over to his side, Luigi looks up
to the balcony.
Wearing a forest green tunic, and a steel glare under blonde
bangs, the YOUNG MAN (Link, 17) flips off the balcony and
lands flawlessly on the ground in front of Luigi.
Luigi pulls out a large wrench from his belt and takes a
swing at Link. The wrench is parried to the side, and Link
resumes his offensive.

Holding his own against Link, Luigi rolls under a high swung
slice and backs up against Mario.
Coming to his senses, Mario leaps up from the ground tossing
a hammer at Link.
Link deflects the hammer, but Luigi steps in, knocking the
sword from Links hand. Link returns with a backhand punch
to Luigis face, before Mario steps in with a couple quick
punches.
Evading Marios onslaught, Link grabs a boomerang from his
belt and tosses it at Luigi. The boomerang misses, but
throws Luigi off balance long enough for Link to kick him in
the gut.
Regaining the upper hand, Link goes blow for blow against
Mario, finally knocking the plumber off his feet.
With Mario down, Luigi attempts to rush in but gets struck
by the boomerang on its return to Link.
Mario recovers, staggering over to Link ready to strike but
the Forest Knight has recovered his blade. With the tip of
his sword poised up against the plumbers throat, Link also
wields Marios hammer in his other hand, poised to strike.
MASTER OF ARMS (O.S.)
At ease, boy.
Link immediately sheaths sword and hammer to stand at
attention.
Mario is panting heavily, and Luigi is slowly coming around
from being knocked out.
Standing on the balcony, the Master of Arms wears a
satisfied grin as he looks down on the Brothers and Link.
MASTER OF ARMS
Now, Im not one to turn down a man
in need, but if youre looking for
folks that can fight, you aint
looking for legend or folklore,
youre looking for soldiers. My son
Link here will guide you to the
castle. Those men are the real
heroes of Hyrule.
(To Link)
You know the way, dont you, boy?

LINK
Yes, sir.
The Master of Arms nods, and hobbles back into the house.
EXT. KOKIRI VILLAGE - LINKS HOUSE (LATER)
As Mario stretches his shoulder out, Luigi looks up at the
Forest Boy with a skeptical glare.
BALCONY - The Master of Arms hobbles out onto the wooden
deck. Throwing his backpack over his shoulder, Link steps on
to the ladder. Before Link descends, the Old Soldier places
a hand on his sons shoulder.
MASTER OF ARMS
Son.
LINK
Yes, sir?
Removing the leather strap from around his chest, the
Veteran presents his SHIELD, embroidered with the Hylian
Royal Crest.
MASTER OF ARMS
Its dangerous to go alone; take
this with you.
Upon taking the shield, and slinging it over his back, the
boy replies with reverence.
LINK
Youll get it back without a
scratch. I Promise.
MASTER OF ARMS
Its not a loan.
Link examines the hardened expression on his Old Mans
weathered face; hes doesnt look like hes going to make it
much longer.
LINK
Sir?
(Beat)
Dad, I dont have to go.
MASTER OF ARMS
You take that shield and sword and
get those two to Hyrule Castle,
thats an order. Understood?

LINK
Yes, sir.
ON THE FOREST FLOOR - Link steps off the ladder to join the
Brothers Mario.
LUIGI
You got a name, kid?
LINK
Youll address me as Link, or Sir
on this expedition. am I understood
civilian?
Luigi gives Mario a raised eyebrow, and laughs.
LUIGI
I like the attitude. Its cute.
MARIO
Alright then, Link, lead on.
Grabbing a reed from off the ground, the Young Soldier cups
it in his hands and blows. A loud, melodic whistle shakes
the silent glade.
Soon, HOOF BEATS, are heard approaching the three
adventurers. Within moments, a beautiful coffee colored
stallion rears up before Link.
As the three travelers mount up their respective rides and
gallop out of the woods, The Master of Arms calls out from
atop the balcony.
MASTER OF ARMS
And if that damn pixie whispers in
your ear along the way, you lob
its wings off!
EXT. HYRULE FIELD (AFTERNOON)
Mario, Luigi, and Link ride out across the expansive plain,
sparsely riddled with spruce trees and an occasional farm
house; the Indiana of kingdoms.
Eventually, the trio comes upon a dirt road. Dust flies up
as the Stallion and Yoshis gallop at top speed.
As the riders crest a grassy knoll, Hyrule Castle becomes
visible only a few kilometers off in the distance. The
majesty of Hyrules Castle puts the humble Mushroom Kingdom
to shame from its complex architecture, to its sheer size.
27.
As the brothers marvel at the massive fortress ahead, Link

continues on down a fork in the road, away from the castle.
MARIO
Hey! The old man said you were
going to lead us to the castle.
Link pulls on the reins of his horse.
LINK
And there it is.
The Brothers exchange apprehensive looks.
MARIO
Look, Ive just about had it with
trees, fairies, old men, and now
you giving me the runaround today.
LINK
Youre looking for warriors, right?
LUIGI
Were looking for a whole army Kid.
Oh, excuse me, SIR Link.
LINK
Well, I can tell you right now,
Hyrule Castle aint going to just
loan out a legion of troops to you
two foreigners unless you got the
rupees to back it up.
LUIGI
Is that right? Well, forgive us if
we dont just take your word, but I
think well ask for ourselves. Come
on Mario.
LINK
Good luck with that.
MARIO
(To Link)
Wait, what do you know, that we
outta know?
LINK
First, Hylian archers are a shoot
first ask questions later sort. You
two will get about a half a
kilometer from the door before you
look like a pair a pin cushions.

LINK
OR, you come with me, and we can
recruit some real warriors.
LUIGI
We dont have time to play games.
Thanks and all, but well try our
luck with the castle.
MARIO
(To Link)
You know for certain we can round
up some folks who can fight?
A trail of light orbits Link, as Navi lands on the boys
shoulder. Link in turn gives Mario a knowing nod.
Luigi looks over to his brother for assurance.
MARIO
We couldnt afford to pay for an
army with what we got, and we dont
have time to haggle over price.
LUIGI
Ill trust you, but can we trust
this elf?
LINK
I aint an elf, sidekick.
Luigi withdraws his wrench ready to throw, but Mario waves
him off.
MARIO
Alright, well let you lead. If You
screw us over on this, youll have
a pair of wrenches jammed up where
you cant pull em back out again,
got it?
Gripping the reins of their Yoshis, the Brothers follow
after Link down the dirt road away from the castle as the
sun sets behind them.
EXT. SPACE - BOWSERS BATTLESHIP (LATER)
Sailing at the head of the armada, the greatest of the
wooden galleons leads the way at high speed.
29.
INT. BOWSERS BATTLESHIP - COMMAND CENTER (SAME)

At the control center, a handful of KOOPA OFFICERS man their
stations.
From the rear of the control room a steel hatch opens.
Bowser stands in the entry way.
All of the Koopas stand at attention as the bosun whistle
rings out.
KOOPA CAPTAIN
Lord Bowser, on deck.
Bowser returns salute from his troops and enters the room.
The Koopas quickly return to work as Bowser makes his way to
the Koopa Air Boss.
Turning from his console, a leathery aged turtle officer
(KOOPA AIR BOSS) turns with a salute and a cigar in his
mouth.
BOWSER
Air Boss, report.
AIR BOSS
No word from our garrison occupying
the observatory on the capture of
Princess Rosalina; the pursuit is
still on going.
BOWSER
And the squad that broke off?
AIR BOSS
We got a weak signal from the
sergeant of platoon FC-83. Weve
been unable to reestablish audio
contact, but well be in range
soon.
BOWSER
Were confident about the location
of the next power star?
AIR BOSS
Confidence is high. Its a sure bet
the Princess knew what we were
after, and was warning someone
else.
30.
COMM OFFICER (O.S.)

Air Boss, sir we have a trans
dimensional signal from FC-83.
AIR BOSS
Patch it through.
Bowser stomps over to the control station and grips the
radio with his claw.
BOWSER
FC-83, what is your status?
EXT. MUSHROOM CASTLE (EVENING/SAME)
In the courtyard of the castle grounds, hiding behind a
bush, the Koopa Sergeant nurses a broken wing and mans a
pocket radio as he bleeds out onto the grass.
KOOPA SERGEANT
Lord Bowser, Ive sustained
casualties, my troop is goneINT. BOWSERS BATTLESHIP - COMMAND CENTER (SAME)
Bowser growls into the microphone.
BOWSER
Have you located the power star?
KOOPA SERGEANT (V.O. / RADIO)
Thats affirmative, sending my
coordinates through now.
BOWSER
Lock on to those coordinates. All
hands to battle stations. Have the
armada engage star drive on my
mark.
Red lights flash, alarms are sounded, and orders are shouted
into headsets as the command center preps for combat.
AIR BOSS
All galleons ready, Lord Bowser.
BOWSER
Ready. Armed. Mark.
31.
EXT. SPACE - BOWSERS BATTLESHIP (SAME)

In front of the dozen or so ships, a wormhole opens up in
the black space like pulling the plug out from a bathtub
full of stars. All the nearby surrounding light of stars and
suns begin to swirl into the new dark void.
Bowsers Armada too sinks into the all consuming rift in
space.
EXT. MUSHROOM CASTLE (LATER)
Clutching the radio in his claw, the Koopa Sargent jerks his
head towards the rustling in the grass closing in on him.
Pulling aside the bushes, Princess Peach stares down at the
turtle with a golf club poised over her shoulder.
PRINCESS PEACH
Good evening. Dont mind me, Im
just playing through. Rough night?
The Koopa is about to open his mouth, but Peach swings the
driver down and pushes the club into the turtles throat.
PRINCESS PEACH
Princess Rosalina, where is she?
The turtle tries to speak, but Peach applies steady pressure
on her end of the club.
PRINCESS PEACH
Im sure youre not going to talk.
You probably have your orders, or a
code of honor, or whatever. You
know what I have? Ive got a
driving average of 274 yards. What
do you wadger I can knock your
skull on to the 17th green just
over there?
Pulling the club back, Princess Peach is about to swing when
the Koopa puts his arm up.
KOOPA SERGEANT
My soldiers were closing in on her
as she orbited the planet Aquas.
Theyll have her soon, just as our
army will have this world as well.
Princes Peach tilts her head in disappointment.
32.
EXT. MUSHROOM CASTLE - 17TH GREEN (SAME)

