LETTER OF TRANSMITAL

Dear Sir:
It is to submit the project of Organizational Behavior that has been
performed at Selmore Pharmaceutical Company as per MBA degree
requirement.
The report contains information about Job
satisfaction/dissatisfaction and organizational commitment. The reasons of
job satisfaction/dissatisfaction and job commitment, its causes, effects,
contribution of others in it, relation between job satisfaction and
organizational commitment and finally the recommendations.
It fulfills the Guidelines or required criteria. Please approve that.

EXECUTIVE SUMMERY
Selmore was established in 1977 in Johar Town
Lahore. It has 320 Employees working with a turnover of 2 to 5
per annum with an income of 380 million/annum. According to our
research Majority of employees are satisfied with their job and
100% are committed to their organization. 10% employees are
not satisfied while 30% are neither satisfied nor dissatisfied, 30%
are satisfied and30% are highly satisfied. Different people have
different reasons which are discussed in later pages. However
they have a healthy work environment and all employees are
generous and supportive. Urdu is followed normally and Dress
code Is Formal. They have a 1 hour lunch break and 2 tea breaks
of 10 min each which is given by the company.

JOB SATISFACTION:
We took the interviews of different
employees in Selmore Pharmaceuticals and asked them questions
regarding job satisfaction and organizational commitment. We
noticed that only 10% employees are not satisfied and they have
different reasons for that.
In rating from 1-------5 out of 10 employees only 1
employee is not at all satisfied while 3 are moderate.
REASONS FOR SATISFACTION:
Most common reasons of job satisfaction are

Friendly environment.
Attractive salary package.
Chances of Growth.
Senior support.
Motivation and rewards.
Leave policy is excellent.

Other reasons are the sense of having authority,


weightage to their decisions, work place security and good
behavior of other employees.
REASONS FOR DIDSATISFACTION:
Fewer promotions.
Behavior of some employees is not good.
Their management is poor and there is a communication gap
between employees and management.
Covance is also a major issue as office is in Johar Town.

Other then this Stress, non cooperative team, over


time, medical alounces and low salary are some other issues
which are not common.

OUTCOME OF SATISFACTION:
The outcome of satisfaction is
the employees are highly motivated to do their tasks. They have
an increased productivity and are performing well. New research
is also going on. They have no financial stress, enjoy their work,
regular on job and dont want to quit their jobs. So an overall trust
is there between employees and higher management and
employees are self satisfied.
OUTCOME OF DISSATISFACTION:
People who are not satisfied have a low
productivity, frustration and they lack the motivation to do work.
How do employees cope with it?
Employees work hard and ensure good performance.
They try to give their 100% and even invest extra time if needed.
The department heads also motivate and help subordinates to
bring their passion to work.
SUGGESTIONS FROM EMPLOYEES:
Management should make sure that the tasks they assign to
employees are achievable.
They should encourage freedom of speech and value the
point of differences. Also build solid relationship between
employees and company which is in the interest of both.
Job designation and work distribution should be clear.

There should be more increments, promotions, benefits like


medical & convance, appreciation and rewards.
Company policy should be improved and implemented.
Management should give regular feedback on work
performance.
CONTRIBUTION OF OTHERS:
As environment is overall friendly, supportive
and cooperative so employees feel tension free. They get the
support from coworkers and seniors where needed. Managers and
coworkers behave well and appreciative but sometimes
management doesnt understand the situation which is
frustrating. According to managers they try to make their staff
feel comfortable and get great results which intern boast their
confidence and productivity.

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN JOB SATISFACTION AND ORG


COMMITMENT:
All employees think that there is a strong
relation between both of them. They have a relation of loyalty,
belief and faith. If employees are not committed they cant
contribute to the success and goals of their organization. They will
work for their own good more than the organization. Their goals
must coincide with the goals of organization. Moreover if they are
committed to their job and organization they will be satisfied too
and will work harder.
EFFECTS OF JOB SATISFACTION (Health, Psychologically,
Behavior):
Employees who are not satisfied have put on weight and
are mentally disturbed. They also feel frustrated and cant
concentrate on work.

On the other hand employees who are satisfied are


grown healthier, feel relaxed, enjoy good work place behavior and
have a healthy social life.
ARE THY FIT?
All employees think that they are fit in their job
designation because if they would not be fit, they would not be
there as appointments are done on merit.

ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT:
In a rating from 1-------------5 for
Organizational commitment all employees gave the rating of 5
which means all the employees are highly committed to their
organization and a very low turnover of only 2 to 5 is a proof of it.

Reasons:
Organization fulfills their needs.
Their decisions carry weightage and employees dont have
any sort of internal or external pressure while making
decisions which are potentially beneficial for the
Organization.
There is a bright future for Organization as well as for
employees.
Employees have a clear understanding of what is expected
from them.
In the beginning some employees were not satisfied with
their salary but now they are happy.
Overall Organization has good environment, motivated team,
good learning experience, cooperative staff and
management, job satisfaction and most importantly respect
for the employees.

EFFECTS:
Following effects are visible about Organizational
commitment.
Both employees and Organization are getting benefits and
enjoying.
Productivity has been increased.
Employees have good relation with bosses and they are selfsatisfied.
Employees are thinking for Organizational growth and for
this they are working hard and giving extra time if needed.
Employees are supportive for others too and thinking of
improving their skills.
So, this is the outcome of Organizational commitment.
As employees are 100% committed so small issues are
ignored and employees take things in the great interest of
Organization more than themselves. Organization too takes
care of the needs and benefits of employees.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

After analyzing the whole report


following are the recommendations for Selmore
Pharmaceuticals by us.
Give Salaries in time and increase the salary on regular
basis.
Deserving candidates should be given promotions.
Communication gap between management and employees
should be minimized.
For more satisfaction of employees, announce rewards,
incentives and benefits like medical and transportation.

Management should ensure that the polices of organization


are being followed.
By the introduction of computerized system better services
should be offered.
