Church Cleaning, June 1-7, David & Alison Olsav

A Word from Servant of God Isaac Hecker, Founder

of the Paulist Fathers
1. The utterances of the prophets concerning the triumph of the
Church upon earth, it may be said, have not been, by even a strict
interpretation of them, reasonably fulfilled. Only three hundred
millions of the twelve hundred millions of its inhabitants are Christians;
and how many of these are merely nominal ones? What earnest
believer in Christ will accept this willingly as the fruit of the best,
uttermost, and final effort of Christianity

[On the Mission of New Religious Communities, 1876]

If you have asked Father Hecker to pray for you or another person who is ill,
and you believe something miraculous has happened, please phone Fr. Paul
Robichaud, CSP, at (202) 269-2519 and tell him your story.

The Most Holy Trinity May 31, 2015

Pastoral Corner
Greetings!
Today is the Feast of the Holy Trinity and we return to Ordinary Time in our Liturgical Calendar. In retrospect, we have
been busy since Feb.18Ash Wednesday. The forty days of Lent (minus the 6 Sundays which do not count as Lenten
days because each Sunday is a celebration of the Resurrection) led us to Holy Week March 29, Palm Sunday. Easter
Resurrection was April 5th. And that Easter season lasted until May 17th when we celebrated the Ascension of the Lord.
Seven days later, May 24, (50 days after Easter) was Pentecost and the coming of the Holy Spirit.
So what are we doing now? The Feast we celebrate today helps us consciously take up Jesus mission and it reminds us
to live what we have been celebrating. We are working on a relationship with God by continuing the work of Christ with
the Holy Spirit guiding us.
The First Reading today from Deuteronomy helps us remember Gods guidance and promises to our religious ancestors.
In our own lives today, we have to ask the same question they did: Who is this God?
In the Second Reading from Romans we are reminded that we are more than a body that just responds to everything
around it. We choose to have self-control in that we have the ability to choose how we will act and react. Through our
relationship with Christ we can call on the Holy Spirit to guide and assist us in our daily sharing of the Good News ----Gods Presence in our lives. Remember those 7 Gifts of the Holy Spirit mentioned at Confirmation!
And finally in the Gospel---the great promise: And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age. For me---thats another Good News!
We have a lot of time to work on this relationship with God. Ordinary Time lasts until November 22..Thats when
Advent begins this year.
Deo Gratias,

Barbara M. Harrison

FALL RETREAT WOMEN & MEN (?)

The womens group will be sponsoring another

weekend retreat. We will have two separate
fees: one for retreat + lodging & one for retreat
only. Final fee will depend on the number of
participants and space/house rental. The retreat
will be October 2-4, beginning at 6pm on Friday
and ending around noon on Sunday. We need
to find a space to rent so are now taking names
of who is interested in joining us. If there are
enough men who would like to accompany wives
or others interested in having a retreat, please
let us know so we can plan for both.