On the perfectly cut grassy knoll a mushroom spotted flag
stands propped in the hole. Suddenly, the head of the Koopa
lands just outside of the green.
The princess huffs, stomps her feet and tosses her club to
the side with an irritated growl.
EXT. GERUDO VALLEY (LATER)
As the grasslands turn to golden desert sands, the Mario
Brothers lead by Link ride through twisting canyons of
sandstone rocks and cliffs.
LUIGI
I dont know about you brother, but
this looks like a good spot for an
ambush.
MARIO
Yeah, but what does this guy gain
by bumping us off? Besides theres
two of us and one of him.
LUIGI
Theres the gold?
LINK
I dont need or want your gold. I
could have taken you two out an
hour ago, blindfolded, with a sling
shot.
LUIGI
Id like to see you try.
LINK
You wouldnt even see me coming.
MARIO
Enough. How much further?
EXT. PORT TOWN (LATER)
Lit up like a filthier version of Atlantic City Boardwalk;
casinos, hotels, and space docks shine up against the high
cliff walls and glimmer out onto the dark ocean.
A massive racetrack also extends out from the shore and out
over the ocean. A few dozen hover cars fly over the hair pin
turns, and impossible triple helix twists.
33.
Along the main boardwalk, Link leads Mario and Luigi down
the street as they lead their steeds by the reigns.
Crowds of LOCALS leer as they pass by, but never stop to
bother the trio.
On the beach, there is a CROWD of tough characters huddled
around a boxing ring. Inside the ring, in the green corner a
human boxer (LITTLE MAC, 24) squares off against what looks
like MIKE TYSON. A pixilated REFEREE (Mr. Game n Watch)
rings a bell, and the two fighters rush to the center and
begin to trade punches.
On the outside of the crowd, a human REFEREE talks down to a
Young Boy (Ash Ketchum, 10) standing beside his
five-foot-tall orange dragon.
REFEREE
Look kid, only humans in this
fight. Go take your dragon
elsewhere.
Stomping his feet, Ash throws a Poke-ball down on the
ground. As the ball opens up, an electric light lassos the
dragon and captures the beast inside the ball.
LUIGI
Looks like this place has a few
decent fighters.
The crowd cheers and chants out a ten count as Tyson knocks
Little Mac down to the mat: down but not out.
MARIO
We could use a dragon.
LUIGI
One kid to look after is enough for
my liking.
Link is about to clock Luigi with his fist, when Navi flies
off her perch on Links shoulder.
LUIGI
Whats with the fairy-- I mean the
smaller fairy?
Zipping off towards a beach side bar ahead, the trio follows
after Navi as she lands atop one of the umbrella covered
tables.
34.
LINK
Over there. Our first recruit.
Link sets off towards the table while Mario and Luigi
stagger behind a ways.
Sitting alone at the table under the umbrella is an
anthropomorphic FOX (Fox McCloud, 35) wearing a flight suit
and halfway through his fifth bottle of beer.
Link casually circles the table, standing in front of Fox.
Fox unbuckles the safety strap on the holster of his pistol.
FOX
You want an autograph or something,
fairy boy? If youre looking to
join the fan club you can sign up
for the mailing list like everybody
else. Beat it.
LINK
Im looking for skilled warriors.
FOX
Then you should be looking
elsewhere.
LINK
Maybe you should be looking for
more of a challenge than drowning
yourself.
Fox slams his pistol down on the table. An electric WHIRLING
sound of the gun warming up gradually increases in pitch.
FOX
Dont tell me what Im looking for.
Mario and Luigi are about to rush up to help Link, but the
young soldier calmly and subtly waves them off.
As Fox makes more of a deliberate effort to aim, he grins
taking note of Link standing his ground.
LINK
With what youve got in your
system, Im pretty confident Im
still gonna be standing if you pull
that trigger.
35.
FOX
I dont do causes any more, and I
aint for hire.
LINK
Its your choice. Well be at the
Bay Front Inn if you choose
something more worthy of your
skill.
Fox scoffs, and takes another long pull of beer as he
re-holsters his weapon.
FOX
Get lost, before I choose to sober
up and test your theory of you
being bullet proof.
Link bows his head, and steps back joining The Brothers. As
the trio continue down the boardwalk Mario leans into Link.
MARIO
Hassling drunks, thats your plan?
You and your winged girl-friend are
supposed to lead us to warriors,
that was the deal, Link.
LINK
If you two want to go wander off on
your own, thats fine by me. Ive
got 14 years worth of military
training to go by; I know exactly
what Im looking for and what we
need.
LUIGI
Yeah, how much real life experience
you got under your belt?
Link scowls and grabs the hilt of his sword.
LINK
Id be more than happy to show you
what I got under my belt.
Stepping between the two, Mario holds Link and Luigi back
from pummeling each other.
MARIO
Alright! Thats enough out of the
both of you.
(To Link)
Keep in mind that were on a tight
time frame, so dont waste it.
36.
(To Luigi)
And you, let the kid work. Okay?
Luigi shoves off his brother, and starts to walk ahead.
LUIGI
Let the kid work? How bout he gets
to work growing some hair on his
face, huh? How bout that?
Out from the market besides Luigi, a Large Man (Samuri
Gorro, 43) wearing racing gear and a rising sun headband
runs towards the plumber with a bushel of bananas slung over
his shoulder.
As Gorro nearly collides into Luigi, screaming can be heard
buried in the CROWD. The screaming intensifies as SOMETHING
draws near, barreling through the crowds.
LUIGI
Watch where youre going!
SAMURI GORRO
(Japanese)
You dare speak to me, gaijin?
LUIGI
Hey, I dont speak like that, you
wanna speak to me like I speak?
With a quick snort, Samuri Gorro turns to leave when a large
wooden barrel flies through the air and crashes in front of
him blocking the path.
Mario, Luigi, and Link all turn as a GREAT APE (Donkey Kong)
steps out from the crowd. Leaning back on his haunches, the
ape straightens his red neck tie and precedes to beat his
chest, starring down at Gorro.
SAMURI GORRO
I already pay. You got paid!
The ape, shakes his head and slams his forearms down on the
ground ready to charge.
The Samurai draws his sword.
Link takes a step in front of Donkey Kong.
LINK
(To Gorro)
It seems that you didnt pay him
what hes due.
37.
SAMURI GORRO
Mind youre own affairs, Gaijin.
LINK
Oh, Im sure youre fully capable
of handing your affairs. I thought
Id give you the opportunity to do
whats right. How about it?
The Samurai takes a fighting stance.
Link looks up to Donkey Kong and steps clear of the apes
path.
With a growl, Donkey Kong rushes Gorro and easily bats the
sword out of the mans hand. Gorro cowers, but refuses to
relinquish the bananas. Donkey Kong in turn refuses to hit
his opponent.
Gorro isnt entirely intimidated as he rolls out from under
the Ape and attempts to grab his sword.
Donkey Kong slams a massive fist down on the sword, and with
the other hand motions for the man to give up his cash.
LINK
Id pay up if I were you.
Donkey Kong nods quickly and HOOTS in agreement.
All of a sudden, a BLUE HOVER CAR skids to a halt stopping
short of slamming into the side of Gorro, but causes the
Samuri to topple over all the same.
The small CROWD that has gathered has their eyes fixed on
the BOUNTY HUNTER (Captain Falcon, 32) leaping out of the
cockpit of the hover car.
CAPTAIN FALCON
Gorro, hey buddy, it has been
awhile since Ive gazed upon that
shore line, sorry, I meant waist
line. You know, cause youre huge?
(To Crowd)
No need to worry folks, licensed
Bounty Hunter coming through.
Everyone take a step back, let a
professional deal with this.
Luigi jabs Mario in the ribs.
38.
LUIGI
Check out the ego on this lug head.
Captain Falcon is kneeling on top of Gorro, cuffing him
behind his back.
CAPTAIN FALCON
Blah Blah, right to remain blah
blah, with a side order of blah,
anything you blah blah will be held
against you. Do you wish to waive
the rights which I paraphrased for
you so I can sock ya in the face?
Rolling Gorro onto his back, the Samuri manages to headbutt
Captain Falcon in the face. The Captain is rattled, but
smiles.
Winding up, Falcon hits the Samuri back with such force, the
Captains hand momentarily catches fire and stuns his
opponent.
Standing back up and extinguishing his flaming hand, The
Captain tosses the bushel of bananas to Donkey Kong.
CAPTAIN FALCON
These belong to you. Obviously.
(To the crowd)
Its okay folks, everythings under
control. Go back to your business.
LINK (O.S.)
Not so subtle are we?
Grabbing the unconscious Gorro by the foot, Captain Falcon
starts to drag him back over to his hovercraft.
CAPTAIN FALCON
What was that, Elf?
LINK
You seem to lack subtlety when it
comes to besting your opponents.
CAPTAIN FALCON
I think the word youre looking for
is showmanship, and point of fact,
I got that in spades.
LINK
I suppose its easy to put on a
show when youre not up against
much of challenge.
39.
At that, the Captain drops Gorros foot and stalks up to

Link.
CAPTAIN FALCON
You got an attitude problem that
needs rearranging kid?
LUIGI
Yeah, he does.
Clenching his fist, the Captains hand reignites in a slow
burn.
LINK
No, I have a challenge for you.
Looking over to the Mario Brothers, to Link, and up at
Donkey Kong, The Captain snorts and relaxes his fist.
CAPTAIN FALCON
Thats cute and all, but my quota
for looking like a hero has been
filled today; he got his bananas,
you got to feel tough, these two
tourists saw a show, and Im gonna
go get paid.
When Captain Falcon turns around, Gorro has managed to get
to his feet and is already a good distance down the
boardwalk. Quickly pulling out his pistol, the Captain lines
up his sights.
Just as he gets a beat on his bounty, Link not only rushes
in front of the gun, but uses his sword to deflect the laser
bullet down into the ground.
When the smoke settles, Gorro is gone and Link sheathes his
sword.
Grinding his teeth, Captain Falcon kicks Link down to the
ground and kneels down on his chest. Link offers zero
resistance and is perfectly calm.
CAPTAIN FALCON
You just cost me eight thousand
large kid. Im bringing you in for
obstruction of justice.
LINK
Or, you could fight an army.

than the man who took out an army?
Captain Falcon looks back up to the Mario Brothers.
MARIO
He aint lying. Theres an army
headed our way. We need all the
help we can get.
Standing to his feet, the Captain shrugs and makes his way
back to his hovercraft.
LINK
Bay Front Inn, one hour, if youre
up for a challenge.
Jumping back up into the cockpit, the Captain speeds away.
Mario helps Link up to his feet. The young Knight brushes
himself off and addresses Donkey Kong who begins to walk
away.
LINK
That offer stands for you too.
Donkey Kong stops, snorts, then keeps walking.
LUIGI
Well, thats wonderful. Thats
three strikes kid. You run on home
to your tree house and well take
it from here, alright?
MARIO
How about we go to the Inn and see
who shows up?

LUIGI
Unbelievable. You really think any
of them will show?
MARIO
I dont know. I do know that Im
tired, hungry, and could do with
less of your whining.
Mario starts after Link.
Luigi, alone on the boardwalk, reluctantly follows.
EXT. SPACE - BOWSERS BATTLESHIP (LATER)
Traveling through a wormhole, the Koopa Armada flies through
a tunnel of rainbow light that twists and turns like a
technicolor acid trip.
Lord Bowser is sitting in his captains chair starring ahead
into the depths of space with a stoic countenance.
COMM OFFICER (O.S.)
Sir, we have another transmission
coming through from FC-83.
AIR BOSS (O.S.)
Put it through.
Grabbing a set of head phones, the Air Boss listens to the
voice from the other end.
AIR BOSS
(To Microphone)
You are not authorized to use this
frequency-- Absolutely not-- You
are not authorized to-Bowser lifts his head up out of his daze and leers towards
the Air Boss.
BOWSER
Air Boss, connect that signal to
the speakers.
AIR BOSS
Aye, sir.
The feedback pitches and fades as the speakers turn on.

BOWSER
Youre addressing Lord Bowser, King
of the Koopas and protector of
worlds; state your name.
EXT./INT. MUSHROOM CASTLE - OBSERVATORY (SAME)
Through the highest window of the great spire, Princess
Peach can be seen pacing back and forth with a radio in her
hand.
PRINCESS PEACH
I am your imminent doom if your
ship does not change course this
instant.
INTER CUT - BOWSER AND PEACH
Bowser stands up from his chair.
BOWSER
My fleet will not alter course
until the power star in your
possession has been destroyed.
Princess Peach alters control switches on something that
looks like a sound board. Still holding the microphone,
Peach gives her retort.
PRINCESS PEACH
Your fleet doesnt have to die. I
will use the power star against you
if necessary.
With her free hand, Peach is taking notes. On her paper key
words are written down: fleet, power star, capacity...
BOWSER
Youd only be endangering your own
kind. You humans do not have the
right nor the capacity toPRINCESS PEACH
Ill issue one final warning, turn
back now, or be destroyed.
BOWSER
If you attempt to use the power
star against my fleet, you will be
your own undoing.

Bowser motions for the Air Boss to cut the signal, and the
Old Soldier complies. On the control panel besides the
turtle however, the switch which reads "signal active"
remains lit.
INT. MUSHROOM CASTLE - OBSERVATORY (SAME)
Peach makes a final adjustment on her switchboard, and looks
over to a 1980s computer monitor. On its screen, the
monitor reads "signal active." Ambient CHATTER from the
Koopas ship can be heard from a speaker beside the monitor.
Turning around to address several MUSHROOM PEOPLE standing
at attention in front of what looks like a giant turret gun,
Peach gives them their orders.
PRINCESS PEACH
That fleet will be here in two
days, you have twenty-four hours to
figure out how to get that thing
back up and running. Make it
happen.
The Mushroom minions salute and rush out of the room. As her
servants leave the room, Peach looks over to a desk where
the Luma from before still RECITES its message.
Princess Peach solemnly moves towards the telescope.
PRINCESS PEACH
Ill find a way. I promise, I will
find a way.
EXT. PORT TOWN - BAY FRONT INN (LATER)
At the end of the boardwalk, a dumpy two story motel with an
attached bar barely holds itself together. The paint on the
weathered wood is peeling, and the neon lights flicker.
INT. BAY FRONT INN - BAR (SAME)
The bar within nearly matches the exterior.
Luigi comes back from the restroom and takes a seat next to
Mario who leans up against the bar. The younger Brother
motions to the BARTENDER, and a drink is slid down his way.
Link sharpens his sword sitting on a stool facing out
towards the open doorway.
MARIO
Im gonna use the John, keep an eye
out for recruits.

Luigi places a hand on his brothers shoulder.

LUIGI
Why not cut our losses? Were
already out of the kingdom, why not
set up shop out here?
Mario shakes his head in disappointment and pushes past his
brother. Luigi scoffs and takes another drink.
LUIGI
(To Link)
Looks like youve made it out of
the woods before; you wouldnt want
to ditch the forest for this place?
LINK
This place is a toilet.
LUIGI
Come on, this is civilization. It
aint all bad.
LINK
I come here twice a year to trade
timber with my father. Its
different, its exciting, but its
not home. I wouldnt give up a
place to call home for all the
lights, and all the drink in
Hyrule.
LUIGI
Everybodys gotta leave the nest
eventually.
Link stops sharpening his sword and looks back to Luigi.
LINK
Theyre going to be coming soon,
would you mind helping me, please?
LUIGI
Sure they are. But as long as
youre using ya manners, whacha
need exactly?
Feigning a smile, Link hands his sword hilt first to Luigi.
LINK
I need you to stand up against the
side of the doorway, and if anybody
comes through, I want you to...

Link makes a chopping motion through the air. Luigi raises

an eye brow and takes the sword.
LUIGI
Youre a sick kid, Link.
LINK
If they cant pass this simple
test, you wouldnt have wanted them
fighting with you anyhow.
LUIGI
Yeah, but I aint going to straight
up murder nobody either.
Luigi takes a practice swing instantly displaying his
ineptitude with handling a sword.
LINK
Im pretty sure YOU wont be
killing anyone. I just want to see
if they startle easy.
The plumber shrugs and makes his way over to his post hiding
behind the door frame.
LUIGI
Alright, whatever.
Mario walks back into the bar and takes a seat beside Link.
With his glass, the older plumber motions toward the
younger.
MARIO
(To Luigi)
What the hell are you doing?
LUIGI
Just running a few tests on our
perspective candidates.
LINK
Hes fine, Luigis right where I
need him to be.
MARIO
If you say so.
Mario takes another long pull of his drink.

EXT. / INT. BAY FRONT INN - BAR (LATER)
Skidding to a halt and parallel parking in between two other
hover crafts, Captain Falcon jumps out of his ride and
struts up to the entrance of the bar. Catching sight of
Link, the Captain gives a mock salute.
CAPTAIN FALCON
Hey there forest friend, about this
army fighting business-- one
second.
Stepping through the door and without even looking, Captain
Falcon punches Luigi in the gut, and keeps on walking.
CAPTAIN FALCON
Drinks are on you, right?
Excellent.
Luigi keels over, winded.
Proudly walking on all fours, Donkey Kong looks through the
entryway to see Captain Falcon, Mario, and Link having
drinks.
As The Ape gets to the entrance, Luigi holds the sword up
ready to strike. The great ape however punches THROUGH the
wall and knocks the plumber out.
With a satisfied snort, the mighty Kong makes his way
inside.
With
him,
five
with
his metal prosthetic legs compacting the sand beneath

Fox McCloud trudges up the path towards the Bar. About
feet from the entrance, he stops and looks up at Link
a screwdriver making adjustment on a grappling gun.
Luigi, noticeably bruised, shakes as he holds the sword up

ready to strike.
Fox grins at Link.
FOX
Surely you jest.
Drawing from the hip, Fox fires his pistol...
...blasting a hole through the wall, the laser punches the
sword out of Luigis hand. His nerves rattled, Luigi remains
frozen in place as Fox walks through the door.
47.
EXT. SPACE - AQUAS (DAWN)

Close behind their target, increasingly exhausted Koopas
continue to fly after their target. A few drop from
formation, falling towards the planet.
Ahead of the winged soldiers, Princess Rosalina continues to
orbit around the planet encased in a cocoon of light from
her flock of Lumas.
Past the ocean planet, far through the vastness of space,
Bowsers Fleet of warships continue their path through a
tunnel of brilliant colored light.
Moving faster ahead of the fleet, past stars and planets, a
world like a blue and green marble comes into view.
EXT. MUSHROOM KINGDOM - CASTLE (CONTINUOUS)
Flying in through the atmosphere, over the green hills and
Italian villas, a PHONE RINGS from somewhere inside the
castle.
INT. MUSHROOM CASTLE - OBSERVATORY (CONTINUOUS)
Face down on her desk covered in a pile of blue prints and
schematics, another RING sends Princess Peach out of her
chair and on to the floor.
Fumbling with her radio set, the Princess flicks on the
receiver switch.
PRINCESS PEACH
How dare you wake me before noon!
What? The Brothers who?
Mario is on the phone sitting on a bar-stool beside Luigi.
LUIGI
They got us on hold?
OPERATOR (V.O. / FILTERED)
Please hold for her majesty
Princess Peach, your call is very
important to us.
In the back of the bar, Link is meditating on top of a
table. Captain Falcon is downing shots against Fox and
loosing. Donkey Kong is asleep in a booth.

PRINCESS PEACH (V.O. / FILTERED)

What do you two clowns want?
MARIO
Princess, weve gathered warriors
toPRINCESS PEACH (V.O. / FILTERED)
Sure you have. Im really busy so
why dont you and your other
plumber friends get back to work on
recruiting that army.
MARIO
The, uh, head of the army had a few
questions.
INTER-CUT - BETWEEN PRINCESS PEACH AND MARIO
Princess Peach has her radio headset pushed between her
shoulder and her ear. Shes overlooking blue prints while
MUSHROOM PEOPLE in the background weld machinery onto the
telescope.
PRINCESS PEACH
Listen plumber, you bring your army
back to the kingdom then well talk
about payment.
Mario stands up and snaps his fingers at Link. He in turn
wakes from his meditative state.
MARIO
No, he needed some information
about that army thats coming for
us.
Peach walks back other switchboard, pressing a hand against
her other ear.
PRINCESS PEACH
What information?
Luigi is holding scratch paper and tapping his pencil
against the bullet point notes.
MARIO
How many ships does he got?
Peach scoffs, and grabs her notes beside the switchboard.

PRINCESS PEACH
Eight.
MARIO
How many troops per ship?
PRINCESS PEACH
A couple hundred each. Look, LuigiMARIO
This is actually Mario speaking
your majesty.
LUIGI (O.S.)
Yo, Princess.
Rolling her eyes to the back of her head, the Princess puts
on a pair of safety goggles and walks back towards the
construction in the observatory.
PRINCESS PEACH
Both of you, either you have an
army or not, but dont waste my
time with questions.
Link motions for the phone and Mario hands it over.
LINK
Maam, my name is Link of Hyrule
Kingdom.
PRINCESS PEACH
You sound like youre sixteen years
old kid, what do you want?
LINK
In order to formulate a strategy to
aid your kingdom, I need to know
from which sea the enemy is coming
in from.
PRINCESS PEACH
Sea? Theyre coming from space.
The Princess tosses her headset aside, picks up a welding
torch, and lowers her welding visor.

As the line goes dead, Link hangs the phone up on the
receiver hanging on the wall. He folds his hands together.
LINK
You didnt tell me they were coming
from space.
MARIO
Space?
LUIGI
What do you mean, like up there
space?
From the back of the room across from a blacked out Captain
Falcon, Foxs ears twitch. Standing up from the table Fox
declaresFOX
Im out.
LUIGI
Come on, they cant really be from
space. Right?
FOX
Im from space. I dont do space
anymore. You guys are on your own.
MARIO
Mr. McCloud, please, we need your
help.
LINK
You have the freedom to choose: you
have the freedom to make the right
choice. This fight is right-FOX
Youre aint my captain.
Nearly at the door, Fox stops at the sound of a GUNSHOT and
the hook and chain that buries itself into the door post
beside him.
Following the chain back to Link holding his grappling gun,
Fox clenches his fists.
LINK
As of this moment, I am your
captain. And we have a job to do.

From the back of the bar, Donkey Kong rolls off of his booth
and makes his way towards the group. Captain Falcon also
begins to come around.
Fox marches up to Link as the young boy retracts his
grappling hook out of the wall and back into the gun.
FOX
Youre ready to shoulder the burden
of command are you? You mightve
learnt what a leader is in books;
do you know what its like to have
your team get picked off one by
one? How many have you lost in real
combat, captain?
Link remains standing despite Foxs itchy trigger finger,
and Donkey Kong breathing down his back.
FOX
Im guessing Zero. Thats the
quantity of loss under your
command, and the sum total of your
experience.
LINK
You want to step up and lead then?
MARIO
Look, we dont care which one of
you wants to lead, we just need
your help.
CAPTAIN FALCON (O.S.)
I got a badge. I get to lead.
From the rafters, Navi watches Fox and Link still face to
face with tensions brewing.
LINK
All of you are strong on your own,
but theres something coming thats
bigger than any one of us can stand
against alone. Theres a whole
fleet coming for innocent people,
and if we dont stand in its way,
whos to stop them from rolling
right over everyone else?
Captain Falcon has staggered his way up to the front with
the others.
52.
CAPTAIN FALCON
See, badge, I got it right here.
LUIGI
So do we want to put this to a
vote, or what?
Suddenly, bursting through the side window, glass and wood
shatters as a PINK BLUR (Kirby) comes tumbling into the bar
like a cyclone.
Before any of the men can react, a robotic and feminine
laced voice commands the room from the entrance.
SAMUS (O.S.)
Everyone get down.
Kicking in the bar doors, what looks like a six foot tall
HUMAN (Samus Aran, 19) wearing a gold and red armored space
suit aims a cannon attached to her arm at the back of the
room.
With a mighty POP, a rocket flies out from Samus cannon.
Peaking up from one of the booths, the Pink blob jumps up on
one of the tables like a jolly marshmallow about three feet
tall.
As the rocket approaches, Kirby opens his mouth wide like a
great vacuum and inhales the projectile.
Just as Kirby swallows, with a smile on his face, Samus has
already sprinted over to him and ensnared the pink blob in
an electric grappling rope.
Tethered to the electric rope, Samus slams Kirby up into the
ceiling and down into the floorboards.
FOX (O.S.)
(Clapping)
Samus Aran; Federation lapdog.
Making sure Kirby is down for the count, Samus places a
restraining bolt on him for good measure.
SAMUS
Fox McCloud. Youre almost out of
pubs to crawl to on this world,
arent you?
FOX
Id rather be crawling than having
my chain pulled by some company.
53.
Dragging Kirby behind her, Samus makes her way to the

entrance. Donkey Kong blocks her path.
SAMUS
Anyone want to get this walking
carpet out of my path?
(To Fox)
I have people that are depending on
me to show up on time, and sober.
Captain Falcon leans up against the post next to Samus with
drunken swagger.
CAPTAIN FALCON
I know how you feel.
FOX
You have people that send you out
for chores. If you dont show up,
you just get replaced.
SAMUS
Thats explains exactly why I have
your job and youre down here.
Arming her cannon, Samus lifts it under Donkey Kongs chin.
SAMUS
Now if youll excuse meNot taking any crap, Donkey Kong grips the top of Samus
cannon and crunches it like foil.
Samus quickly kicks DK into the side of the bar and flips
backwards. Removing a small grenade from her utility belt,
Samus arms it and holds it out in her good hand.
SAMUS
You and your drinking buddies make
another move and your watering hole
is going to be a dry crater.
LINK
Were not here for drinks, we are
the ones depending on Mr. McCloud
and his particular skill set.
SAMUS
(Laughing)
Whatever youre paying him, its
too much.

LINK
There are innocent lives at stake.
No price is too high.
LUIGI
(To Mario)
As long as its not coming out of
our pockets, sure.
FOX
(To Link)
Its no use: shes not a joiner.
LINK
(To Samus and Fox)
Under my command, all are welcome
to fight, if they have the courage.
Captain Falcon slyly approaches Samus from behind and drapes
his arm around her shoulder.
CAPTAIN FALCON
Im sure you kick all kinds of ass
with those long legs ofWith her attention still on Link, Samus punches Captain
Falcon in the nuts.
SAMUS
Id love to help, but I have my
orders, and unfortunately youre
not on the list.
Throwing the grenade at the side wall, Samus marches toward
her newly formed exit dragging Kirby behind.
FOX
A company dog till the end. She
doesnt help people, her type only
does tricks for treats.
SAMUS
The real trick Fox, is if you
actually gave a shit. Not everyone
gives up when life gets too hard.
Those of us that actually care: we
keep fighting.
A large gust of wind grows in intensity as a SPACE SHIP
descends upon and hovers above the front lawn of the bar.

EXT. BAY FRONT INN (CONTINUOUS)

Mario jogs out to the front of the bar as Samus secures
Kirby in a side compartment: like a dog kennel.
MARIO
Please, we could use someone who
cares; someone who wants to do
whats right.
Samus hangs her head as she climbs up into the cockpit.
SAMUS
Im sorry, I really am, but I have
my orders.
Mario hangs his head as Samus ship takes off into the sky.
Luigi comes outside and puts an arm over his brother.
LUIGI
Come on brother. We did our best.
Clenching his fists, Mario shoves off his brother.
MARIO
No, not yet we havent.
Link approaches the Brothers Mario.
LINK
No, we can work with what we have.
(To all)
I know we all have our own
problems, but who among you is
willing to put them aside now to do
whats right?
Fox looks over to Link, then across to Donkey Kong and
Captain Falcon. They all walk out of the bar to join the
Forest Knight.
EXT. PORT TOWN STABLE (LATER)
Unhitching their Yoshis from their post, Mario and Luigi
look up to see Link ride out from the barn like Teddy
Roosevelt. The forest knight pulls back on the reins; his
horse rears up on its hind legs and lets out a wild neigh.
Next, out from the stables, Donkey Kong comes riding towards
the trio on top of his pet RHINO.
The great ape joins the others with a satisfied snort.
56.
INT. PORT TOWN STABLE (SAME)

Inside one of the vehicle stalls towards the front of the
Costco sized stable, Captain Falcon and Fox walk up to the
Hover Car. Falcon flips a switch on the wall beside the car
and a series of tubes retract from the craft back into the
floor.
CAPTAIN FALCON
There she is, all fueled up and
ready to fly: the Blue Falcon.
FOX
Are you one of those guys who
shoehorns their name into all their
stuff?
CAPTAIN FALCON
I dont know what youre talking
about.
EXT. PORT TOWN STABLE (LATER)
Peeling out of the stable entrance, Captain Falcon and Fox
riding shotgun, skid to a stop in front of the others.
Sliding open a side window, Captain Falcon leans his head
out of the vehicle.
CAPTAIN FALCON
So, I just need the coordinates of
where were going and well get
this army fighting underway.
LINK
We ride to Kokiri Forest together,
as a team.
CAPTAIN FALCON
Kareoke Forest, perfect. Lets
punch it!
Sliding back into the drivers seat, Captain Falcon hits the
ignition and speeds off down the boardwalk and out of sight.
Luigi looks at his brother with a raised eyebrow.
With a determined scowl, Link grabs the reigns.
LINK
Lets go.

EXT. HYRULE FIELD (AFTERNOON)
Speeding over the peaceful field, the Blue Falcon is a blur
leaving nothing but a cloud of dust in its wake as it
travels towards the forest.
Far in the distance, exiting the canyon, the four riders on
their respected mounts journey onward onto Hyrule Field.
EXT. HYRULE KINGDOM - KOKIRI FOREST (LATER)
Parked at the edge of the forest, Captain Falcons
hovercraft idles under a tree. The captain sits atop his
craft pulling arrows out from the side of the car.
Beside the craft, Fox aims his gun at a fruit hanging from
the tree. He squints his eye and his paw shakes as he takes
aim.
Pulling the trigger, the laser bolt sails past the fruit
only by a thin margin of error.
CAPTAIN FALCON
You got about as good of aim as
those archers back there. Who still
uses bows and arrows anyway?
FOX
Maybe I need a live target?
It looks like Fox is taking aim at Captain Falcon.
CAPTAIN FALCON
Whoa, easy there, hey!
Gently squeezing the trigger, the laser bolt flies past
Falcon, and hits a chicken out of the tree.
CAPTAIN FALCON
Come on, what was that?
FOX
Dinner.
Walking over to the fallen bird, Captain Falcon looks up as
DK, Link, and the Mario Brothers approach.
CAPTAIN FALCON
Its about time yall showed up.
You guys are aware that those
things only have one horse power
each, right? This baby on the other
hand-

FOX
(To Link)
Where to next?
LINK
There is a warp pipe that will take
us directly to the Mushroom
Kingdom.
Captain Falcon nods and climbs back into the cockpit of his
hovercraft.
LINK
Well have to go through the Lost
Woods first... on foot.
With a heavy sigh, Captain Falcon begrudgingly drags himself
out of the craft.
CAPTAIN FALCON
It figures you guys wouldnt have
roads up here.
FOX
Step up and lead on then, Captain.
Rolling his shoulders back, Link takes point, and the others
fall in line.
LINK
Youll need to know three things as
we journey into the woods.
LUIGI
You going to tell em about that
giant talking tree you got in
there?
LINK
Few ever find the Great Deku Tree,
fewer are allowed to leave his
presence alive.
LUIGI
I guess we were deemed worthy then.
LINK
Apparently.
MARIO
You have a map to get through this
place I assume?

Donkey Kong looks up to the tree tops as the leaves rustle:
something moves through the branches, watching them.
LINK
There is no map.
FOX
Theres always a map.
Fox lifts his forearm, and slides his fingers across a touch
screen computer; a holographic map of Hyrule projects itself
above Foxs arm.
LINK
The Lost Woods does exactly what
its name suggests. You will get
lost, and you will eventually be
alone.
Still zooming in, Fox eventually locates their current
position. Satisfied, he swaggers forward towards the woods.
Donkey Kong continues to scan the treetops. Mario looks up
at the apprehensive ape.
MARIO
We got through okay.
With a snort, DK looks down at Mario condescendingly and
walks after Link, and the others.
LINK
You will get through if you keep
walking forward, and you will be
changed.
Captain Falcon rolls his eyes and points his key chain at
the hover car. With a beep of the button, a translucent
force field covers the craft.
Link and the others continue to walk down a thin dirt path
into the canopy of trees. As the sunsets, and mist rises
from the earth, the six warriors disappear into the woods.
EXT. LOST WOODS (LATER)
Its nearly pitch black except for the lights from Foxs
wrist computer and Navis light. The sound of snapping twigs
and crunching leaves fill the air with an eerie other
worldly echo throughout the forest.
Walking single file, Link leads the way following Navis
light. Behind him, the Mario Brothers hold a wrench and
hammer respectively, ready to strike.

Fox continues to tap his computer screen, but its glitching

out and eventually shuts off.
FOX
Typical.
Captain Falcon is walking confidently with the visor on his
racing helmet down.
CAPTAIN FALCONS POV - His visor displays a type of
infrared. Adjusting a switch on the side of his helmet, the
ugly red outlines turn to clear shades of green night vision
illuminating the trees and warriors in front of him.
CAPTAIN FALCON
Awe man, your tech crap out on you
McCloud? Oh, thats too bad.
Fox grumbles and steps up the pace. Captain Falcon chuckles
to himself and takes a swig on his canteen.
CAPTAIN FALCON
How you holding up back there
Monkey Man?
(Turns to DK)
Whoa, the dark is not doing your
face any extra kindness Bud.
DK growls and shoves Captain Falcon forward.
CAPTAIN FALCON
Im just playing around with you;
youre beautiful for a big guy.
FOX
And when can we look forward to you
not playing around?
CAPTAIN FALCON
As soon as you get that steel rod
out of your ass, Fox.
MARIO
Alright thats enough back there.
LUIGI
Hey, nothing wrong with trying to
lighten up the mood in this creepy
place. Right, Elf?
Luigi looks from Mario to Link, but the Forest Knight has
vanished. Luigi grips his wrench tighter.

LUIGI
(To Mario)
What did I tell you? I told you
that kid was gonna pull one over on
us, right-- Mario?
Luigi looks behind him, but his brother and the others are
also gone.
LUIGI
Ha. Ha. Ha. Very funny, you guys
are hilarious.
There is a cackling laughter that seems to boom out from all
around Luigi. Trying to shake off his nerves, the plumber
jogs forward into the darkness.
Another round of laughter shakes Luigi, but in the distance,
a small light shines.
LUIGI
Mario?
Picking up the pace, the sound of crunching leaves is soon
replaced by the dry packing sounds of brick beneath the
plumbers feet.
About fifty yards in front of Luigi, a series of large
rusted pipes can be seen, at the end of which is Mario
frantically trying to turn a valve closed.
LUIGI
Mario, what are you doing?
Luigi stops short as he nearly runs off an endless cliff
before him. Forcing himself to fall backwards onto the
ground, Luigi takes another look across at the endless maze
of pipes; all differing in sizes mangled together like a
massive jungle gym mauled by a tornado.
EXT. LOST WOODS - ELSEWHERE (SAME)
Still walking forward guided by Navi, the fairy halts
abruptly.
Navis panicked face turns toward Link for reassurance.
LINK
Its okay, Navi. We just have to
keep moving forward.
Landing onto the Links shoulder, Navi holds on tight to his
cloak.

Not breaking his stride, Link takes in a deep breath as the

sounds of the forest floor become that of splashing through
puddles of water.
The puddles however seems to take over his path, his boots
stepping into a consistent pool of water only about a few
centimeters deep.
Still pushing forward, Link notices the dark woods gradually
lighting up with a ghostly glow. The light reveals that he
has somehow left the woods and entered and endless hallway,
lined with ornate tile, and white oak trees.
Drawing his sword, Link adjusts his eyes to the figure of a
YOUNG BOY (Dark Link) fifty yards in front of him. The Dark
Figure is nearly identical to Link in every way, drawing his
sword with the exact same military precision.
Fox comes to a halt, looking up from his computer screen.
The Pilot withdraws his sidearm.
His nose twitches. His ears stand on end.
His tail bristles.
Cautiously, the Pilot continues going forward step by step.
The laser scope on his pistol is the only light Fox has
while he scans the forest, from the brush to the tree tops.
Above the canopy, a gust of rushing winds shakes the trees.
The wind is so powerful in fact, the trees part like the Red
Sea revealing a cloudless star filled sky.
Looking up to the sky, Fox watches an intense dogfight play
out before him; spacecraft against spacecraft raging and
performing incredible aerial maneuvers.
Covering his ear, the Pilot can hear the radio chatter play
out in his head.
FAY (V.O. / FILTERED)
Ive lost my aft thruster, Im
going down-- downMIYU (V.O. / FILTERED)
Theres too many of them.
PEPPY
Take care of the guy behind me Fox!
63.
Fox falls to his knees; the ground which was once dirt is
now a hard synthetic floor.
FOX
Im sorry. Im so sorry.
Captain Falcon is running through the dark forest.
CAPTAIN FALCON
If you guys think you can out run
me, yall got another thing coming.
CAPTAIN FALCONS P.O.V. - Through the helmet visor, it
appears that Captain Falcon is continually increasing his
speed to near super human levels as the trees fly past fast
and faster.
The tall trees flying past Falcon are eventually replaced by
tall buildings. Captain Falcon doesnt notice the change,
but he does notice several hover cars zoom dangerously close
by him.
ANNOUNCER (V.O.)
And Pico in the Wild Goose followed
by Dr. Stewart over take Captain
Falcon as we approach the final
lap.
Captain Falcon looks about to find himself in the cockpit of
the Blue Falcon racing across the track behind TWO OTHER
RACERS.
ANNOUNCER (V.O.)
The reigning champ is going to have
to get back in their if he wants to
hold on to the F-Zero Title.
Up ahead, on an increasingly narrow track, a GREEN
HOVERCRAFT violently slams into the side of the YELLOW
HOVERCRAFT. The bump from the Green craft sends the Yellow
car sailing across and off the track; plummeting hundreds of
meters down to the earth below.
ANNOUNCER (V.O.)
Down goes Stewart! Down goes
Stewart! Its all on Captain Falcon
now folks!
Gripping the control stick tighter with his left hand,
Falcon throttles up the accelerator with the right.
64.

Donkey Kong continues to march along on all fours scanning
the tree line from side to side.
Soon, the sparse moonlight reveals shadowy CREATURES
(Kremlings) like crocodiles wearing military garb walking on
their hind legs flanking DK on either side.
The great Ape increases his pace as more Kremlings pass by
him; some carrying other jungle animals over their
shoulders, bound and tied.
KING K. ROOL (V.O.)
Get every last one of them!
From every tree the frightened CHITTERING of apes and
monkeys can be heard, as well as their CRIES and SCREAMS.
Donkey Kong runs faster as the jungle behind begins to burn,
one tree at a time.
INTER CUT BETWEEN - MARIO & LUIGI / LINK / FOX / FALCON / DK
THE BROTHERS - Within the jungle of iron pipes, Luigi
struggles to get to his brother Mario; always a few yards
ahead of him and always moving forward.
LUIGI
Would you wait up you block head!
Mario, with sweat dripping from his brow has climbed to the
side of a large pipe. Peering inside, Mario sees glowing
eyes approaching from deep within the dark pipe.
MARIO
Theyre coming.
With his wrench, the older plumber quickly closes the valve
beside the pipe before moving on to the next.
LUIGI
How about you focus on the what
rather than the who, like what the
heck is goin on here?
MARIO
Theyre coming. Cant let them
through. I cant let em through. I
wont.
Luigi is gaining on his brother. The younger brother risks
taking a look down one of the larger pipes.
65.
Glowing eyes stalk forward out of the darkness.

LINK - Engaged in a fierce battle of blades, the Forest
Knight fights his Dark Doppelganger.
As evenly matched as they are, Link is showing signs of
exhaustion from the sweat on his brow, to his shortness of
breath.
DARK LINK
Theyll never follow you.
Link retains his resolve, swinging high and fast.
DARK LINK
Youve only ever fought yourself
before, and youve never won.
Locking blades, Link stares into the black empty void of his
opponents face.
DARK LINK
Youll never win.
Dark Link kicks the Forest Knight to the ground and
disappears into the shadows.
DARK LINK (O.S.)
Youll never win.
FOX - Gazing in horror outside the window beside him, the
Pilot witnesses two of the three spacecraft explode in a
hail of laser fire from enemy crafts.
Looking away, Fox can see the blinking panel beside him
which reads "DEPLOY" with an arrow pointing down the long
hall before him.
R.O.B. (V.O.)
All available Arwing pilots, report
to hanger. All pilots to hanger.
Fox looks down at his hands, theyre shaking bad.
His eyes are blood shot.
JAMES MCCLOUD (V.O)
Son, we need you out in the
battlefield, now!
Fox turns again to the window, another aircraft with the Fox
Emblem swoops by pursued by another enemy craft.
66.
FOX
Dad?
FALCON - Still behind the Green Car, Falcon aggressively
tries to get around his opponent.
ANNOUNCER (V.O.)
Falcon is going to have to make a
move if he wants to win this race.
Sweat from his brow falls into his eyes. He blinks as the
salt burns his pupils.
He grips the joystick tighter.
Both hover crafts scream down the track towards an
impossibly high ramp.
The track width shortens to one lane: no room for error.
Inside his helmet, the Captains breath quickens.
DK - Still running through the jungle, the ape looks to his
left and right in a panic: his brethren apes are caged.
Kremlings continue to march behind DK. They chop through
jungle growth with their machetes and torch the trees.
KING K. ROOL (V.O.)
Come on you grunts, we got monkeys
to sell and money to earn.
THE BROTHERS - Luigi is only a few pipes behind Mario. As
the younger brother climbs after the elder, dozens of PIG
SIZED FLIES and CRABS begin breaking through the pipes
behind them.
LUIGI
Alright brother, its time to leave
this crazy fever dream and wake up!
Mario still works at the pipes as creatures bang on the iron
from the other end.
MARIO
I have to stop them.
Finally within arms length, Luigi grabs a hold of Marios
sleeve.
LUIGI
Theres too many to stop, we have
to save ourselves, oh, and this is
all probably not real.
67.
Mario whips around, facing his brother with a truly

distressed and disconsolate expression; almost in tears.
MARIO
No. I have to do this.
Returning to his work, Mario continues to twist the valve
with dissipating strength.
MARIO
Im the only who will-- the only
one.
Luigi looks back at the ever growing number of hellish
creatures marching out from the pipes, then back to his
brother.
LINK - With Navi circling his head, Link is back on his feet
with his sword at the ready.
DARK LINK (O.S.)
You would be the one to fail not
just their kingdom, but yours as
well.
Jumping out from the shadows Dark Link strikes his sword
down against foe, but Link raises his blade just in time.
The two combatants continue to fight; Dark Link clearly has
the upper hand.
With their blades again locked, Dark Link continues to apply
pressure. The Forest Knight is nearly down on his knee
holding his blade up against his double.
DARK LINK
You will be broken before youve
even begun.
With a quick strike, Dark Link shatters Links sword.
FOX - Still on the floor, Fox watches as only his fathers
aircraft remains out matched four to one. Enemy aircraft
blasts shake the hallway hes in.
JAMES MCCLOUD (V.O)
McCloud to Great Fox, prepare for
warp jump to Cornaria: save as many
as you can.
FOX
No.
68.
James aircraft is struck, and sparks fly as it manages to
dodge incoming fire.
JAMES MCCLOUD (V.O)
Rob, get the ship out of here, now!
Fox stands up on his metallic feet.
FOX
No, not again.
The "DEPLOY" warning light continues to blink.
Step by step, Fox increases his gate.
FOX
Dad, hold on.
FALCON - The distance has grown between the Captain and the
Green hovercraft.
ANNOUNCER (V.O.)
Hes falling back, Captain Falcon
is dropping back.
With his heart POUNDING, Captain Falcon looks down at the
accelerator and then up at the ramp.
ANNOUNCER (V.O.)
Hell never make it if he-- Wait!
Jamming the throttle up, and pulling back on the yoke,
Falcon speeds up the ramp lightening fast. Nearly hitting
the bumper of the Green car, Falcon instead is launched off
of the ramp, hurling through the air.
Watching the space in front of him, Captain Falcons eyes
cease to blink. His breath begins to steady as he floats
through the air.
DK - Struggling with the ropes that the Kremlings have bound
him with, Donkey Kong still stands. Using all his strength
the ape pulls against his captors, but its nearly too much.
KING K. ROOL (V.O.)
Get him down and get the rest of
the cargo loaded. We dont have all
night.
Straining, DK looks to his left. Lined up upon the shore
line on the jungles edge are dozens of wooden barrels.
From within the barrels the sounds of frightened and wounded
apes can be heard howling.
69.
The Great Apes eyes narrow, and a snort escapes his

nostrils. Grabbing the ropes with his hands, Donkey Kong
ceases to fight against the ropes. Instead, the four hundred
pound gorilla charges his enemies.
Taken off guard, the Kremlings dont have time react as they
are grabbed by their snouts, their throats, and their tails
and beaten mercilessly.
KING K. ROOL (V.O.)
Get that one under control!
With his immediate resistance down for the count, DK turns
his attention to a wooden galleon ahead.
Standing on the deck, the shadowy outline of a rotund
crocodile with a crown (King K. Rool) points in Donkey
Kongs direction.
KING K. ROOL
Get my property under control.
With his knuckles digging into the sand, DK charges towards
the galleon; teeth barred and eyes on fire.
THE BROTHERS - Mario is still frantically closing valves and
tightening bolts, as the Koopas continue to breakthrough.
With the hatch nearly closed, Mario strains against the
valve when suddenly the Koopa soldiers break through.
Mario falls back, slipping off a pipe. Nearly falling to his
doom, Luigi grabs the back of his brothers coveralls.
LUIGI
Youre not doing this alone.
Mario looks up. At the sight of his brother, the elder
plumber shakes off his hopeless scowl and climbs upon a
nearby pipe.
MARIO
Lets take care of this mess.
Luigi glances around at the sewer overrun by Koopas and with
resolve stands with his wrench.
LINK - Deflecting wild attacks with his shield, Link braces
against blow after blow. Sparks fly as steel strikes against
steel.
DARK LINK
You are unworthy. You are no hero.
70.
With a determined growl, Link bashes the shield against his
foe.
Knocked down on his back, Dark Link quickly gets to his feet
but not before Link pulls out his grapple gun and pulls
himself up into the trees above.
Standing at the ready, Dark Link is struck in the hand by a
boomerang; the blow causes him to drop his sword.
As the sword falls to the ground, so does Link fall from the
trees armed with Marios hammer.
FOX - Continues running down the hall full tilt. The docking
bay doors only a few meters away.
JAMES MCCLOUD (V.O)
Rob, Im not going to last, you
needFox screams as he hears the static cut over his fathers
last words. Hes nearly at the doors at the end of the hall.
DK - Reaching the edge of where the ocean meets the sand,
Donkey Kong jumps into the air. His mad gaze fixed upon the
fat crocodile upon the ship.
His growl shakes the water. His paws are soaked in blood.
The ape leaps through the air over the ocean as the jungle
burns behind him.
THE BROTHERS - Bashing in the shells of their enemies, Mario
and Luigi plow through the maze of pipes. They continue to
pick up the pace.
Both of them charge into a large open pipe knocking out
turtle after turtle as they make their way to the light at
the end of the tunnel.
LINK - Standing over his doppelganger, The Forest Knight
watches as his foe disintegrates into the ground.
Looking across from him, resting in a glade, sunlight
pierces through the dark forest canopy illuminating a sword
sheathed in a stone.
Walking from his broken sword, Link stands upon the stone
pedestal. With two hands on the hilt, the Young Knight
withdraws a masterfully crafted sword.
FOX - Jumping into the cockpit of the fighter jet, Fox
quickly buckles up and starts the engines as the hanger
begins to catch fire.
71.
Punching the controls, the cockpit slams shut, and the

aircraft speeds out of the hanger.
FALCON - Falling from the sky, the Blue Falcon slams onto
the track.
Now neck and neck with the green hover car, Captain Falcon
pushes the throttle up to eleven.
ANNOUNCER (V.O.)
Unbelievable, its going to be
close, but Captain Falcon might
pull through!
DK - Standing on the deck with one foot up on a felled
Crocodile King, Donkey Kong beats his chest and roars.
The other apes and chimps lining the shore roar back at
their new king of the jungle.
EXT. LOST WOODS - WARP PIPE MEADOW (DAWN)
Beating their way out of a hedge, the Brothers Mario
stumble into the open meadow. Breathing heavily, Luigi
collapses beside Mario.
LUIGI
That-- that was exhausting.
Offering his brother a hand up, Mario looks down to Luigi
with a satisfied smile.
MARIO
But we pushed through it.
Luigi nods and accepts the hand up to get back on his feet.
LUIGI
What about the others?
With an audible SLICE of steel against wood, an entire
section of trees falls: Link stepping out from the cleared
timber with the master sword in hand.
Behind Link, Fox and Captain Falcon step out from the brush.
Donkey Kong comes swinging out from the tree tops and lands
beside the gathered warriors.
Link stands in front of the group, with Navi trailing after
him.

LINK
Whatever you experienced in those
woods, youve come out through the
other end. Youve chosen to put the
past behind you to protect the
future of others. Together, we will
fight; we will fight against those
that wish to oppress the future of
free peoples.
Drawing a line in the dirt with his sword, Link looks back
up at the group.
LINK
Youve crossed the line with how
far youll go to overcome your own
demons. Cross this line, with me,
fight against the demons that seek
to plague this world and others.
There is a moment of silence from the group before Captain
Falcon opens his mouth.
CAPTAIN FALCON
I dont know about you two, but I
feel amazing.
Stepping over the line, Captain Falcon gives a forceful high
five to Luigi.
CAPTAIN FALCON
(Cocky as hell)
Lets get this army fightin
business underway, yeah?
Donkey Kong beats his chest stepping over the line. Turning
back to the woods, the Ape whistles. Moments later, charging
through the trees, Donkey Kongs rhino heels beside his
master.
The Yoshis too, appear out of the woods.
LUIGI
Well that was handy.
(To his Yoshi)
Hey boy, did you have a crazy dream
quest too?
Looking up to Luigi, the vocalization of a Yoshi sounds like
a record being scratched back and forth. What he really
says-

YOSHI
(Subtitled)
Ive looked in the eyes of fear
itself, I will be scarred till the
end of my days.
Luigi doesnt speak Yoshi as he pets him with indifference.
LUIGI
Thats a good Yoshi: yes you are.
Finally, Fox steps over the line.
FOX
(To Link)
Im ready for a new challenge.
Link and Fox shake hands.
INT. SPACE - BOWSERS BATTLESHIP (LATER)
Within the control deck, Bowser and his crew brace for the
upcoming battle.
AIR BOSS
One hour until arrival. Lord
Bowser.
BOWSER
I want sufficient distance between
our fleet and that castle. If
theyve weaponized the power star,
I will not risk my forces for their
folly.
AIR BOSS
Aye, aye. Helmsmen, change course
to the following heading.
EXT. MUSHROOM KINGDOM - TOWN SQUARE (LATER)
The once busy crowded streets are now vacant as the six
warriors make their way through the town.
FOX
Looks like theyve got everyone
evacuated.
LUIGI
I was kind of hoping that place
with the good noodles was still
open.

MARIO
Mentsu-Dans?
LUIGI
Or that pork place, Katsukura.
MARIO
The pork place?
FALCON
Yeah, about that, are we getting
food before this or...
Captain Falcon looses his train of thought as a great
BOOMING sound erupts in the distance.
LINK
Mario brothers, lead on to the
castle. Hurry.
INT. MUSHROOM CASTLE - OBSERVATORY (SAME)
Looking out behind a pair of binoculars over the Northern
Hylian sea, Princess Peach wears a distressed countenance.
BINOCULAR P.O.V. - Bowsers galleons begin to emerge from a
large rainbow colored wormhole opening up over the waters.
Lowering the binoculars, Princess Peach lets out a huff.
PRINCESS PEACH
There are days were I really just
dont want to wake up.
TOAD #1 (O.S.)
Excuse me, your majesty.
Turning around, Princess Peach faces one of her mushroom
citizens (TOAD #1). She doesnt reply, only raises an
eyebrow.
TOAD #1
Were ready to insert the power
star into the device.
PRINCESS PEACH
Proceed. Quickly, but VERY
carefully.
The underling salutes and scuttles off. As she watches her
minion exit, the phone on her switchboard RINGS. Grabbing
her headset, the Princess barks into the microphone.

PRINCESS PEACH
Wait, whos at the gate?
(Sighs)
Fine, whatever, send the em up.
EXT. MUSHROOM CASTLE - FRONT GATES (SAME)
Another nearly identical mushroom person (TOAD #2) opens the
fence for the crew of six; he shakes under the looming
shadow of Donkey Kong.
TOAD #2
Alright, youre clear to go up.
PRINCESS PEACH (V.O.)
So, this is everyone is it?
INT. MUSHROOM CASTLE - MAIN FOYER (SAME)
Princess Peach marches down the line of assembled heroes
unimpressed.
PRINCESS PEACH
Weve got two plumbers, an elf, two
pilots without aircraft, and an ape
in a stylish necktie.
Navi walks out onto Links shoulder and stomps her foot.
PRINCESS PEACH
And a fairy.
(To Mario)
Seven. This is the army?
LINK
Princess, we are fully capable of
defending this kingdom.
PRINCESS PEACH
You people against an actual army?
What was your plan exactly?
LINK
Were going to infiltrate the lead
ship, take them out from the
inside, and capture or kill their
commander.
Princess Peach raises an eyebrow, taken aback by Links
response and looks him up and down once more. She walks back
up the stairs towards the second floor landing.

PRINCESS PEACH
And you seven are committed to
protecting this kingdom, why?
MARIO
Its the right thing to do.
At the top of the staircase, Peach looks out one of the bay
windows on the wall above the front door.
OUTSIDE - The legion of galleons can be seen approaching
over the waters in the distance.
Lowering the binoculars from her eyes and looking back down
at the assembled Ronin, Peach clenches her teeth in
apprehension.
PRINCESS PEACH
You all believe this is the right
thing to do?
LINK
Yes.
PRINCESS PEACH
You all are willing to die for this
kingdom?
FOX
Yes.
PRINCESS PEACH
All of you?
Luigi looks down at his feet.
LUIGI
Yes.
Donkey Kong beats his chest and howls in confirmation.
PRINCESS PEACH
Fabulous.
Peach spins around and talks down to the Mushroom Person
beside her.
PRINCESS PEACH
Lock on to coordinates barring 35
north, 136 east angled at 43
degrees Z.
The Mushroom servant bows and runs out of the room.

PRINCESS PEACH
(To the Seven)
I wish you all the very best of
luck. I am most certain you will
need it.
Exchanging glances among themselves, the assembled heroes
try and take a step backwards as a great mechanical WHIRRING
SOUND grows from underneath them.
The painted sun on the floor beneath their feet grows
brighter and brighter. A pillar of light begins to engulf
the heroes.
Fox, in a panic, opens up the computer on his forearm and
presses a bright red button with "Emergency" written on the
side.
Still up on the balcony, the Princes has put welding goggles
on over her face as she watches the light grow brighter and
brighter.
PRINCESS PEACH
Oh, by the way, you may experience
some peculiar side effects once
youve arrived at your destination.
The light suddenly dissipates; the heroes are gone.
Underneath the painted tile on the floor however, there is
an elaborate mechanical device; wires flow through the
castle walls, into the observatory at the top of the central
spire. Within the spire of course is the Princess Telescope.
At the end of the telescope fastened to circuit boards and
wires is a glowing GOLDEN STAR with two black eyes.
The star grows brighter and brighter until a beam of rainbow
light shoots out towards the ships across the sea.
EXT. NORTHERN HYLIAN SEA (SAME)
The rainbow light races over the blue waters.
On the monitor before him, Bowser spots the incoming ray of
light, stands from his chair, and growls his commandBOWSER
Take evasive action!

AIR BOSS
All ships, hard to port, evasive
maneuvers!
Alarms are sounded and red flashing lights illuminate the
cabin as it lists to the left.
EXT. NORTHERN HYLIAN SEA - BOWSERS BATTLESHIP (SAME)
The eight wooden galleons all pitch to the side to avoid the
beam of rainbow light.
Unfortunately, the beam manages to hit the crystal bow
mantle of the lead ship; in doing so, six separate beams
split apart from the first, five of which land on the deck
of a separate ship.
Bowser watches the various monitors in the midst of the
chaos of the command deck.
BOWSER
Damage report.
AIR BOSS
No casualties commander, but ships
two through six are reporting...
sir, they say theyve been boarded.
EXT. BRIDGE DECK - BOWSERS BATTLESHIP (MOMENTS LATER)
Throwing open the door to the deck, Bowser stomps over to
the railing and raises a telescope to his eye.
TELESCOPE P.O.V. - On the deck of the ship off Bowsers
Starboard bow, what appear to be TWO MEN (Mario and Luigi)
made of pulsating rainbow light stand upon the main deck.
Lowering the telescope, Bowser turns to the Air Boss and
shrugs his shoulders.
EXT. BATTLESHIP TWO (SAME)
Leaning over the railing of the Bridge Deck, a KOOPA (Ludwig
Von Koopa, 40) with a wig ripped from the sixteenth century
and an outrageously offensive German accent screams to his
soldiersLUDWIG VON KOOPA
Open fire on ze intruders, shnell!
Koopas manning deck guns train their arms on the Mario
Brothers and open fire.

Engulfed in cannon fire and an accompanying cloud of smoke,

the Mario Brothers are completely obscured from sight.
Ludwig grins, but his smile quickly fades.
The rainbow light subsides, and the Brothers Mario remain
standing.
MARIO
Some side effects, huh?
Examining himself, Luigi looks up at his brother
incredulously.
LUIGI
Whatever just happened to us, it
also washed and pressed my uniform.
MARIO
Yeah, that, AND were bulletproof.
LUDWIG VON KOOPA
We shall put holes in you yet,
Miststck.
Before Ludwig can shout another order, a monkey wrench is
thrown right in his face.
Running from the hail of gun and cannon fire, both Mario and
Luigi dive into an air vent for a temporary escape.
EXT. BATTLESHIP THREE (SAME)
On the highest crows nest, Link has drawn out his bow and
arrow; picking off Koopa Soldiers climbing the mast to reach
him.
Navi circles around Links head and lands on her companions
shoulder to whisper in his ear.
Link looks over his shoulder as a squad of Winged Koopa fly
towards him.
Reaching for another arrow, Links hand comes across and
empty quiver. Quickly, he hurdles over the wall of the crows
nest and while falling uses his bow to zip line down the
main mast rope to the main deck.
Somersaulting onto the deck, Link draws his sword and
quickly fends off Koopa soldiers armed with war hammers.
Soldiers are slain left and right as he moves his way up to
the Command Deck.

Watching from the command deck is another Koopa Captain:

LARRY KOOPA
Clear the deck; this ones mine.
Withdrawing a scepter from his belt, Larry aims at Link and
unleashes a speeding fireball at the Forest Knight.
Link blocks the oncoming fireball with his shield, but more
flaming missiles continue to bombard him. The knight is
forced to take cover.
EXT. BATTLESHIP FOUR (SAME)
As if he were pulled straight from a western, Fox walks
forward with a menacing stride; his laser pistol laying
waste to Koopa after Koopa.
On the side of the gun, a LED indicator shows Low
Ammunition.
Just as FOxs gun clicks empty, the last of the Koopas runs
full bore towards the pilot. Quickly spinning the pistol
around in his hand, Fox strikes the side of the Koopas
temple with the hilt.
The last of the Koopas on the ship falls down at Foxs
feet.
FOX
You have anyone else on this ship
you want to send out for me to beat
down, or is this you trying your
best?
Kicking open the hatch of the Command Deck, a Koopa Twice
the height and girth of the others jumps over the rails and
onto the deck. MORTON KOOPA is armed with a gargantuan steel
hammer and a really big mouthMORTON KOOPA
We dont need to give you our best,
just a single swing of hammer-maybe a few swings after that just
for fun.
Fox and Morton stare down each other from across the deck.
Morton grips his hammer tighter.
Fox holsters his gun, and cracks his knuckles.
81.
At once, both opponents rush towards each other. Fox ducks

under the swing of Mortons hammer, landing a hay maker to
the Koopas face.
The hit is ineffective and Morton strikes back with a right
cross sending Fox across the deck.
Back on his feet, Fox wipes the blood from his mouth and
rushes back into the fray.
EXT. BATTLESHIP FIVE (SAME)
Lying across the deck are scores of beaten Koopas, most of
which have piled up and around the hole leading down to the
cargo hold.
INT. BATTLESHIP FIVE - CARGO HOLD (SAME)
In the center of a dwindling circle of Koopas, Donkey Kong
uses his massive strength and size to massacre the remaining
foot soldiers.
After slamming a nearby turtle soldier into the deck and
then throwing him up and out of the cargo hold like a rag
doll, the other Koopas flee.
Satisfied, DK rolls back on his haunches and beats his
chest. When he leans forward however, the great ape notices
a grenade rolling towards his feet.
Quickly, DK bats the grenade away; it goes sailing against
the wall and explodes upon impact.
Donkey Kong spots another smaller Koopa (LEMMY KOOPA, 12) on
the far side of the room. Lemmy is significantly dwarfed by
DK, but hes armed with two grenade belts strapped to his
sides.
Rushing in to pummel his next foe, DK is met with another
grenade thrown by Lemmy. Donkey Kong hits the grenade aside,
but Lemmy keeps the explosives rolling his way.
With his small size, Lemmy is quick as shit; like a gazelle
out maneuver a rhino. Soon, Donkey Kong is forced to play
defense and avoid the on coming explosives.
One grenade rolls dangerously close to Donkey Kong; the
explosion is near enough to knock the ape off his feet.
82.
EXT. BATTLESHIP SIX (SAME)

Captain Falcon is dodging incoming rocket fire from ROY
KOOPA; an officer wearing dark sunglasses, and a pink
bandanna around his head.
Diving behind a gun turret, Captain Falcon roundhouse kicks
one of the Koopas manning the gun, and shoots a second with
his pistol. He takes a moment to lean up against his cover
as another rocket blast explodes behind him.
Roy lets out a sigh and lowers his bazooka.
ROY KOOPA
You know, it occurs to me that you
seem like someone whos kept out of
the loop.
From behind his cover, Captain Falcon shouts backCAPTAIN FALCON
I might not keep up with todays
fashion trends like you pal, but I
know what I need to know.
Captain squeezes off a few blind rounds of blaster fire.
ROY KOOPA
In that case, you need to know that
in just a few minutes, our armada
will be at the shores of your
kingdom with more soldiers than you
can possibly hope to combat.
Exchanging sword strikes against Larrys fire spewing
scepter, Link finally kicks the Koopa square in his chest
knocking him over on his back.
Larry is winded, loosening the grip on his wand and throwing
it up into the air. Before Larry can inhale, Link slays him
with the Master Sword.
ROY KOOPA (V.O.)
Every one of us you manage to
strike down, more will follow
after.
As the Fire Wand falls back downward, Link catches it with
one hand above his head. His satisfaction is quickly wiped
away as he looks at the sight above him.

High above the ship, scores of winged Koopas fly in
formation.
ROY KOOPA (V.O.)
We will overwhelm you with our
numbers; blanket your skies with
our ranks.
Fox is getting himself beat pretty bad, but hes still in
the fight against a disarmed Morton.
EXT. BATTLESHIP FIVE (SAME)
Donkey Kong is growing exhausted running from a seemingly
endless barrage of grenades.
ROY KOOPA (V.O.)
You cannot hope to endure our
might.
EXT. BATTLESHIP SIX (SAME)
Roy Koopa reloads his rocket launcher and shoulders the
weapon. He aims the barrel at Captain Falcons last hiding
spot.
ROY KOOPA
We will do whatever it takes to
save this universe andRoy is sucker punched by Falcon right in his face.
Standing over a fallen Roy, Captain Falcon massages his
hand.
CAPTAIN FALCON
I dont know how much more of your
yapping your little turtle friends
can endure, but Ive about had my
fill.
Roy aims the rocket launcher at Falcon and fires; the
Captain narrowly missing the rocket.
With Roy back on his feet, both he and the Captain exchange
punches. The Koopa, only slightly larger than his brethren
is able to get underneath Falcons offense and deliver power
jabs right to the rib cage.
Falcon backs up, going on the defensive.
84.
Roy makes an aggressive push forward knocking Falcon back
over the rail of the command deck.
Landing on his feet, Falcon is barely able to put up his
guard as Roy jumps down after him.
Captain Falcon lands two flaming fast roundhouse kicks into
Roy with only mild effect. Roy powers forward sending an
uppercut right into Falcons gut, and pushing him back over
the edge of the main deck railing.
Catching the edge of the deck with one gloved hand, Captain
Falcon looks down at the churning ocean water below. Looking
up, Captain Falcon hides his agony as Roy grinds his heel
into his opponents hand.
CAPTAIN FALCON
Let me level with you, Id rather
you just send me over the edge
instead of talking at me to death.
ROY KOOPA
Id like to say youd be remembered
for your bravery, but not even a
whisper of your name shall remain.
Roy looks down at a disheartened Captain Falcon and releases
his clawed foot. Captain Falcon falls towards the waters
below.
INT. BATTLESHIP TWO - BOILER ROOM (SAME)
Running over steel grated flooring through a narrow
corridor, the Mario Brothers push their way through a steel
door at the end of the hall.
Stopping at the edge of a steel platform, Mario and Luigi
look over a massive engine room.
MARIO
Here we are.
LUIGI
Personally, I think Im coming to
terms about not being cut out for
this warrior business-Luigi takes out a long wrench from his tool belt and smilesLUIGI
--But Im thinking some people are
really not going to appreciate my
work today, and I am a hundred
percent okay with that.
85.
Mario smiles and throws an arm over his brothers shoulder.

MARIO
Lets go make some adjustments.
Link is running towards the bow of the ship across the main
deck. Looking ahead, he can see that the ships are only a
few miles away from shore.
Jumping up on the railing, Link unholsters his Grappling
Hook and aims at the side of the lead ship as he leaps off
the deck.
EXT. BOWSERS BATTLESHIP (SAME)
The hook of Links grapple pierces the ceramic wooden side
of the ship, and at the end of the metal chain Link begins
his ascent up the side of the galleon.
Cruising in a diamond formation, the eight ships continue to
advance towards the Mushroom Kingdom. On the deck of the
lead galleon, Link successfully boards Bowsers battleship.
Just as the knight steps aboard however, the second
battleship (closest to the starboard bow) turns abruptly and
crashes into Bowsers ship.
Despite loosing his balance, Link continues to slash his way
through the Koopa soldiers.
EXT. BATTLESHIP TWO (SAME)
Climbing out from one of the rear ventilation pipes, Mario
and Luigi run to the side of the port side of the ship.
Explosions erupt across various sections of the deck behind
the brothers as they make their way over to the rail.
While the two battleships are still grinding up against each
other, Mario and Luigi make a jump for it and board the lead
battleship.

Fox is lying on his back and panting as a badly beaten
Morton stands over him. As Morton lifts his hammer to
deliver the final blow he looks down at Fox and laughsMORTON KOOPA
We are many. We strong. We can not
be beat.
FOX
Wasnt trying to beat you just yet;
just stalling.
INT. BOWSERS BATTLESHIP (SAME)
Taking the cigar from his mouth, the Air Boss swivels around
in his chair and screamsAIR BOSS
Sir, we have a large contact aboveconfirmed, multiple contacts
breaching the atmosphere above us.
Breaking through from the stratosphere above Bowsers flying
fortress, a massive white star cruiser (THE GREAT FOX)
settles above the Mushroom Kingdom; the massive cannons on
its bow aimed down at Bowers fleet.
Three smaller aircraft are launched from the forward bay
doors soaring down towards the action.
With Mortons eyes on the sky, Fox uses his metal prosthetic
feet to kick Mortons knee caps in.
The Koopa howls in pain and collapses under the weight of
his own hammer and newly realigned joints.
Fox stands to his feet as he watches two Arwings fly by,
shooting squads of flying Koopas out of the sky.
Bowser stands from his chair and crosses the command center
to the forward bay window.
BOWSER
Order all of red squadron and
Wendys ship to defensive position
87.
BOWSER
Beta, and send green and blue
squadrons to the castle; nothing is
coming between us and the power
star.
Starring out the window, Bowser watches Mario, Luigi, and
Link fight off his foot soldiers on the deck.
BOWSER
I will settle this minor
inconvenience before us myself.
Despite the Second Battleship nose down in the ocean, the
other galleons continue flying towards the shore.
Still resting in the stratosphere above, The Great Fox
command ship fires two massive laser bolts down to the ships
below. The first bolt cuts right through the third
battleship, and the second hits the ocean just off the bow
of Bowsers ship.
The last battleship sails above the others, with dozens of
red shelled Koopas taking off from its deck.
EXT. WENDYS BATTLESHIP
Rising above the rest of the fleet, the battleship furthest
from the rest hovers over the others.
Stepping out on to the command deck, a LADY KOOPA (Wendy O.
Koopa, 29) with a bright pink Mohawk points her shining gold
scepter to the sky.
Two more laser bolts zip down through the sky from Great
Fox, but strike down upon a golden force field instead of
hitting Bowsers galleons.
The Mario Brothers are busy brawling Koopas. Mario wields a
reclaimed flame thrower, and Luigi has a war hammer. They
battle through enemy foot soldiers eventually moving closer
to Link.
With sword still drawn, Link slashes through his foes like a
boss. As he finishes off another hammer-wielding-turtle he
calls out to his loyal Fairy-

LINK
Navi, find Mr. McCloud and tell him
to get airborne; take out those
enemy fliers before they get to
civilians.
Navi gives Link a salute, then jets off to find Fox.
MARIO
(To Luigi)
How you holding up, Bro?
LUIGI
I could keep this up all day.
BOWSER (O.S.)
No, you will not.
Jumping down from the command deck, Bowser lands on the deck
with enough force to knock all the Koopas, Link, and the
Mario Brothers off balance.
BOWSER
This nonsense ends here, and now.
Standing to his feet, Luigi dusts himself off.
LUIGI
Wed be more than happy to accept
your surrender.
Mario stands, throwing off the empty flame thrower and
picking up a war hammer.
MARIO
You tell your men to turn these
ships around, and you can save
yourself a lot pain.
LINK
You have no claim to these peoples
freedom. This kingdom is under our
protection.
Bowser begins to laugh a deep, guttural laugh.
BOWSER
My authority spans across this
universe and all others, and your
pathetic attempts of protecting
this kingdom is only further
endangering its inhabitants from
annihilation.

The Mario Brothers and Link exchange glances with one other.
FLASH BACK:
EXT. DUSTY DUNE PLANET - DAY
On a barren sand covered planet, only empty craters remain
where lakes and rivers once flowed. Blinding white sand is
all the eye can see with the exception of one lone stone
castle complex.
ON SCREEN - "Years ago..."
BOWSER (V.O.)
My world had nearly reached its
end.
Streaking through the sky, a bright light buries itself in a
sand dune beside the castle with a grand explosion.
BOWSER (V.O.)
It appeared that we had been
allotted one last chance of
survival.
EXT. SAND DUNE - DAY
Emerging from the recently made crater, Bowser; followed by
his minions walks down the embankment to find a glowing
power star.
BOWSER (V.O.)
It appeared as if the fates had
looked kindly down upon us.
INT. BOWSERS CASTLE - REACTOR ROOM - DAY
Within a large steel lined room, machinery of all shapes and
sizes are being rapidly constructed. Bowser marches down the
line inspecting the various machines being led by other
Koopas.
BOWSER (V.O.)
Wed finally have the power-unlimited power; enough to take us
far from our poverty, and despair.
The largest of the machines at the center of the room
contains the power star housed in a furnace like case.
BOWSER (V.O.)
We were deceived.
90.
EXT. BOWSERS CASTLE - NIGHT

A multitude of Koopas cheer in the courtyard looking up to
their king; with Bowser in turn looking down at his subjects
from a balcony protruding from the main keep.
BOWSER (V.O.)
Be it the fates or some other cruel
entity looking down on us, the
power star was not meant as a new
beginning. It was our end.
Bowser flips the switch of the handheld device hes holding.
INT. BOWSERS CASTLE - REACTOR ROOM - SAME
Within its furnace, the power star glows brighter, and
brighter, and brighter still untilEXT. BOWSERS CASTLE - SAME
A blinding light shines out from the castle, followed
shortly after by a massive explosion.
EXT. DUSTY DUNE PLANET - LATER
Dozens of ships embark on an exodus away from the planet.
Upon the planets surface, fissures snake their way across
the continents; the sandy earth begins to crack open.
BOWSER (V.O.)
That star had shattered our planet,
but it would not shatter our will.
We would not rest till all the
stars that remained were found and
destroyed-- we will never rest.
RETURN TO PRESENT:
High in the skies the Great Fox fires another volley of
lasers down to the battleships. Further down, a trio of
Arwings fend off squads of flying Koopas; keeping them from
reaching the shore. On the deck of Bowsers ship, Link and
the Mario Brothers still square off against Bowser and the
rest of his troops. Racing across the decks of the other
ships, is Navi.
A trail of light follows the fairy as she finally makes it
across the deck of the Fourth Ship.
91.

Navi flies over to Fox who is bandaging himself up and
wiping the blood from his mouth.
Landing on his shoulder, the Fairy whispers in his ear.
Fox nods, and strains as he stands on his feet. The pilot
opens the computer on his forearm and presses a few
keystrokes.
EXT. GREAT FOX DOCKING BAY (SAME)
Roaring out of the docking bay, an UNMANDED ARWING sails
down towards Fox.
Fox looks up to the sky as the Arwing descends to his
position, its flaps folding up and down to slow its
arrival butThe aircraft explodes against the golden force field.
Snarling, Fox looks to Navi who flies around in circles a
few times before zipping up to Wendys Battleship flying
directly above them. Reaching the under belly of the ship,
Navi locates an open porthole and flies in.
Still standing on the deck of the Fourth Battleship, Fox
steps back as a massive anchor and chain fall onto the deck
beside him. Without hesitating, Fox jumps onto and climbs
the chain up to Wendys ship.
Bowser takes a step forward to confront the three heroes.
BOWSER
This has all been done before
across dozens of worlds. Youve
already lost.
MARIO
Until all our lives have been
taken, we aint lost yet.
LUIGI
Speaking of all our lives, I
remember bringing a few other guys
with us, right?
92.
BOWSER
This ends now.
Taking in a deep breath, Bowser exhales a constant stream of
flame at the Mario Brothers and Link.
Quickly Link rolls in front of the Brothers, and withdraws
the Fire Wand from his belt with one hand while holding his
shield in front of him with the other.
The Brothers instinctively crouch down behind Link, covering
themselves with their hands, but the fire from Bowser is
absorbed into the wand.
LINK
Whatever you two did to the last
ship you were on, do it to this
one. Ill cover you.
LUIGI
Hes all yours.
Mario and Luigi make a run for it to a ventilation shaft
close to the bow of the ship.
Bowser lets up on the fire long enough to see the Mario
Brothers running up the deck.
BOWSER
You think you can escape? You dareEXT. NORTHERN HYLIAN SEA - BOWSERS BATTLESHIP (SAME)
Swinging from mast to mast, Donkey Kong swings across the
ships and lands on the Command Deck of Bowsers ship.
Standing on his hind legs, the Great Ape beats his chest and
HOWLS.
Bowser turns, but before he can defend himself DK hurls
himself down from the deck and tackles his foe.
The few remaining Koopas resume attacking Link.
LINK
(To the Brothers)
Get this ship out of the air!
As the Mario Brothers jump down the vent shaft, Link turns
in time to see Bowser and Donkey Kong brawling. Evading a
powerful hay maker from DK, Bowser back hands the ape across
the deck as if he weighed nothing at all.
Link braces himself as Bowser charges forward after the
Mario Brothers.
93.
Not wanting Bowser to gain anymore speed, Link also charges

froward with sword drawn to meet his adversary.
Link is inches away from being run down by Bowser, but the
Koopa King suddenly stops short, jerks backwards, and is
lifted up in the air. Holding the Koopa aloft, Donkey Kong
slams Bowser right through the deck floor.
INT. BOWSERS BATTLESHIP - SUB DECK ONE (SAME)
Scrambling out of the vent, Mario and Luigi start running
towards the aft of the ship. They stop short when they see
Bowser fall through the ceiling and land right in their
path.
Locking eyes with the Mario Brothers, Bowser inhales deeply
but is stopped short of spewing fire as Donkey Kong falls
through the ceiling onto Bowsers head.
MARIO
Come on brother, this is a heavy
weight bout.
LUIGI
You dont have to tell me twice.
The Brothers make a run for it, jumping over the gap in the
floor and sprinting down the hall.
Luigi looks over his shoulder to watch Link jump down
through the hole after DK: the CRASHING and GROWLING sounds
of the brawl are unreal.
Descending a metal stairwell down to another deck, the
CLATTER of the brawl behind Mario and Luigi begins heading
their way.
INT. BOWSERS BATTLESHIP - SUB DECK TWO (SAME)
Mario and Luigi reach the base of the stairwell, entering
another hall leading to the rear of the ship. Still running
forward, the wall behind them bursts open; Bowser, Donkey
Kong, and Link come spilling into the hallway.
Link pierces Bowser in the shoulder under the shell, but
Bowser grabs link by the waist and tosses him forward at the
Mario and Luigi like a rag doll.
The Forest Knight, tumbles into both Mario and Luigi
knocking all three down to the ground.
94.
LINK
(Straining)
Just keep running!
Mario and Luigi comply as Link quickly springs back on his
feet.
With his massive paws, Donkey Kong attempts to pry Bowsers
Jaws apart like that other famous Kong. Instead, DK nearly
gets a face full of fire and is punched backwards through a
steel wall.
As Bowser charges forward, Link takes out a fist full of
bombs from one of his belt pouches.
The Forest Knight hurls the bombs at Bowser, but despite an
impressive display of pyrotechnics the beast is unhindered.
Link holds up his shield which Bowser swipes his claw
across: sparks fly. Ducking under an incoming blow, Link
stabs Bowser right in the elbow.
The Koopa King HOWLS in pain, and in the same instant is
tackled by Donkey Kong who comes crashing through the
adjacent wall; both hurling themselves down through the
floor down to the next level.
INT. BOWSERS BATTLESHIP - SUB DECK THREE (SAME)
Mario and Luigi are nearly at the end of the next hall when
they hear Bowser and DK burst onto their floor and continue
to brawl.
LUIGI
This is starting to look familiar.
MARIO
If this ship is built like the last
one-Donkey Kong is thrown up against the wall ahead of the Mario
Brothers.
MARIO
--Engine room should be through
here.
Luigi pulls the lever to open the portal, and leaps away as
a fireball is hurled at the wall beside him.
Mario holds the door open for his brother as he dives into
the other room. Looking back, Luigi quickly glances at Link
fending off Bowser with the master sword.
95.
Mario tumbles through the door, and it slams shut behind

him.
EXT. BOWSERS BATTLESHIP - CARGO HOLD (SAME)
On the other side of the door, Mario and Luigi get back to
their feet as several massive fist marks begin to indent the
metal partition.
Running towards the other end of the CostCo size cargo hold
of the ship, the steel wall behind The Brothers is ripped in
half by Bowsers claws.
Mario and Luigi reach a control panel beside the door on the
other side of the cargo hold. Mario desperately pushes
buttons on the panel.
LUIGI
If it wasnt obvious, none of these
walls tend to hold that guy for
very long.
MARIO
Well none of this stuff is written
in English, so how about ya help
out instead of running your mouth?
Luigi pushes his brother aside, and takes a wrench to the
control panel. As the panel sparks, an ALARM sounds from
inside the cargo hold.
AIR BOSS (V.O. / FILTERED)
All hands brace for impact; the
shields are down. Repeat: shields
areEXT. WENDYS BATTLESHIP - SAME
An unconscious Wendy lies at Foxs feet as the Star Captain
cracks his knuckles. Pressing the com-link button on his
forearm computer, Fox hails his star ship.
FOX
McCloud to Great Fox, do you copy?
R.O.B. (V.O.)
We are receiving you, Captain.
FOX
Concentrate fire on the galleons
flanking the lead ship.
96.
R.O.B. (V.O.)
Understood, Captain.
Fox smiles as two massive lasers strike down the ship beside
him; cutting it clean in half.
INT. BOWSERS BATTLESHIP - CARGO HOLD (SAME)
Bowser finally breaks through the wall and stomps into the
cargo hold towards The Brothers. In one claw, Bowser drags
Donkey Kong by the leg; literally mopping the floor with
him.
BOWSER
Just like all the rest, you fools
cant comprehend that Im trying to
save your lives!
An exhausted Link charges in behind Bowser, but before he
can land his sword into Bowser, the beast slaps the Knight
aside like a gnat.
MARIO
Its not that we cant get behind
what your saying, its that your
actions just dont match up.
BOWSER
In mere moments well reach your
Kingdom, and I will seize the power
star before you destroy yourselves.
Every moment you stand in my way is
another step closer to your own
end.
LUIGI
And what happens to our world when
we give you what you want?
BOWSER
It will be governed by one fit to
rule; namely, me.
MARIO
We kinda figured it would swing
that way. Lets get this over with.
Link, barely able to move, scans the room. Removing his
boomerang, the Forest Knight throws it towards Bowser.
Casually stepping out of the way, Bowser dodges the
projectile as it sails across the room and hits the side of
a wall.
97.
BOWSER
Pathetic.
Luigi cringes at the weak attack, but Mario nudges his
brother in the ribs and points to where the boomerang
landed.
Just above the boomerang, on the other side of the wall
behind Bowser is a red lever- "MANUAL RELEASE" written in
Japanese, but just under it is a clear picture of the
levers purpose.
Mario is about to charge towards Bowser, when Luigi shoves
him aside and runs towards the Koopa King armed with a
wrench.
LUIGI
Im gonna show you pathetic when I
knock you senseless inside your own
ship.
Despite hesitating, Mario runs around Bowser towards the
Manual Release lever.
Bowser sees through the obvious distraction and breaths fire
at Mario ignoring Luigi.
Mario is able to dodge the incoming fire by diving to the
floor.
On the other side of Bowser, Link claws his way back onto
his feet using his sword as a crutch. With a noticeable
limp, Link makes his way towards Bowser.
Luigi is slamming his wrench as hard his can against
Bowsers shell, legs, tailAs Bowser runs out of breath, he finally raises an eye to
deal with his minor annoyance behind him.
BOWSER
If you are all content to die, then
it will be by my hand and you willBowser lets out a wretched SCREAM.
Link has driven his master sword all the way through
Bowsers shell. Bowser slowly turns to face Link and Luigi.
Before Bowser can open his mouth to speak, Luigi smacks him
in the face with his wrench.
98.
LUIGI
Do we have your attention now?
Under heavy labored breathing, Bowser growls, and backhands
Luigi across the room.
Falling hard on the deck, Luigis lifeless body slides to a
stop against the wall.
Mario, with his hand on the manual release lever, growlsMARIO
Youre gonna wish you never laid a
hand on my brother you son of a
bitch.
With that, Mario throws the lever.
The cargo bay doors on the floor swing open just a few feet
away from Bowser.
All ships, take evasive action and
pull back. Pull back!
LINK
Youve met your end, beast.
Link shoots his Grappling Gun from the hip; the hook
piercing right through the Bowsers stomach.
Donkey Kong has regained consciousness. Standing nose to
nose with Bowser, the Great Ape winds up for a punch and

Bowsers fall stops short. The chain of the grappling hook
catches onto a rivet protruding from the deck, essentially
hanging the Koopa King by his shell.
Grabbing onto the chain, Bowser begins to pull himself back
up into the haul of the ship.
BOWSER
I will. Not. Stop.
99.
INT. BLUE FALCON COCKPIT (SAME)

A gloved fist pushes throttles up on the accelerator.
Nearly halfway up the chain, Bowser continues to bellow out
his threatBOWSER
I will not allow you to destroy
yourselves.
INT. BLUE FALCON COCKPIT (SAME)
A gloved fist grabs hold of the EJECT handle.
With his claw nearly reaching the haul of the ship, Bowser
screams out in angerBOWSER
I will not rest until Ive saved
you all!
Directly below Bowser, hovering just over the water at an
incredible speed, comes the Blue Falcon. All of a sudden,
the top of the craft pulls back and Captain Falcon is
jettisoned into the air.
With his fist charged full of flame, Captain Falcon sails up
to Bowser and punches him square in the face.
FALCON
Goodnight, gorgeous.
With Bowser out cold, Captain Falcon gracefully continues
his ascent up through the cargo doors and finishes an
inverted flip into the cargo bay.
INT. BOWSERS BATTLESHIP - CARGO HOLD (SAME)
Landing on his feet, Captain Falcon turns towards the others
with a satisfied smile.
FALCON
Im calling that one... Falcon
Punch!
The Captain throws a mock punch into the air that ignites
into flames in the shape of a falcon. His victory smile
fades as he examines the scene closer.
100.
Standing over his fallen brother is Mario, along with Link

taking a knee, and Donkey Kong with his head held low.
Right up against the shore line, the Great Fox descends
facing out towards the great blue sea, and four decimated
galleons slowly sinking into the sea.
Bowsers flagship and Wendys ship above it are all that
remain.
All troops, stand down. I repeat,
stand down.
The three Arwings fly over Wendys ship Top Gun style and
buzz the command tower before peeling up into the sky.
EXT. SUNSHINE SEA SIDE BEACH (LATER)
Standing atop a metal platform, Bowser is bound in massive
steel hand and foot restraints that glow with an electric
blue light.
PRINCESS PEACH (O.S.)
Bowser, leader of the Koopa regime;
you have illegally declared war
with my kingdom, trespassed upon
sovereign waters and airspace,
acted with intention to kidnap a
sovereign ruler, attempted theft,
and murder. Do you have any last
words before youre sentenced?
Looking up with fire in his eyes, Bowser growls at his
accusers.
Standing before Bowser on the sand are Peach flanked by two
MUSHROOM UNDERLINGS, Mario, Link, DK, Captain Falcon, Fox,
and two Star Fox Company Tanks; their barrels aimed right at
the fallen Koopa King.
BOWSER
Youve sealed your own demise. Your
arrogance will cost you all your
lives; and I will have my revenge.
PRINCESS PEACH
I find that highly unlikely.
(To Samus)
Get that thing off my beach, its
scarring the tourists away.
101.
Standing beside Bowser, Samus Aran nods and presses a button

on the side of her arm cannon. Suddenly, the steel platform
around Bowser folds up around him like a box.
All those gathered on the beach watch as the box slowly
ascends into the haul of Samus ship hovering above them.
PRINCESS PEACH
Well now that thats taken care of,
who needs a drink?
(Beat)
I need a drink.
EXT. MUSHROOM CASTLE - COURTYARD (NIGHT)
Fireworks explode in the night sky as DOZENS OF
MUSHROOM-PEOPLE and HUMAN CITIZENS dance in the lush garden
of the castle courtyard.
A multitude of colored tents are set up around the open
lawn, and candelabras light the grounds in a pleasant golden
glow.
Underneath the tent with the Wet Bar, Captain Falcon is
entertaining SEVERAL PEASANT GIRLSCAPTAIN FALCON
--flying up through the air, I come
face to face with him and I say,
"Goodnight, gorgeous," and then I
punched him right in the face!
The girls swoon, and the Captain looks pleased as punch.
PRINCESS PEACH (O.S.)
Excuse me, ladies. I need to have a
word with the Captain.
The peasants bow low, and give Princess Peach plenty of room
as she enters. Beside the Princess, her MUSHROOM CHAPERONE
holds a silver tray with a small scroll on it.
Taking another sip of wine from her glass, Peach places her
drink on the tray in exchange for the scroll.
PRINCESS PEACH
With thanks from the Mushroom
Kingdom, our treasury department
has authorized me to award you with
the sum ofThe Captain puts up a hand to silence Peach.

CAPTAIN FALCON
Dont worry yourself about it
Princess. I did this for me.
Twirling his keys around his fingerCAPTAIN FALCON
Besides, I know where the real
money is, and race season is right
around the corner.
Tipping his beer bottle in Peachs direction, Captain Falcon
takes his leave.
CAPTAIN FALCON
Thanks for the brawl and the brew.
EXT. MUSHROOM CASTLE - COURTYARD (LATER)
Elsewhere, at a round wooden table, an anthropomorphic BLUE
FALCON (Falco, 28), a HARE (Peppy, 46) and a FROG with a
trucker hat (Slippy, 19) sit with Fox discussing the battle.
Falco offers Fox a drink, but Fox declines. Catching sight
of Samus, Fox excuses himself and makes his way toward the
armored woman.
FOX
Thought you had your orders?
Samus turns to Fox and folds her arms across her chest.
FOX
What made you change your mind?
SAMUS
I didnt change my mind, your guy
was on the list.
(Motioning to the table)
What made you change your mind;
thought you werent a company man?
FOX
Its not a company; its family.
SAMUS
Next time you and your family want
to make a mess, Ill be happy to
come clean up and collect the
bounty from you.

FOX
Next time youll have to do the
heavy lifting yourself, but you
give us a shout if it gets too
tough out there for ya.
Samus laughs and exits.
McCloud grins and returns to his crew.
EXT. MUSHROOM CASTLE - COURTYARD (LATER)
On a hill overlooking the festivities, Donkey Kong sits, and
sips his drink out of a coconut shell. Rambi grazes on the
grass beside him.
Princess Peach approaches with her Mushroom Chaperone.
PRINCESS PEACH
I dont suppose youre looking for
monetary compensation for your
efforts?
Donkey Kong sets down his coconut and stands before the
Princess. He looks down on her and snorts. In sign language,
Donkey Kong names his termsDONKEY KONG
(Hooting / Subtitled)
Kong Island, not safe. Pirates,
thieves, looting. We trade with
you, you help protect cargo.
Princes Peach signs back as she respondsPRINCESS PEACH
That sounds entirely reasonable now
that weve acquired some enhanced
assets to our navy.
Peach extends her hand, palm face up.
PRINCESS PEACH
On behalf of my kingdom, we look
forward to doing business with you.
Donkey Kong gently taps his fingers onto Peachs palm.
Looking into the Princess eyes one last time, the Great Ape
turns and mounts Rambi.
Princess Peach watches as DK rides off underneath the
fireworks.

EXT. MARIO BROTHERS HOUSE (LATER)
Mario is leaning over the railing on his porch, watching the
fireworks still exploding in the sky; Link stands beside
him.
MARIO
We did good work today, didnt we?
Mario takes a long pull on his wine bottle and throws it
aside.
LINK
Thats not a question that should
bring any doubt into your mind.
MARIO
Right.
Looking over to Link, Mario tries to shake off despair.
MARIO
Maybe I just need to step away from
all this. Youve got new marching
orders I guess?
Link grimaces and looks down at the letter in his hand.
LINK
Messenger ran it over this
afternoon.
Stepping out onto Links shoulder, Navi looks down at the
letter; her bright blue eyes light up.
The letter has the royal seal: signed by Princess Zelda.
MARIO
If you need an extra hand out
there, I owe you a solid.
Link walks from the porch out to his horse tied up on the
fence along side a sleeping yoshi. The Knight saddles up his
ride.
LINK
My next battle Im going to have to
fight alone.
MARIO
Yeah. Sure.
(Beat)
Well, kid, you turned out to be one
helluva a soldier.

LINK
Youre not a bad soldier yourself.
MARIO
Im no soldier: just a plumber.
Plumbing is...
(Beat)
Ill survive.
Link mounts his horse and looks back to Mario as he grabs
the reigns.
LINK
Its not ever going to be the same,
but it will never be enough to just
survive; youll have to choose to
live.
Mario nods, and uncorks another bottle of wine.
MARIO
You take care, Link.
Link rides off towards the hills.
Mario is left alone.
INT. MARIO BROTHERS HOUSE (LATER)
Standing in the doorway, Mario stares into Luigis room when
he hears the phone RING. He remains motionless.
The phone RINGS again, and Mario finally blinks.
Mario closes the door to Luigis room and heads towards the
kitchen as the phone RINGS once more.
INT. MARIO BROTHERS HOUSE - KITCHEN (LATER)
Mario watches as the phone continues to RING finally picking
it up as if it weighed a metric ton.
MARIO
Mario Brothers...
(Beat)
Twenty four hour plumbing, how may
I help you?
PRINCESS PEACH (V.O. / FILTERED)
We need you at the castle, now.
Please.

INT. MUSHROOM CASTLE - OBSERVATORY (LATER)
Walking up the hallway to the observatory, Mario knocks on
the door frame.
LUMA / ROSALINA (O.S. / RECORDING)
-need help. Mom, please, I need
helpInside the observatory, Princess Peach is tinkering with her
telescope, but looks up to Mario as he enters.
MARIO
You rang, your highness?
Stepping over to Mario, Princess Peach removes her welding
goggles and bows her head ever so slightly.
PRINCESS PEACH
I owe you my thanks, and an
apology.
MARIO
I appreciate the sentiment, but I
dont need any extra sympathy; Im
just here to work.
PRINCESS PEACH
I was hoping youd feel that way.
Walking back towards her telescope, Princess Peach grabs the
Luma still playing its recorded message, and cradles it
like a baby.
PRINCESS PEACH
I know what its like to loose
someone. Its almost impossible to
stop thinking about a way to bring
them back.
MARIO
Thats true, and not at all helpful
for me right now. If youd just
show me what needs fixing, please.
Princess Peach flips a switch, and an electric HUM resounds
through the chamber.
PRINCESS PEACH
Nothing needs fixing, just,
preventative maintenance.
Mario steps back, as the floor beneath Peach begins to glow.

PRINCESS PEACH
I underestimated your ability.
Youve proved your dedication to
my-- to our kingdom. So, Ive
declared you the Steward over the
castle and country while Im away.
MARIO
While youre away?
PRINCESS PEACH
We dont always get what we want
from life, but we all have to make
a choice to take what we can from
the life we have.
The golden glow begins to engulf the Princess.
Mario takes a cautious step forward, reaching out for the
Princess as the golden aura fills the room.
MARIO
Princess, wait!
PRINCESS PEACH
Take care of this place, Mario.
A bright FLASH erupts where Peach once stood. The light
subsides: shes disappeared, and a cone of rainbow light
shoots out through the telescope and out into the night sky.
Mario races to the window, baffled, looking up to the stars.
MARIO
What the-- where the hell did she
go?
MUSHROOM BUTLER (O.S.)
Im afraid your princess is in
another castle now, your highness.
Mario whips around to face a MUSHROOM BUTLER (60) wearing a
tuxedo and monocle.
Several other MUSHROOM SERVANTS, enter the room. The spot
where Peach was standing is still smoking.
MUSHROOM BUTLER
(To Mario)
Ill be briefing you on your duties
while the Princess is on leave.

MUSHROOM SERVANT #2
Whered she go?
MUSHROOM SERVANT #3
Wait, wholl look after us while
shes gone?
The gathered Mushroom people all turn to face the plumber.
Mario leans back up against the wall; his eyes grow wide as
the situation finally dawns on him.
MARIO
